SERIES: JANUS: The Return Of The "God" Of New Beginnings Part 9: Gatekeeper Of The Door By Ed Tarkowski JANUS: The Gatekeeper Who Opens All Doors, Gates, Entrances, And Harbors Pope John Paul II's opening of the "Holy Door" in Rome will be the beginning of a new era looking to a new civilization in a new world, all of which can be summed up in the Roman god Janus' opening and closing of "all things." Here are some of the particulars of Janus' gatekeeping duties: "He is also the god of entrances, of going in and coming out. Which means he is the god of doorways, bridges, ferries, harbors, and boundaries. In early statues of Janus, he has four faces" (J.M.Hunt, Greek Mythology, http://www.frizzell.org/Greek/janus.html). "It is said that he would open the gates in the morning and close them at night. Janus also served as the god of gates and doors and of entrances and exits" (Mythology, Roman coin depicting Janus, http://www.janussculptures.com/myth.html). JANUS: The Spirit Within Doorways And Arches And The Gate Of Heaven A Vatican Information Service (VIS) November 24, 1996 news release reported that following a "moment of Marian prayer," the Pope spoke of a "spiritual" corporate "walk towards the Holy Door of 2000." But, it is Janus' being "the spirit within doorways and archways" and the keeper of the "Gate of Heaven" that makes this an important consideration concerning the outcome of this effort: " . . . next Saturday, in the Vatican basilica, I [Pope John Paul II] will preside at the First Vespers of the first Sunday of Advent, with which we will initiate the three-year immediate preparatory period for the Great Jubilee of the Year 2000. I invite all the faithful of Rome, as well as pilgrims present in the city, to take part in this solemn moment of prayer with which, in communion with the local churches throughout the world, we will SPIRITUALLY start to walk towards the Holy Door of 2000, symbol of Christ, one Savior of the world'" (caps mine). Janus' followers prayed before important events, also: "The Romans prayed to Janus at the beginning of all important events, especially war" (Mythology, Roman coin depicting Janus, http://www.janussculptures.com/myth.html). When you stop to think about the Revival, the prophecies and "new" revelations continually refer to doors opening and people reaching new levels through these doors. Furthermore, through these "spiritual doors," "new" power and heavier anointings are unleashed, which become greater with each passage. It seems to me the idea of passing through a "Holy Door" for the sake of the unity they want so much would be very appealing to those in the Revival. Could it be Janus who has been opening the doors to "new" revelations and anointing and bringing about unity among the denominations? Could it be Janus, the Guardian of the Doors, who will be waiting for them to put the capstone on this unity business and usher in "the kingdom of God"? I would think so. Here is one example of Revival thinking concerning the opening of doors: “You shall begin to see even as '95 comes closer and closer going on into '96 you shall see. More and more doors shall be opened one by one. Many even that do not even profess the power of God in the outpouring of the Holy Ghost shall fall into the river of God. Hallelujah. And great shall be the rejoicing. Great shall be the rejoicing. For the move of God shall not be limited amongst the Pentecostals and the Charismatics, but shall go out amongst many of the Evangelicals, and then many of those that are not any church affiliation at this time. It shall cross even over into those that are of other faiths. It shall cross over and sweep throughout the world of Islam. Ha." (Excerpt from cassette of Rodney Howard-Browne at New Life Christian Fellowship in Jacksonville, Florida in an evening Revival Service on November 10, 1994). I've said that the opening of the "Holy Door" is a spiritual symbol that will unleash spiritual powers not of God. The following statement about Janus is important in that it points to the spirit that will be unleashed in the Jubilee of 2000: "Janus is also the spirit within doorways and archways" (The Timepiece of Humanity - Duality I 2a.1, Stephen Lauf © 1995, http://www.quondam.com/tph/02a/2a_1.htm). The Pope spoke of this approach to the Holy Door as a "spiritual" corporate "walk towards the Holy Door of 2000." But, Janus' being "the spirit within doorways and archways" is also called the keeper of the Gate of Heaven, and this is where this symbplic event becomes extremely dangerous this year to one's spiritual well-being. JANUS: Keeper Of The Gate Of Heaven "According to Roman mythology, Janus was one of the most highly regarded gods. Having two faces, he was able to see into the future and into the past and was considered to be the keeper of the Gates of Heaven" (Mythology, Roman coin depicting Janus, http://www.janussculptures.com/myth.html). "The Holy Door is therefore a symbol of Jesus Christ, the true Gate of Heaven. Through him, the true and only mediator of salvation for humanity, we have reconciliation and divine forgiveness and through him, the only way to enter into communion with God, we are introduced as children of the Father's house. His dwelling becomes our dwelling, his family becomes our family. The door of the roman basilica, the symbol of the house of God, is opened to us so that we may feel at home with him" (http://www.198.62.75.12/www1/ofm/jub/JUBmean5.html). 1. "Janus . . . was considered to be the keeper of the Gates of Heaven." 2. "The Holy Door is therefore a symbol of Jesus Christ, the true Gate of Heaven." Now either Jesus has taken up with mythological beings and the Holy Ghost is no longer the Doorkeeper - OR - the spirit of Janus is there to guide a unified, corporate body into a spiritual realm that has nothing to do with God or His purposes through "another 'Jesus.'" Here, the Roman basilica is itself a symbol of the house of God, and the "Holy Door" is the entrance to "the Father." But Jesus is the door by which we enter into the Father's presence, and the Holy Spirit is the Gatekeeper: John 10:1 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. 2 But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. 4 And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. 5 And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers. . . . 7 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. 8 All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. 9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. 10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. "Spiritually" entering the "Holy Door" is not entering through Jesus to the Father. This "entering in" through a papal symbol into the presence of another "father" by "another Jesus" to receive a greater anointing will lead to the establishment of "another kingdom." I can see it no other way. Continued in Part 10.
