Dear All,

The New Age has finally made a home for itself in many churches and denominations.  If you doubt that reality, which was predicted by Dave Hunt back in 1985 in his coauthored book with T.A. McMahon called "The Seduction Of Christianity", then go to our articles page on The Emerging Church.

It seems everyone's practicing yoga meditation these days. Physicians recommend it to their patients which means it's beneficial...right? Saddleback Promotes "Christianized" Mantra Meditation
by Christine Pack, Sola Sisters, 6/15/10Discernment Ministries

Rick Warren's Saddleback Church website features two books by Quaker and mystic Richard Foster, today's leading proponent of something known as "Spiritual Disciplines" or "Spiritual Formation."  Also promoted are several other books focusing on the Spiritual Disciplines, which teach a practice that is nothing more than a "Christianized" version of mantra meditation, a pagan practice borrowed from Hinduism and Buddhism. In this pagan practice, a person will "empty" the mind employing some kind of device: rhythmic music, repeating a word or phrase, focusing on breathing, etc., in an attempt to connect to God.

Purpose Driven Life - Radio Discussion
by The Berean Call, 6/12/10The Berean Call

This power-packed, nine-part audio series produced for Search the Scriptures Daily Radio takes a Berean's-eye look at the content of Rick Warren's 20-million-plus best-seller, The Purpose-Driven Life [TPDL]. Dave Hunt and T.A. McMahon share their thoughts and analysis of TPDL in light of God's Word, and examine the difficult question: Are the writings of Rick Warren founded in Bible-centered wisdom, or are they rooted in humanistic philosophy and man-made methodology?

The Roots and Fruits of the New Apostolic Reformation
by Bob DeWaay, 6/10/10Critical Issues Commentary

This article explores the idea of apostles in the church throughout church history. In it I will show that the restoration/Latter Rain idea that fuels the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) is unbiblical and dangerous to the well-being of Christians who become part of it. First we will review how the early church understood apostles in church history. Then we will examine the Roman Catholic Church's teaching about apostolic authority. From there we will examine the ideas of a 17th-century mystic given new life in the Latter Rain movement, and now the NAR.
