(956) Being more closely united to Christ, those who dwell in heaven
fix the whole Church more firmly in holiness. . . . They do not cease to intercede with
the Father for us, as they proffer the merits which they acquired on earth through the
one mediator between God and men, Christ Jesus. . . . So by their fraternal concern is our
weakness greatly helped. (Page 271)
The only one that prays or intercedes for us in Heaven is Christ.
Hebrews 7:25 Wherefore he (Jesus) is able also to save them to the uttermost that
come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
The only recorded prayer of a dead man praying was from the rich man who died and went
to Hell. In fact, he didnt even pray to God. The Word of God teaches that when one
dies in their sins they are eternally separated from God. It further teaches that when one
dies in their sins, Jesus doesnt even know them.
Luke 16:23-25 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth
Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have
mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and
cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. But Abraham said, Son, remember that
thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now
he is comforted, and thou art tormented.
Notice, in Hell, this man was still full of pride and would not call upon God. At the
Great White Throne Judgment where all the damned will be cast into the lake of fire, Jesus
says that He never knew them. They were never saved before because He says that He knows
His sheep.
John 10:27-28 My sheep hear my voice, and I KNOW THEM, and they follow me:
And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall NEVER perish, neither
shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
Here is the scene at the Great White Throne Judgment:
Matthew 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I NEVER KNEW YOU: depart
from me, ye that work iniquity.
Matthew 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me,
ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
Matthew 25:46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the
righteous into life eternal.
Christ is the one who mediates/prays for Believers. He is our advocate/lawyer.
1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the
man Christ Jesus;
1 John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And
if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
