The New Apostolic
Reformation
What is it and where is it going? The International Coalition of Apostles headed by
C.
Peter Wagner is the most influential purveyor of the New Apostolic
Reformation,
a term coined by Wagner. This organization is really an extension of the
New Order of the Latter Rain whose influences and mentors include
William
Branham, Franklin Hall, the Hawtin brothers, and more recently Bill
Hamon,
Paul Cain and the Kansas City Prophets. The doctrines of the Latter Rain
have influenced most of the televangelists on TV today, and so have
crept
deceptively into many denominations. This 6 DVD series features commentary by Jacob Prasch, Gary Gilley, Orrel Steinkamp, Sandy Simpson, Mike Oppenheimer, Philip Powell, Jewel Grewe and others.

Featured Discernment Link
Discernment
Ministries was founded in 1989 by Travers and Jewel
van der
Merwe.
They had
been pastoring for a number of years and began to be
deeply
concerned with what they perceived within the church
as a
radical shift away from the authority of Scripture.
This shift
wasn't only affecting individual lives, but seemed
to be
steering the Church away from its firm foundation
toward
experiential faith. Sadly, with the advent of signs,
wonders
and personal prophecy on a unprecedented scale, the
church
was using intuitive reasoning as a basis for faith
rather
than the immutable authority of the Word of God -
the Holy
Bible. Their
concerns led the van der Merwe's to publish a
bi-monthly
newsletter, DISCERNMENT, then write their first
book,
STRANGE FIRE, which dealt with the revival of a
neo-gnosticism
developing at a rapid speed within Christendom. Today Jewel Grewe continues this ministry and organizes discernment conferences across the USA.

DITC e-Newsletter Volume 28, Issue 5

Dear All,
Praying together for our leaders in the churches and government is a Biblical concept (1 Tim 2:1,2). Praying together because we think the more people we have praying will cause God to answer our prayers the way we want is not. Christians praying together on a specific day is fine. Praying because the New Apostolic Reformation decrees it through their agencies of the National Prayer Committee and the World Prayer Center is not. It is better to set aside your own time for prayer as a church than to pray together with false apostles, false prophets and false religions. God decidedly does NOT hear the prayers of heretics and other false religions. I actually support Franklin Graham's statement about Islam being a false religion but then we see him promoting the National Prayer Day on TBN sitting with the pink haired heretic wife of it's founder. This ought to be an embarrassment to true believers as it was to me. I decided many years ago, knowing the people who organize the National Prayer Day, that I would not be joining them on that day. Why? Because God does not answer prayer based on the synergy of people but based on His criteria: that the prayer of one righteous person is more important to Him. Jas 5:16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. 1Pe 3:12 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil." {Psalm 34:12-16}

National
Repentance
- Praying by PROXY | by Pastor Anton Bosch, 5/10/10
It has become customary to speak of prayers of "national repentance".
On May Day, this year - 2010, a large number of people met at the
Lincoln
Memorial in Washington DC to pray various prayers of repentance "on
behalf
of the American people."[2] I remember a number of times, when growing
up in South Africa, that the Government called national days of prayer
and repentance in the hope that God would send rain at times of drought.
Shortly after the fall of Apartheid many churches, groups and
individuals
prayed prayers of repentance on behalf of the nation for the sins of the
past.[3] Many have prayed prayers of repentance because of the Holocaust
under Hitler. And the list goes on. But is this a Biblical idea? The
short
answer is no - there are a bunch of problems with this notion.

Balaam
| by Bill Randles, 4/28/10
Perhaps the most misunderstood story in the Bible is that of Balaam,
the pagan prophet. When it is told, it is usually related as a morality
story, merely a caution against greed in ministry. The love of money
indeed is part of the story - as well as the danger of false prophets
and
corrupt ministers. But lately I have come to realize that there is an
eschatological
dimension to this story that too often is unappreciated. It is amazing
how current and relevant the story of Balaam really is to today's
geo-political
situation.

The New Prophets And Apostles and Superstition
| by Sandy Simpson, 5/22/07 An old article to remind people of what the New Apostolic Reformation has promoted through the World Prayer Center. This ought to give true believers pause about getting involved with prayer efforts by false apostles and false prophets. "False prophets have always been known and identified as using
divination
and augury to try to set dates for certain events. The dates they
set, though they hold festivals to celebrate them, never produce the
results
they predict. Their superstitious behavior and their adherence to
these mythologies are one way to identify them as false prophets."

God's
Opinion
Of You Lasts Forever
| by Marsha West, NewsWithViews, May
9, 2010 A Christian friend of mine is reading one of Joyce Meyer's books.
If you haven't heard of Meyer, she is a popular health and wealth
author/radio
& TV teacher/conference speaker who believes God is our sugar daddy.
The evangelist has been criticized for her "conspicuously prosperous
lifestyle."
According to my friend, Joyce's books are "uplifting." She didn't like
hearing that some of her favorite author's teaching is theological
heresy.
To my friend's way of thinking, if a book makes you feel good, doctrine
isn't all that important.
