Featured Discernment Ministry

Think On These Things

Think on These Things Ministries is a vital outreach ministry of Southern View Chapel. Think on These Things, which began in 1994, was originally the name of a one-page paper created for a mission agency, who wanted to keep their missionaries informed of the theological landscape in America and around the world.

Today, Think on These Things has grown into a monthly publication that deals with contemporary theological issues, and is sent to subscribers in nearly every state in the U.S. and to numerous countries around the world. In addition to the monthly articles, Think on These Things Ministries hosts Bible conferences and serves as the publishing arm of Southern View Chapel, featuring the writing ministry of Pastor Gary Gilley, who has authored several books including, Is That You Lord?: Hearing the Voice of the Lord, a Biblical Perspective, This Little Church Stayed Home, This Little Church Went to Market, and "I Just Wanted More Land"-Jabez.

Volume 47, Issue 2
Dear Friends,

Delusions abound by people who have the audacity to actually call themselves "Christians" these days. I received an email the other day where the guy was mocking the hundreds of pastors, teachers, evangelists, missionaries and apologists whose excellent materials I have linked on the ACT site. In his email he said "I have found raising the Dead to be easy". Oh really?  I thought it was God who raises the dead?  No this guy apparently does it all the time, although I can't find any mention of it anywhere outside his delusion.

I still need your help.  Thank you to those who have helped this past year.  Please follow the guidelines on the donation link if you wish to help support this ministry. Chuck Pierce, the new head false apostle of the New Apostolic Reformation, formerly under false apostle C. Peter Wagner, has just announced on the ElijahList that he wants to "invite each of you to COME TO THE BANQUETING TABLE on January 2-5, 2014 at the Global Spheres Center in Corinth, Texas!"  This is a call for people to sign up for yet another conference of false apostles and false prophets, but the ad sounds like he is inviting people to the "Marriage Supper Of The Lamb".  You may find that idea absurd until you listen to these people "declaring" things "from the heavenlies".  In another December 16, 2013 issue of ElijahList Pierce states that they are going to "Rend the Heavens and Let Prophetic Revelation Fall!"  These people are so deluded that they think they are in the place of God.  But when I saw that Pierce is inviting people to this "banqueting table", which always includes "slain in the spirit", false prophecy and lying declarations, I was reminded of the following passage ...

What Is Dominionism?
by Martin Erdmann, 12/21/13

Dominionism is the erroneous belief that Christians have a mandate to build the "kingdom of God" on earth, restoring paradise, by progressively and supernaturally transforming themselves and others as well as all societal institutions through subduing and ruling the earth by whatever means possible, including using technology, science and psycho-social engineering; and then and only then will a "Christ" manifest his presence on earth. Dean Good is the Pastor of Grace Church of North Olmsted, an independent church in the Cleveland, Ohio area. He is a graduate of The Master's Seminary in Los Angeles. Sarah Leslie has a unique testimony of being radically saved and coming out of the hippie movement and its eastern mysticism. Sarah has a B.S. in Elementary Education and an M.S. in Counseling and had a professional counseling practice for six years. She headed the right to life movement in Iowa during the 1980s and became a home schooling leader during a key crisis in 1989-92. Her testimony of this crisis, "Home schooling Under Fire", is posted on numerous websites. During the 1990s Sarah became a leader in the opposition to Outcome-Based Education and edited the newspaper Free World Research Report. She served as an editor and publisher for the magazine The Christian Conscience, Charlette Iserbyt's book The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America, and the first editions of Warren Smith's books Deceived on Purpose and Reinventing Jesus Christ. Sarah co-authored the monograph "The Pied Pipers of Purpose: Part 1: Human Capital Systems and Church Performance." She was a founding member of the Discernment Research Group which publishes the Herescope blog and serves as its main editor. She also serves on the Board of Directors of Discernment Ministries since the year 2000. She has written numerous articles for various publications in print and online, including the Discernment Newsletter. Over the years she has done in-depth research behind the scenes for many published works by other authors. She has appeared on numerous radio and television interviews and frequently serves as a substitute host on Constance Cumbey's MicroEffect.

John Haller graduated in 1976 from Grace College with a B.A., in 1977 from Indiana State University with a M.S. and he received his law degree from Indiana University in 1980. Since 1980 he has been involved in the practice of law, specializing in the area of business and commercial litigation. He is presently a partner with the Columbus office of the firm Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP, currently ranked 170th in size among law firms in the United States. For 15 years, he served as an elder at a large evangelical church in the Columbus, Ohio area and from 1988-2013 served on the board of trustees of Grace College and Seminary. He is currently one of the leaders of Fellowship Bible Chapel, a new church that has formed in the northern suburbs of Columbus, Ohio.

Watch Definition of Dominionism and By-passing the Cross.

by Matt Slick, CARM, 12/22/13 Christian Apologetics & Research

No, we should not use genderless terms when referring to the God of the Bible.  The Bible tells us that every word is inspired. Everything that God has given us is there for a reason. If we adopt the politically correct ideology and impose it upon the Bible regarding the use of the masculine, feminine, or neuter pronouns, then what is to stop others from altering other words in Scripture that don't suit their politically correct, gender equality perspective as they relate to things such as male eldership (1 Timothy 2:12-13)?

Revealing Heaven
by Kat Kerr Let Us Reason
Reviewed by Mike Oppenheimer

What's the most traveled place that is not found on earth? Is it space, the Moon, Mars ... no, its heaven. That's right, heaven is most frequently visited place by those who profess by teaching the church new revelation. To say some of these (who are mostly women) are false prophets would be kind, the fact is, they are Dangerous with a capitol D.
