Eastern Regional Watch
Eastern Regional Watch Ministries

The Eastern Regional Watch is a discernment/apologetics resource ministry founded on the Word of God, specifically Ezekiel 33:7; to stand watch and  guard  against deception, false teachings and the philosophies of men that  attempt to infiltrate the church body and to warn of heresies that have infected the church body from within. We are followers and disciples of Jesus Christ here to represent Him to others in love and humility, in the fear of God with a message that is rightly dividing the Word of truth. (2 Timothy 2:15)

Dear All,

There is so much wishful thinking these days.  People making up their own rules and living by their own ideas of what is "right"  This only proves there is nothing new under the sun (Ec. 1:9)

Jud 17:6  In those days there was no king in Israel, but every man did that which was right in his own eyes.

A Whole Lot Of Wishful Thinking These Days
by Sandy Simpson, 2/5/10ACT Logo 2

In this article I want to detail a number of beliefs people have these days that have no basis in Scripture.  I am going to roam all over the map, so to speak, and try to give fairly short answers on a number of topics and also give you useful links to articles that will help you deal with any particular issue.  It is truly amazing how many false ideas people cling to without giving a thought to what the Bible has to say on the subject.

Book Review: This is Not That: An Analysis of John Crowder's "The New Mystics"
by Jackie Alnor, Apostasy Alert, 2/8/10Apostasy Alert

In analyzing a book that promotes itself as a manual on "how to become a part of the supernatural generation," it must be approached with prayer and humility. The temptation to condemn everything in the book risks trampling upon holy things. John Crowder, in his book "Miracle Workers, Reformers and the New Mystics" mixes the holy with the profane. Discerning between the two, especially in gray areas, is a giant task for any believer to take on.

Critical Issues CommentaryA Theology Of Despair And Hopelessness
by Bob DeWaay, February 11th, 2010

Imagine a world where the polarity of time is reversed so that history moves backward toward Paradise rather than forward toward judgment. Consider a world in which God is so immanently involved in the creation that He is undoing entropy1 and recreating the world now through processes already at work. Think of a world where the future is leading to God Himself in a saving way for all people and all of creation. This imaginary world is our world viewed through the lens of Emergent eschatology.

I don't want to diminish the wrongs committed against Native Americans: killing, selling alcohol, taking their land, ignoring treaty obligations... Yet our children need to see these tragic violations in the light of the whole truth.  Apart from our Creator and Savior, human nature everywhere will express its selfishness and violence.  If we dismiss uncomfortable facts in order to prove a false ideal, we perpetuate the lies.  We also hide the only solution that works -- trusting and following God. Filling minds with occult visions will surely immunize the masses against the Truth of God. His reality is incompatible with mystical fantasy! Yet people has, through the ages, chosen to compromise God's truths with their imagination. Remember the moral condition of the masses back in Noah's days:

"...every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually." Genesis 6:5

Similar conditions will prevail when Jesus returns. (See Luke 17:20)  Today's occult movies and computer games, playing on the imaginations of impressionable children, could open a "Pandora's Box" of paganism and spiritual bondage. So let's heed His warnings:

"Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ." Colossians 2:8
