General Articles

(1) The New Apostolic Reformation by Inner-City Christian Discernment Ministry, 2000
This is the index page for a series of articles on the Apostolic Movement or, as C. Peter Wagner, self-proclaimed "apostle" calls it, "The New Apostolic Reformation".  "The most dangerous purveyors of deception are today's restored apostles and prophets.  Why?  Because they purport to speak for our Lord and they claim to hold the greatest authority over the direction of the Church and the lives of God's people. These apostles & prophets are the people that the majority of the other leaders in the charismatic movement look to for new insights, revelation, and vision for the future of the Church. In the left hand column is a series of files which expose this most recent aberrant movement within charismania.   Each page will have other "levels" of pages contained in them, like a Chinese puzzle box.  So take the time to search through them! It will be eye opening.  ICCDM has more information on the "Apostolic Movement" than any other web site."

(2) The World Christian Movement - Evangelism Vs. Evangelization by Albert James Dager, Media Spotlight, Volume 22 - Number 1 (Summer 1999)
"The Lord's prophecy concerning the greatest end-time deception should warn us that things are not always as they seem. For a deception to be so seductive that even the very elect would take pause to wonder if it is of God, it would have to have all the earmarks of a true work of God. That means it would come in the name of Jesus, it would have a great deal of solid biblical truth, it would affirm the Gospel, and it would be a "good work." And signs and wonders would accompany it. Those who might recognize and expose the deception would be looked upon as divisive, hateful and deceived themselves. For the most part, the churches would go along with the deception."  This is an expose' of a number of organizations and individuals such as C. Peter Wagner. Read Part 1, Part 2, Part 3.  Part 4 is actually a seperate article on Dominion Theology.

(3) Christian Fortune Tellers Never Get It Right, Either by G. Richard Fisher, PFO, 1999
"In an editorial in the last issue of The Quarterly Journal, co-director G. Richard Fisher explored the world of tabloid prognosticators and how an undiscerning world is all too quick to “run after psychics and psychic predictions.”  He also pointed out that an attraction for prophecy and future-telling, a longtime staple within Charismatic camps, has made inroads into Evangelical circles as well. Self-appointed prophets are cropping up everywhere. There is even a “National School of the Prophets Conference,” where for $175 you can be trained in the art of “propheteering.” C. Peter Wagner, Dutch Sheets, Rick Joyner, Cindy Jacobs, Mike Bickle, Ted Haggard and others can train us to be “prophets” (Charisma magazine, Dec. 1998). That magic word gives instant credibility in the mind of some."

(4) The Apostles Are Coming To Your City, Ready or Not by Orell Steinkamp, The Plumbline, Vol. 6, No. 2, March/April 2001
In a previous issue of PLUMBLINE, I described the efforts of C. Peter Wagner to create a New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) which he predicts will be even greater in scope and significance than the Protestant Reformation of the 1500's.  The centerpiece of the movement is the purported restoration, by God, of the NT office-gift of "Apostle' to the end-time church. Now Wagner and his apostolic buddies are attempting to move from vision to reality.  In an article titled, APOSTOLIC REFORMATION on his Website www.globalharvestministries.org he reveals moves that are currently underway, to implement his apostolic reformation.  In this article he restates the goals and also the preliminary means to implement them.

(5) The New Apostolic Reformation by Orrel Steinkamp, D. Min, The Plumbline
"C. Peter Wagner is attempting to will into existence what he calls a "New Apostolic Reformation". He tells us in a
book he has edited called "The New Apostolic Churches" of the struggle he had with naming his new reformation. "I needed a name ... For a couple of years I experimented with 'Post denominationalism'. The name I have settled
on for the movement is the New Apostolic Reformation."

(6) Streams, Rivers, Floods, Avalanches by Jewel Grewe, 2000
"A National Symposium on the Post-Denominational Church was convened by Dr. C. Peter Wagner at Fuller Seminary, May 21-23, 1996. Bill Hamon said that "this was a historical occasion in God's annals of Church history. It was prophetically orchestrated by the Holy Spirit to fulfill God's progressive purposes of bringing His church to its ultimate destiny. . . the consensus of the panelists was that there are still apostles and prophets in the Church, and there is an emerging Apostolic Movement that will revolutionize the 21st Century Church". [Quote book] The "Prophets" have scattered throughout the earth making place for the soon to be anointed Apostles. These Apostles will: 1. Remove man-made traditions in the Church. Pastors will be redefined. They will be rather like a coach of a sports team. 2. Bring Cell groups into being. The Pastor (Coach) will make sure everyone works together to fulfill his vision for the Church. This method of organization will actually help maintain more control as the cell groups network."

(7) The New Apostolic Reformation And Other Third Wave Issues by Philip Powell & Jacob Prasch, Tape Transcripts, July 2001
The following files are in WordPad format! Right click the links to download unless you have a WordPad .doc viewer plug-in for your browser. "Philip Powell and Jacob Prasch have just concluded a series of meetings in Brisbane when among other things they sought to counter some of the false teaching relating to the following topics. The messages were recorded on audio and video and are available by contacting the CWM Office in Australia as follows: CHRISTIAN WITNESS MINISTRIES (CWM), PO Box 341 HEALESVILLE VIC 3777  -  Fax +61 (0)3 5962 2615.
MESSAGE 1: WHO IS THE FOUNDATION OF THE CHURCH
Christ or Modern Day Apostles?” Where do Peter Wagner, John Lewis, Mark Conners and Ben Gray Fit In? “For there are false apostles... transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ” - 2 Cor 11:13.
MESSAGE 2: WHEN IS A PROPHET NO PROFIT?
Is Cindy Jacobs Really A Prophet to the Nations? Where do the School of the Prophets and men like Stephen Penny Fit In? “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God:
because many false prophets are gone out into the world” - 1 John 4:1.
MESSAGE 3: BINDING & LOOSING
What Does The Bible Teach About Territorial Spirits & Spiritual Mapping? Are George Otis, Harold Caballeros & the Transformations videos conning you? “And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables”  2 Tim 4:4.
MESSAGE 4: SERVING GOD OR MAMMON?
Can a Gospel that is Free be Sold For Money? Does the message of Copeland, Hinn and Houston reflect true Christianity? Are their different gospel and another Jesus deceiving you? “Many shall follow their … ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you …” - 2 Peter 2: 2 & 3."

(8) Take The City! by Inner City Discernment Ministries
"One of the more recent false concept to sweep the Church, mainly the charismatic segment of the Body is the belief that the Church is to be in the business of "taking" their cities for Christ.   As spiritual and high-minded as this sounds it is without any biblical support or historical precedent."

(9) The Prophets Rise Again by Jewel van der Merwe, Discernment Ministries, 8/01
"It is obvious that we are living in times of great spiritual naivete. The church has strayed so far from the pure Word of God, she no longer recognizes that her place in the world is to be "salt" and "light". Instead, of salt and light, she has allowed pernicious doctrines to enter into her midst which have become like "leaven" which is quickly leavening the whole lump."

(10) Do We Have All Authority? by Mike Oppenheimer, Let Us Reason Ministries, 8/01
"Are we going to take the world for Christ by a miracle working army?"

(11) Do Demons Have Zip Codes? by Chuck Lowe, author of Territorial Spirits and World Evangelisation?, Christianity Today, July 13, 1998
"The closest things to territorial spirits in the New Testament are angels, not demons."

(12) The New Apostolic Government ... What Earthly Good Is It? ... An expose' of the "Open Memorandum Addressing The Twin Towers War" by C. Peter Wagner
commentary by Sandy Simpson, 9/27/01
"That he and a few others want to be the papal voice of Christianity (as if we needed a larger cacophony of voices at this point) is an indictment on Christianity as a whole."

(13) Spiritual Mapping by Rev. Kent Philpott, Miller Avenue Church, 6/99
"It started with John Dawson's book, Taking Our Cities for God, published in 1989 by Creation House. The book's subtitle is: "How to Break Spiritual Strongholds." John Dawson, at that time, directed Youth With A Mission in Los Angeles, California. In a quest for more effective evangelism tools, he taught that demonic forces block gospel efforts."

(14) Repenting For The Sins Of The Nation by D. Stamen, 2001
"The purpose of this article is only to look at the basic scriptures which relate to the matters concerning confession, prayer and repentance, and to show that they say something quite different to these modern ideas."

(15) Concerning Curses by D. Stamen, 2001
"In this second article ( the first one was concerning “ repenting for the sins of the nation” ) we want to look at this idea that “curses” from the past – whether from the person’s own life or from previous generations - can keep Christians in bondage and deprive them of the blessings of God and of their inheritance in Christ."

(16) Territorial Spirits by D. Stamen, 2001
"Where are these things taught in the NT? The simple, comprehensive and conclusive answer is, “ Nowhere!”"

(17) Spiritual Warfare Evangelism: How Did We Get Here? by Orrel Steinkamp, The Plumbline, Volume 6, No. 5 - November/December 2001
"In this issue of Plumbline I will include a short article that summarizes the teaching of geographical spiritual warfare: a concise summary that provides a comprehensive view of this subject.  Following this article I will summarize the historical milieu from which these practices have evolved.  C. Peter Wagner, as well as others, did not cut the current warfare worldview from new cloth."

(18) Latter Rain/Manifest Sons Of God Doctrines - Just Give Me The Facts by Renee Rodriguez, Age To Age, 2001
"The Churches Response To The Manifest Sons of God/Latter Rain Teaching? What is “Latter Rain” Teaching? What is ”Manifest Sons of God” Teaching? Who Are The People Responsible For This Teaching? Where Is The Current Latter Rain Teaching Found Today and Who Is Teaching It?"

(19) The Prophetic Movement by Robert Liichow, Inner City Discernment Ministries, 1997
"Today the Church has never experienced a time when so many have risen up globally and claimed the divine calling of prophet or prophetess. "

(20) The Technology Of Spiritual Warfare Evangelism by Orrel Steinkamp, The Plumbline, Volume 7, No. 1 - January/February 2002
"Mapping the spirit world and its internal organization is not the assignment of the church.  The great commission is not, "Go into all the world and bring down principalities -- but rather "Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature." Mark 16:15. Our choice is very clear!  We must follow the teachings of Jesus, and the practice of the Apostles as recorded in Scripture!

(21) Just Give Me The Facts - New Apostolic Reformation compiled by Renee Rodriguez, updated 3/02
"What is The New Apostolic Reformation? What is the Prophetic? What Is Strategic Level Spiritual Warfare? What About the Terms Used in Spiritual Warfare, What Do They Mean? What is Deliverance Ministry?"

(22) Indigenous People Issues - A Warning About The World Christian Gathering Of Indigenous People by Sandy Simpson, Pacific Waves Newsletter, 5/02
"But I do not endorse movements that, for all their good intentions, are a mixture of good, unbiblical and heretical theology. How can we effectively bring the gospel if that gospel is tainted by the world, the flesh and the devil. We as Christians must stand firm in the faith once for all delivered to the saints. We must not get involved in ecumenical movements that look like the world, act like the world, and instead of bringing the Word to the world are bringing the world to the world."  Go here for a commentary on the full transcript of the "Word To The World" radio programs 541-550. (23) The Apostolic Movement by Rev. Robert Liichow, Discernment Ministry International, 1998
A page with lots of historical background on the Apostolic Movement.

(24) Transformation by Jewel (van der Merwe) Grewe, May/June 2002 Newsletter
"It is sad to observe that we have moved into a time of a new form of "spirituality" where man becomes the ultimate. That which has been tried and proven over the centuries is being discarded like a dirty garment. In the days ahead it will increasingly become less and less popular to say: "Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life"."

(25) Updated!  The Transforming Church by Cross + Word, 7/02
"A major new series in eight (or more) parts looking at the present-day move to cell-churches and home groups. Only parts one to five are online at the moment. Later parts will follow when completed."

The article you are about to read was put together by Concerned Christians, who care for people and the truth. I pray that as you read this article that you will also reflect quietly and prayerfully on what you are reading.

(27) The Faulty Foundation Of The Five-Fold Ministry by Robert M. Bowman, Jr., Christian Research Journal, Fall 1987, page 31
It has recently become popular to speak of "the five-fold ministry," a system of church government with apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers. The neo-Pentecostal "Restoration" movement and its offshoot, "kingdom now" teaching, claims that one of the things which God is "restoring" to the church is this five-fold ministry.

(28) The Spiritual Warfare Movement by Gary Gilley, Southern View Chapel, Tihnk On These Things, Volume 1,  Issue 6, April 1995
It seems that Christians never tire of trying to come up with a new way of dealing with life. We are reminded of the Athenians at the Areopagus who, "Used to spend their time in nothing other than telling or hearing something new" (Acts 17:21).  Read Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3.

(29) The New Apostolic Church by Anton Bosch, Discernment Newsletter, July/August 2002
The Church Growth Movement, finds a champion in the form of author and theologian C. Peter Wagner, who has written copiously in praise of this movement. Although not an organized movement, it does represent a philosophy very prevalent amongst mega-churches. In The New Apostolic Churches(1) he publishes papers by 18 leaders of some of the biggest and most "successful" churches throughout the world. In his introduction to the book he summarizes their commonalities as well as reasons for their success. He has since published a more detailed analysis entitled Churchquake!

(30) The New Apostolic Church Movement by Mike Oppenhiemer, Let Us Reason Ministries, 9/02
Peter Wagner and the apostolic roundtable--understanding the background of the new movement afoot in the church that wants to restore and change the course of Christianity.

(31) Do YOU Want To Be An Apostle? by Mike Oppenhiemer, Let Us Reason Ministries, 9/02
There is a new movement afoot in the church that is restoring an apostolic government under apostolic headmaster Peter Wagner.

(32) Native American Gospel? by The Berean Call, January 1998
The newsletter mentions "Rev. Richard Twiss" (a Lakota Indian) and his concern that native Americans (also
known as First Nation people) have rejected the gospel of Christ because it has not been presented to them "within
the contexts of their spiritual, traditional, and ceremonial life experiences." But for the gospel to be presented in
the context of paganism and idolatry is to confuse and pervert the truth of Christ.

(33) Lying Wonders by Joseph Chambers, Paw Creek Ministries, 10/02
Many different manifestations previously known almost exclusively to the occult are sweeping the church world.  Is it the Holy Spirit or is it “psychic activity?”  You will eventually have to answer that question for yourself, hopefully after you finish this article.

(34) The Changing Face Of Christianity by Tony Pearce, Christian Witness Ministries
At Bonnke's rally in Nigeria, 78 miracles were claimed on stage, but no evidence was found afterwards. Bonnke cursed cancers in the name of Jesus and claimed that those who were blind could now see. The programme then panned to the area below the stage where people from the crowd were being selected as to who could go on stage to testify to healing. There was clear evidence of fakery as most would be participants were barred from the stage. One person who was selected to testify claimed that he was blind and could now see, but it was then shown that he could actually see in the first place. Fifteen people were crushed to death at the rally. The parents of a child who was killed tried to get her body to Bonnke hoping he would raise her from the dead, but were barred from the stage. The family did the next best thing and laid the body on Bonkke's Mercedes Benz in the hope of the child coming back to life. All of this is a far cry from the miracles of the New Testament.

(35) The Church Growth Movement & Purpose Driven Church VERSUS The Bible
A chart that compares the teachings of the Church Growth Movement with those of the Bible. You will be shocked to see just how unbiblical the CGM is, which was conceived by people like C. Peter Wagner and carried out by people like Bill Hybels at Willow Creek.

(36)  Are The Any More False Prophets? by Mike Oppenheimer, Let Us Reason Ministries, 1/31/03
According to some people the answer is no, there are only those learning to practice their gift.

(37) Welcome The New Prophets To The Head Of The  Church - Latter Day Prophets by Mike Oppenheimer, Let Us Reason Ministries, 1/31/03

(38) G12 - Cell Church Movement by Cross + Word, The Transforming Church, Section 9, 2003

(39) Transforming The Church Through The Dialectic by Dean Gotcher, Discernment Newsletter, Issue #14 Volume #2 January/February 2003

It is very troubling to see how the church leadership has fallen victim to the seducing methods used by Satan in their quest for reaching souls for Christ.Jesus warned us of this when He said that there would be those who will say “Lord, Lord . . ..”

(40) Leadership/Managerial Techniques "Transform" New Paradigm Churches by Orrel Steincamp, The Plumbline, Volume 8, No. 2, April-May 2003

Romans 12:1- Unfortunately, it appears that much of the church has reversed this admonition.Cultural dissonance is to be avoided at all costs.Surveys taken from the 'target audience' before a church plant actually fashion the mold into which the gospel message and practice are poured.Selfabsorbed self-centeredness comprises the mold. The mold is audience-shaped.

(41) A New Way Of Thinking by Mike Oppenheimer, Let Us Reason Ministries, 5/10/03

The Church, praxis and New Age influences.

(42) The Dishonoring Of God In Popular Spiritual Warfare Teaching by Bob DeWaay, Critical Issues Commentary, Issue 48
Many popular teachers question God's sovereign rule over His own creation. Their unbiblical scenario goes like this: God made Adam the ruler of the world; Adam committed "treason" and turned the rightful dominion of the earth over to Satan; and Christ's atonement was to regain this lost dominion. According to this theology, however, Christ turned the rulership of the world over to the church when He ascended into heaven. The church consequently lost it back to Satan by ignorance, unbelief, and dis-unity. Now in these last days supposed prophets and apostles are being raised up to take control over the Satanic forces in the heavenlies and Christianize the world. This happens as the church takes cities through binding and casting down the spiritual forces of darkness that rule over them. Many dominion spiritual warfare teachers embrace this scheme, though differing on some details.

(43) Creating A Common Partnership Between The Moneyed Elites And The Religious Elites by S.R. Shearer, 11/28/99
The apostasy and even heresy that has taken root in the church today is becoming ever more appalling and frightful to those serious students of the Word of God who have taken the time to study what's been happening in all that passes at present for "evangelical Christianity"

(44) Rejecting The Transformations Teachings by Rebecca Lindrose, Texas, USA
I have openly stood in opposition to the false teachings of the transformation revivalists in the past and am not ashamed to have my name attached to that position now. In fact, I have felt increasingly frustrated at not being able to publicly expose this false theology to prevent more people from being led astray by deceptive and charismatic personalities from the true doctrine of Jesus Christ.

(45) The G12 Movement In The Church by Mike Oppenheimer, Let Us Reason Ministries, 10/13/03
What's it all about? Part 1.

(46) The "Script" Underlying Spiritual Warfare Christianity by Orrel Steincamp, The Plumbline, Volume 8, No. 4, November/December 2003
In recent decades a radically different script of salvation history worldview has entered the scene.  Unfortimately, it is rarely recognized as being outside the boundaries.  It has many things in common with orthodox Christianity, but its underlying heilgeschichte is fundamentally different.  It is a rival salvation history, which promotes a false gospel.  The current evangelical culture of downplaying theology in favor of pragmatic evangelistic strategies is a main reason why this alien heilgeschicte is often undetected when it creeps, or even stalks boldly, into the church.  This movement appeals widely because  it promises heretofore unheard-of success in evangelism and rapid church growth.

(47) The New "How To" Christianity - Helpful Tools Or Dangerous Weapons? by Sandy Simpson, 8/00, revised 3/04
"... the goal of Christian mission is not success, but faithful witness; not power, but proclamation; not technique, but truth; not method, but message." - Michael Horton, Power Religion, Moody Press, pg. 15

(48) A Call For Repentance! - a debrief on the "A Call For Accountability" and "The Orlando Statement" which was brought to consensus among Third Wave, New Apostolic Reformation false apostles and false prophetsby Sandy Simpson, 3/9/04
A group of the International Coalition of Apostles (ICA), which was organized by "super apostle" C. Peter Wagner and other "apostles and prophets" with the express goal of bringing the entire apostate "Church" under their leadership, recently agreed upon the following "A Call For Accountability".  It is laudable that they are attempting to address unethical and immoral practices in Third Wave churches under their "authority", but you cannot address the symptom if you don't deal with the root of the problem.  The root is the sin of apostasy from the truth.

(49) Theopostic Counseling by Philip Powell, CETF, December 2003, Volume 9.2, Issue 27
Unbiblical psycho-heresy.

(50) Theopostic Ministry - Victim Counseling by Ted Brooks, Testing The Spirits
Jesus is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. We won’t discover truth if we look beyond him.

(51) Apostolic by Robert Liichow, Inner City Discernment Ministry
The most dangerous purveyors of deception are today's restored apostles and prophets.  Why?  Because they purport to speak for our Lord and they claim to hold the greatest authority over the direction of the Church and the lives of God's people. These apostles & prophets are the people that the majority of the other leaders in the charismatic movement look to for new insights, revelation, and vision for the future of the Church.

(52) Will The Real Church Please Stand Up? by Gary Gilley, Think On These Things, June2004
I believe a local church can fail at many things, but it must not fail at holding forth the truth of the living God.  To fail at this is to fail at the primary mission given to the church.  The church is not free to create truth, to supplement truth, to alter truth, or to selectively obey truth.  The church is to exhort in sound doctrine and to refute those who contradict (Titus 1:9).  The church is to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints (Jude 1:3).  The church is to preach the word; be ready, in season, and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction (2 Timothy 4:2).  To not accept these commands as a sacred trust is to totally miss the most important reason for the church’s existence.  But as we will see next time, the twenty-first century, engulfed as it is in postmodernism, is not an environment in which truth can easily flourish.

(53) An Open Letter to the UK Director of World Vision  by Jacob Prasch, Moriel Ministries, 8/04
In the opinion of many people, World Vision has departed from its evangelistic origins and hence from its claims to be an Evangelical organization. It is now deteriorated into a mere social political organization in Evangelical masquerade with a social political gospel that biblically is no gospel at all.

(54) Peter Wagner's Apostles for the Second Apostolic Age  by Mike Oppenheimer, Let Us Reason Ministries, 9/15/04
Wagner's explanation of what is taking place.

(55) Synergy by Sandy Simpson, 9/29/04
Synergy is a concept being adapted and taught today as a major tenet of the Third Wave, New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) movement.  Dutch Sheets was one of the first to introduce this concept to that movement back in the National School of the Prophets - Mobilizing the Prophetic Office Conference at Ted Haggard's New Life Church in Colorado Springs, CO on May 12, 2002.

(56) Richard Twiss Connections by Sandy Simpson, 10/1/04
Richard Twiss is spreading the doctrines of the New Apostolic Reformation and is endorsed by them.  He claims that the Great Spirit of the Indians is the Holy Spirit of the Bible, and endorses ministries who make this same claim.  He endorses and promoted books by people like Daniel Kikawa that present information as fact when it is proven myth.  He continues to teach that the Great Spirit is the Holy Spirit by wearing the cultural items associated with the Great Spirit, even though it is a historical fact that the Great Spirit is a pantheistic god that required blood rituals and human sacrifice.  Richard Twiss claims that what he is doing is not syncretism, when it is the very definition of syncretism.

(57) False Prophecies Of The New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) by Sandy Simpson, 10/03/04
There is so much false prophecy in the NAR that it I could do an entire web site devoted to that issue alone.  If you want to see the daily parade of false prophecies emanating from the NAR, subscribe to the Elijah List.  It means nothing to these false apostles and false prophets to say things in the name of the Lord that not only do not come to pass, but would never come to pass because they are unbiblical and ridiculous.

(58) ADDENDUM - "The New Apostolic Reformation - What is it and where it is going?" by Sandy Simpson, 10/7/04

(61) False Apostles! - The False Apostles Of the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) by Sandy Simpson, 10/13/04
The NAR proponants claim to be foundational Apostles to the modern church.  This claim is exactly what Paul warned the Church about regarding false apostles.  False apostles are identified as those who claim they are equal with the the foundational Apostles.  The NAR proponants go even further. They claim to be GREATER than the original Apostles.

(66) Paul Cain, Latter Rain Prophet of Renown Is Now Discredited by Orrel Steinkamp, The Plumbline, Volume 9, No. 5, December 2004

Paul Cain, a  prophetic legend and a living bridge to William Branham and the Latter Rain of the 50's, has now been revealed to be an alcoholic and a practicing homosexual. Ironically, this disclosure came at the hands of his fellow prophets who had elevated him to a super prophet status and who themselves endeavored to attain the lofty prophetic mantle of Cain himself.

(67) There Are 3 Types Of Predictive "Prophecy" That Can Come True Sometimes - There Is Only 1 Type Of Predictive Prophecy That Comes True All The Time!by Sandy Simpson, 3/05

Prophecy is a broad term.  In the Bible it is often defined as preaching, teaching, exhorting, etc.  Prophecy in modern times has come to mean almost exclusively the prediction of future events.  But this is only one aspect of prophecy as defined in the Word.

The accuracy of oral tradition is, in a word, "inaccurate".  I dare say that if we were able to trace back most oral traditions today, as God sees them from an eternal perspective, we would see the mutations, changes and fabrications involved in modern mythology.  We would also see a lot of "fables".

(72) The Testimony Of Heneri Opukaha'ia - regarding the state of religion and society in Hawaii before the Gospel - A Rebuttal To Daniel Kikawa's Book "Perpetuated In Righteousness" by Sandy Simpson, 5/17/05
This article is a reminder of what Hawaii was like before the Gospel was preached.  This is the account of a very important eyewitness. It is an unfortunate fact that often, by the third generation of Christians in any given area of the world, important information has begun to be lost and forgotten.  This is clearly evident in the writings of people like Daniel Kikawa.  The stark facts, of Hawaiian culture and religion before the Gospel was preached in Hawaii, are made evident by the testimony of a man without whom the peoples of Hawaii would never have had the opportunity to hear the Gospel message and would still be living in the sins of their ancestors.

(75) The Global Day of Prayer by Sarah Leslie
The Global Day of Prayer did not come up on the radar screen until recently, but it was many years in the planning. Sue Conway and I spent several months researching this on the Internet as it developed. The more we delved into it, the more apparent it was to us that this was an event that the organizers truly believe will officially launch the “Kingdom” on earth. The organizers and organizations backing this event are tightly interlocked.  This plan for Kingdom transformation is intended to affect every living person on the face of the earth. There are many disturbing references to dominion as an activity that the church has the right to engage in by whatever means – whether it be psycho-social marketing techniques,  collaboration or force. The Word of God (the Gospel) is de-emphasized in favor of spiritual warfare type activities and social action. Marketplace “transformation” is particularly concerning because of the obvious opportunities for exploitation of the poor. Kingdom-building activities will be costly to families, women, children, elderly and infirm.

(76) What Is "Transformation"? by Lynn & Sarah Leslie, 8/15/05
In today’s neo-evangelical church, the term “transformation” is currently in vogue. Various churches and denominations claim to be undergoing “transformation.” This word no longer refers to the humble sanctification of the individual believer. Rather, it now refers to an orchestrated, systemic and revolutionary overhaul of the global church, including the “transformation” of cities, societies, cultures, marketplaces, and more.

(77) Prayer Center of the Pacific by Mike Oppenheimer, Let Us Reason Ministries, 10/08/05
Wanting to see ones communities transformed is a good goal but it also depends on how one tries to get it accomplished. If it is not done the Lord's way then God is not involved in it. Virginia and David Domligan head up this prayer organization here in Hawaii. On her program Virginia can be heard speaking of  enticing people with a Double and triple portion tonight ( even though there is no such thing in the Bible to be passed on). She calls out demons from Christians and teaches about fasting to break the power of the enemy in ones life as well as spiritual warfare teaching. Fasting has nothing to do with gaining power to cast out demons in the heavenlies. The Bible mentions that deliverance in a person could not be successful with certain demonic possessions unless the apostles fasted along with praying.

(78) Three Fallacies Of Third Wave Spiritual Warfare Teachings by Sandy Simpson, 10/19/05
A recent Third Wave newsletter illustrates the ridiculous and erroneous nature of New Apostolic "spiritual warfare" teachings.

(79) Why Prayer Warfare Is Heresy by Herescope, 12/05
Another subtle deception abounding, comes through the use of terminology to lure Christians into thinking that a very high form of godliness will earn them a distinctive place in JOEL'S ARMY as a potentate. There is a great emphasis on praying and becoming holy before the Lord. It sounds so good - so attainable. Yet when Bob Jones and Mike Bickle discuss intercession, a perfectly scriptural term, they are meaning something quite unscriptural.

(80) Dominionism and the Rise of Christian Imperialism by Sarah Leslie, 12/05
This paper is a brief overview of the three main dominionist movements operating inside evangelicaldom and examines how all three of these sects are now converging around a global “kingdom” agenda. This paper is not a treatise on doctrine, nor is it an historical record, nor is it a thorough analysis of the multifarious streams of evangelical dominionism. This paper does not cover the broader issue of dominionist sects within other world religions, except for a few brief noteworthy mentions. To examine the totality of the individuals, the organizations, and their cross-linkages would require an exhaustive study which is beyond the scope of this brief synopsis. Even so, every point made in this paper could be validated by dozens, sometimes hundreds, of pieces of documentation. The inquiring reader may check out the footnotes and references. Only a small handful of Christian discernment and apologetics ministries, of which this writer is a part, have been paying attention to the intersection of the dominionist streams. The apologetic ministries fulfill a Scriptural role to examine and expose false doctrines and teachers, and to warn other believers of heresies (Jude 3, 2 Peter 2:1). Increasingly, over the past two decades, many apologists have become seduced by dominionism, blunting their ability to critically examine the roots and fruits of this rapidly rising new church era.

(81) The Dominion Mandate and the Christian Reconstruction Movement by Bob DeWaay, Critical Issues Commentary, 12/05
World political and social dominion for the church was not envisioned by the writers of the New Testament. The idea of a “remnant” of faithful people is predominant in Scripture, particularly the Old Testament. This fits Paul's teaching in Romans and the universal witness of the Scripture. It never was the majority who were faithful to God. This also fits with the testimony of church history unto this day. The Reconstructionist agenda has had no historical fulfillment, Biblical or otherwise. It is not understood or clearly taught by the writers of the New Testament. The thousands of years they claim to have to make it happen would not suffice even if God were to allow history to run that long before the Lord's return. Jesus asked, “When the Son of Man returns, will He find faith [lit. `the faith'] on the earth?” (Luke 18:8) He did not seem to assume He would return to a Christianized society.

(82) Who's Who In The New Apostolic by Discernment Research Group, Herescope, 12/30/05
In 1999 C. Peter Wagner, chief architect of and salesman for the New Apostolic Reformation, lists two significant members of this group. From Wagner's 1999 book Churchquake: how the new apostolic reformation is shaking up the church as we know it (Regal) comes these two statements: "Bill Hybels, new apostolic pastor of Willow Creek Community Church, Barrington, Illinois, and a longtime friend of Robert Schuller, agrees that pastors have the responsibility of determining the purpose of each corporate gathering." (p. 179) "New apostolic churches, like Rick Warren's, turn this [leadership and ministry] around 180 degrees, as he explains in his best-seller, The Purpose Driven Church (Zondervan)." (p. 213)

(84) How Small Groups Are "Transformed" by Herescope, 1/26/06
The process of group dynamics is important to understand in the context of this current series of Herescope posts, which has focused on the evangelical post-modern paradigm shift envisioned and orchestrated by Leadership Network.

(85) Dominionism and its Human Empire by Johan Malan, University of Limpopo, South Africa (February 2006)
Millions of Christians all over the world are confronted with the growing tide of dominionism. This is a form of Christian humanism in which believers see themselves as commissioned and empowered by God to manifest His kingdom on earth to the good of all. Dominionism is based upon kingdom theology since it claims to physically reveal the kingdom of God with all its benefits to humanity. Its institution is described as reconstructionism or a transformation movement because of the far-reaching changes that society must undergo to ensure a better life for all. This situation is described by some as “heaven on earth” and presupposes the incapacitating of Satan’s opposing kingdom of darkness.

(86) Dominionism Exposed compiled by Sandy Simpson, 2/2/06
Kingdom-Dominion, or 'Restoration' theology has risen to popular acceptance in the last thirty years or so, gaining confidence and strength with time and developing its doctrine as it progressed.

(87) New Doctrines Of The Land by Herescope, Discernment Research Group, 2/16/2006
New heretical doctrines have come into the evangelical church during the past half century. These doctrines did not exist in the previous 1950 years of the church. That is because they are not found in the Bible. Sometimes the heresies are newly defined old terminologies, a new "understanding" of an old doctrine. But most often these heresies are easily recognizable as such because a phrase or word is used that cannot be located anywhere in the Bible.

(88) A/G Pastors Ousted For Opposing Transformation Of The Church Letter To District Presbytery Dated: February 4, 2005

(89) Dominionism and Kingdom Now Teachings by Discernment Research Group, Herescope, 2/23/2006
This newsletter provides a broad overview of the history of the dominionism doctrines arising since the late 1940s, including some rare documentary material by pastors and organizations who opposed the various dominionism movements.

(90) Using CHANGE to facilitate TRANSFORMATION by Discernment Research Group, Herescope, 2/23/2006
The Discernment Research Group has received numerous requests to discuss in more detail the PROCESS of transformation. The following series of posts will attempt to answer this pressing need. CHANGE is a necessary component to create church "transformation." Change is a foundational assumption -- something that everyone must agree is necessary -- before the process of transformation can begin. Change is often predicated upon a "crisis" that is created in order to propel transformation.

(91) The Newest Heresy of the NAR: Orality by Discernment Research Group, Herescope, 3/8/2006
The latest fad is potentially the most grievous heresy to arise in the recent history of the Church. It is a repudiation of literacy -- the written Word. It is now widely being taught to missionaries, particularly through mission groups closely associated with the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR).

(92) Worldview & Vision by Discernment Research Group, Herescope, 3/21/2006
Herescope has been looking into the topic of Worldview. We have previously noted Chuck Colson's recent partnership with Rick Warren to package and market their particular "brand" of Worldview education to the rest of the world. This new partnership is illustrative the convergence of the three main branches of evangelicaldom around the doctrines and practices of dominionism.  Read Part 1 - Worldview & Vision & Part 2 - A Volatile Combination

(93) Transforming Society by Discernment Research Group, Herescope, 4/6/2006
Even during Jesus’ ministry the question of the role of the Kingdom in society was a hot issue. Both Jesus’ disciples and the Jews wanted Him to transform their society to one that was just, liberated from Roman oppression and free of poverty. Satan tried to convince Him to build His kingdom on feeding the hungry (Matthew 4:3); Judas argued that the precious ointment could have been used to feed the poor and the other disciples could not wait for Him to set up His Kingdom and chase the Romans into the sea.

(94) Transforming Churches by Discernment Research Group, Herescope, 4/7/2006
Part of the whole transformation process that is going on today has to do with the transformation of churches. Already in the '70s the environment was being created to prepare churches and leaders for radical change. One of the war cries of the early charismatic movement was “new wine in new wineskins,” meaning that the church has to be changed or transformed in order to accept the “new wine.” New wine was interpreted to mean “the new thing that God is doing.” This is of course not what Jesus meant at all when He said those words as recorded in Matthew 9:17.

(95) Transformations II, Political Christianity and False African Revivals by Kato Mivule, January 9, 2006
Reports have been circulating Christendom especially in the West about a “Revival” that is going on in Uganda and Africa by the Sentinel Group and their ‘Transformations II’ DVD/Video Series. A careful examination of what Sentinel Group calls ‘Revival ‘ and ‘Transformation’ is nothing short of an advancement of ‘Western Global Civilization, Democracy, and Christianity’.  A ‘Transformation’ is going on for real in Africa and yes, I will not dispute the fact as reported by George Otis, Peter Wagner and the ‘Transformations II’ Video/DVD Series. However, one has to carefully look at the “Transformations” going on in Africa and ask a simple question, who is ‘transforming’ Christianity in Africa today? Is this the working of Christ Jesus or a joint effort of Man and Satan? The fruits tell as we see the Church in Africa being conformed to this world and not transformed to the Image of Christ Jesus…

(96) The Global Day of Prayer: Sunday, 4th of June, 2006 by Moriel Ministries, 05/15/06
http://www.discernment-ministries.org/NLMayJune_2005.htm
http://www.discernment-ministries.org/NLJulyAugust_2005.htm
I commend these articles to you as they once more expose the political influences and agendas that are clearly manipulating the global initiatives of many of today’s so-called influential ‘evangelicals’. Locally God’s people should pray against the dark and evil forces to be found at the heart of the thinking behind this ‘Global Day of Prayer’ initiative.

(97) "Fiery agents of transformation" by Discernment Research Group, 6/05/2006
But "marketplace evangelism" is a planned global expansion of corporate profit-making interests, working hand-in-hand with church (mission) leaders and fragile (and vulnerable) national sovereignties. Because of our form of government in America, there are many safeguards ensuring that that people are not tyrannized by the excesses this collaborative structure. This collaboration is also known as the 3-legged stool, and it is being viewed as a useful tool to implement this virulent new dominionism. The potential for abuses to freedom, liberty, and to true Gospel evangelism are unlimited.

(98) Announcing -- Philanthropic Apostles! by Discernment Research Group, Tuesday, June 13, 2006
C. Peter Wagner, leader of the New Apostolic Reformation and Rick Warren's advisor, has done it again. He's concocted another new kind of apostle -- the philanthropic apostle. This new creature is obviously not a Scriptural term. But this role is an essential feature of the new kingdom dominionism/transformation agenda.

(99) The Theophostic Apple: Think Before You Bite by Jan Fletcher, Lying Spirits, 6/06
Can you eat an apple core without chewing through the outer part of the apple first? Though common sense would say no, nonetheless, that’s the conclusion of Elliot Miller in his two-part evaluation on Theophostic Prayer Ministry, published in the Christian Research Journal, Vol. 29, numbers 2 and 3.

(100) The Manipulations of Dominionism by Sarah Leslie, Discernment Newsletter, July/August 2006
Dominionism is a form of futurism. Futurism is the belief that man can create his own future. This belief requires that man manipulate things in the present.

(101) Foundation Imperialism by Discernment Research Group - Herescope, Discernment Newsletter, July/August 2006
It seems like an extraordinary coincidence. C. Peter Wagner launched his new "philanthropic apostles" at the same time that Bill Gates, the world's richest billionaire, retired from running the Microsoft Corporation to spend his time doing philanthropy at The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

(102) The Manipulations of Dominionism by Sarah Leslie, Discernment Newsletter, Volume 17, Number 4, July/August 2006
Dominionism is a form of futurism. Futurism is the belief that man can create his own future. This belief requires that man manipulate things in the present.

(103) It's All About Jesus! - Report On Trip To Africa including T.B. Joshua, Nigerian Crusades and Tranformations South Africa by Jewel Grewe, Dicernment Ministries Newsletter, Volume 17, Number 6, Novemeber/December 2006
We did also witness another “breed” of Christian in Nigeria who have been greatly influenced by the Word/Faith prosperity teaching and also by the Apostles and Prophet movement.

(104) ... and all liars ... by Sandy Simpson, 11/05/06
There is a lesson for all true believers in recent events.  Have nothing to do with deeds of darkness perpetrated by false brothers.  Reject heresy.  Mark and avoid false teachers.

(105) Networking The Church by Herescope, 2/21/07
Transforming the church -- and the world mission movement -- into a gigantic networked system of spiraling linked groups will conform the global church to the global governance model discussed in the previous series of posts. This is indeed a paradigm shift! Read Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7 & Part 8.

(106) The Dominion Mandate and the Christian Reconstruction Movement by Bob DeWaay, 2/07
A recent theological movement known as Christian Reconstruction has made a significant impact on American Christianity in the past several decades. It is based on a Reformed, Calvinistic view of theology with some significant, unique twists. The most prominent one is the conviction that the Scripture gives the church a mandate to take dominion over this world socially and culturally before the bodily return of Jesus Christ.1 This teaching is known as the “dominion mandate.”

(107) Networking Mission by Herescope, 3/29/07
A discussion of the networking of the church would not be complete unless it also examines the networking of global mission groups.

(108) Early Networks by Herescope, 4/5/07
Fuller Theological Seminary was a network hub for these young leaders who went on to become influential in evangelicalism and the world mission movement. Fuller modeled itself after secular institutions of higher learning by purposefully concentrating on training a generation of academic leaders who could then practice intellectual infiltration, diffusing the new doctrines of neoevangelicalism throughout other evangelical colleges and seminaries, publishing houses and mission agencies.

(109) The New Spiritual Warfare Strategies by T.A. McMahon, The Berean Call, 1997
Sadly, many who are a part of the spiritual warfare movement will see our concerns as ignorance based on the presumption that we have not "been there, done that." The more charitable participants in SLSW perceive us as either "just not called to the spiritual front lines" or "pitifully blind to the dynamic things the Holy Spirit is doing in our day." On the contrary, rather than quenching or grieving the Holy Spirit, we are simply trying to point to that which the Spirit of Truth has already made clear in the Scriptures for truly effective spiritual warfare. Read Part 1 & Part 2.

(110) Joel's Army - The New Breed by Jewel Grewe, Discernment Ministries Newsletter, May-June 2007
In researching the subject further there seems to be overwhelming writings that do indicate that a Children’s Crusade did occur and in Cloyes, France there is a stain-glassed window that portrays the same.   However, the important point is that children are not to be manipulated and taught what is beyond what a child is to learn. They must be taught the very basics, line up line – precept upon precept. – and allowed to be a child. They are not prepared to be “trained” in the spirit realm.

(111) Transformation Africa 2007: The Deception Continues by Prof Johan Malan, Middelburg, South Africa (May 2007)
Graham Power’s idea that more power will be generated by prayers offered from the top of high mountains has been derived from the strategic spiritual warfare approach followed by George Otis, Peter Wagner, Cindy Jacobs, Ted Haggard and others. This type of prayer is aimed at pulling down demonic strongholds in heavenly places, but has no biblical foundation. We must revert to the basics of the gospel message, in which the major perspective is the counselling of sinners, preferably as individuals or in small groups. The transformation of entire societies will only occur after Christ has come to reward His saints and judge His enemies.

(112) Kingdom-Now "Prophets" Unite on 07/07/07 by Jackie Alnor, Apostasy Alert, 5/14/07
This week the Elijah List, an umbrella group of today’s prominent false prophets, sent out a notice of a coming event this summer:

(113) Dominionism And The Rise Of Christian Imperialism by Sarah Leslie, 5/07
Conspiracy theorizing about the Christian Right’s supposedly “secret” agenda involves highlighting the hate-mongering and bizarre ideas of a handful of Christian Right players while neglecting the broad popularity of dominion theology.

(114) The New Prophets And Apostles and Superstition by Sandy Simpson, 5/22/07
False prophets have always been known and identified as using divination and augury to try to set dates for certain events.  The dates they set, though they hold festivals to celebrate them, never produce the results they predict.  Their superstitious behavior and their adherence to these mythologies are one way to identify them as false prophets.

(115) "River Flush USA" Event To Precede 7/7/7 "The Call--Nashville" reported by Sandy Simpson, 6/5/07
The Wagners, Chuck Pierce, Jim & Faith Chosa, et al have "prepared the way" so to speak by conducting an occultic event called, "River Flush, USA" where they used Native American and New Age shamanistic techniques to conduct deliverance of the midwestern and southern continental US's river systems, which they claim are being used as a "vast network and communications base for the 'prince of the power of the air' and for the second heaven principalities to legally link into the earth."

(116) All That Glitters is not God’s Glory by Jackie Alnor, Apostasy Alert, 6/10/07
The latest charismatic craze heralding the long-awaited "Latter Rain" has fallen in Idaho – and I really mean fallen. How can the ‘holy laughter’-shaking-drunkenness craze be outdone? How about with the gemstone-‘weight-loss’-‘hair growth’ revival? We’re talking major signs and wonders here! That’s right – gemstones are falling from the sky in Coeur d'Alene. We can call this the "Chicken-Little Latter Rain Revival." It’s raining cheap jewelry.

(117) The "7-M Mandate" by Herescope, 6/15/07
"Our theological bedrock is what has been known as Dominion Theology. This means that our divine mandate is to do whatever is necessary, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to retake the dominion of God's creation which Adam forfeited to Satan in the Garden of Eden. It is nothing less than seeing God's kingdom coming and His will being done here on earth as it is in heaven."--C. Peter Wagner, letter, May 31, 2007, red added.

(118) Seven Apostolic Spheres by Herescope, 6/25/07
“We all agree that the society to be transformed is not just one big conglomerate, but a unified whole that is made up of several vital pieces, each one of which must take its own path toward transformation. These segments of society should be seen as apostolic spheres.”--C. Peter Wagner, The Church in the Workplace, (Regal, 2006), p. 112 [emphasis added]. The quote above comes from a chapter in C. Peter Wagner’s book The Church in the Workplace, which is an account of the marketplace transformation movement. This book is an attempt to justify a new role for the church co-mingling with the corporate business world, based on the newly concocted doctrines of C. Peter Wagner, George Otis, Ed Silvoso, Dennis Peacocke, and a host of other Latter Rain and Reconstructionist leaders.

(119) Dominionism: The New Christian Fascism? - Is it ultimately that different from Islamic Fascism? by Sandy Simpson, 6/29/07
One of the lies those who follow heretics are believing today is the lie of Dominionism.  This false theology gets believers to focus their attention on what God has NOT ordained.  Then they are swept away in the pantheistic mysticism that has taken up residence in many churches, relying on their feelings to guide them.  At that point they are already following the enemy and don't even know it.  If they would search the Scriptures daily they would know they are a tool of the enemy.  But rather than repent they continue down the path of heresy, carrying out the ridiculous edicts of false apostles, the false prophecies of self-proclaimed "prophets", and passing along the fables false teachers make up daily to tickle the ears of their followers until their consciences are branded with a hot iron and they can no longer discern truth from error.  At that point they have given in to delusion.  When God allowed Pharaoh many chances to repent and he hardened his heart, God finally hardened it for him.  God will do the same when He ultimately sends a great delusion on those who no longer have a love of the truth.  These deluded ones will end up being the same Fascists as their counterparts in Islam.

(120) Updated! Pre Millennial And Post Millennial Doctrines Do Not Mix by Sandy Simpson, 7/13/07
Many Christians today (having allowed themselves to be diapraxed by false teachers on TV, in books, in seminars and on tape) have begun to accept a mixture of Pre Mil and Post Mil doctrines.  Many claim they still hold to a Pre Trib Rapture (or another Pre Mil scenario) and at the same time would claim that Christians are in a great end times revival, that "Transformation" is taking place all over the world, and that our mandate is to retake dominion over the whole world including its businesses, social agendas and political arenas (a Post Mil scenario).  But what many "Christians" today do not realize is: the mixture they have accepted is oxymoronic.

(121) Updated! The Doctrines of Dominionism by Herescope, 7/9/07 - also read Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7, Part 8, Part 9 & Part 10.
One does not have to wade very far into the waters of Dominionism before encountering an old Hermetic heresy that heaven and earth can become united, as illustrated by the quotation above. This doctrine is now rampantly taught throughout the New Age Movement and the New Apostolic Reformation, as well as mission organizations and political left and right Dominionist movements.

(122) Proponents Of A New Paradigm by Jackie Alnor, Apostasy Alert, 8/07
"In 1984 Bob Jones of the Kansas City false prophets, according to Wes Campbell11 was told by 'god,' 'The Church is going to go into a time of deprivation.' After that time 'god' was going to 'throw a massive party.' This was to be followed by a bloody civil war in the Church.. . Counterfeit revivalists . . . have built on this false prophecy to project ideas about the civil war which is about to engulf the end time Church. They speak of the 'blue coats' from the North fighting the 'gray coats' from the South... the blue coats stand for the revelatory - the revelation, and the gray for gray matter - man's wisdom. Rick Joyner12 is convinced that the grays, whom he characterizes as 'spiritually ruthless and cruel,' must be 'confronted and exposed and either converted or removed from their place of influence in the church. After the grays, who he says constitute ' nearly half of the believers in the world today', are defeated, there will be 'an entirely new definition of Christianity'. As Joyner declared, 'Believers and unbelievers alike will think that it is the end of Christianity as we know it, and it will be. Through this, the very definition of Christianity will be changed, for the better.' "Fact is, if you alter 'Christianity' so that it's no longer recognizable, then it's no longer Christianity!"

(123) Does Matthew 16:28 teach the kingdom already came on earth and it has been here all along? by Mike Oppenheimer, 8/8/07
Jesus needs to return to establish the kingdom on earth permanently. This encompasses His physical return with angels and glory that will be seen by all.

(124) Doctrines Of Devils by Jackie Alnor, Apostasy Alert, 8/19/07
Anyone who has read my Reflections much in the past two years knows that I continually expose doctrines of devils being brought into the church under the guise of the latest wave of the spirit. Solomon said "there is nothing new under the sun," and that is very clear by looking at how the devil has packaged his doctrines over the years to appear as something new when nothing is new but the Emperor’s new clothes in which he dresses them. It’s sort of funny when we hear about the newest and most exclusive religious group or movement showing up advertising their latest discoveries as the most provocative of all time.

(125) Building on the Transformations Foundation by Herescope, Wednesday, September 19, 2007
Rutz's theology is built on the foundation of the new doctrines and practices of what is now called The New Apostolic Reformation. In particular, his book gives great credence to George Otis of The Sentinel Group and his Transformations and Transformations II video series.

(126) The End Of Orthodoxy by Herescope, 9/24/07
The New Apostolic Reformation is all about changing orthodoxy. But the leaders don't necessarily challenge orthodoxy head-on. Rather they are going about it in a different way. Sometimes they do an "end-run" around orthodoxy. Other times, rather than dismissing the fundamentals of the faith entirely, they propose adopting a more "generous orthodoxy" based on postmodern assumptions about the nature of man on earth. The resultant "re-thinking" has had the effect of adding new tenets, methods, practices and beliefs to the faith. Adding to the faith with "new truths" creates a synthesis.

(127) Shamanism in the Church - Occult "Eagle Spirituality" Manifests in Popular "Prophetic" Ministries by Mark Dinsmore, The Berean Call, 10/20/07
So why do the neo-prophets and apostles of today use the eagle as a symbol of choice? Many "prophetic" ministries associate eagles with tremendous natural vision and observable qualities of "rising above;" but like shamans and seers-ancient and modern-they err in assigning to eagles spiritual qualities.

(129) Spiritual Pyromaniacs by Jackie Alnor, Apostasy Alert, 11/12/07
You’ve heard the saying, "If you play with fire you’re going to get burnt." Today’s "Christian" Gnostics seem to have an obsession with the elements of earth, wind, water, and fire. When we watch "Christian" television, be it Sky Angel, TBN, or the God Channel, we hear the televangelists and "prophetic" folks scream "Fire"! over people who react with wild jerkings and flailing of limbs as they go down in a heap on the floor. What is this "fire" being thrown around on these platforms in such a showy fashion?

(130) Rethinking Eschatology: Dominionists on the Move by Discernment Research Group, Herescope, 12/6/07
This past weekend, December 4, 2007, in Dallas, Texas, there was an Acts 29 Conference. It was called Eschatology and the Marketplace: Rethinking the Future and sponsored by the marketplace transformation apostles. This conference is an interesting precursor to another marketplace transformation conference, which is immediately following Robert Schuller's Rethink Conference (see previous blog posts), and called Reclaiming the 7 Mountains the 2008 Church in the Workplace Conference. This Reclaiming the 7 Mountains Conference will be held in Atlanta, Georgia on January 24-26. This "Rethinking the Future" eschatology conference was hosted by the RiosBrook Foundation. Linda Rios Brook, president of this foundation, is closely associated with C. Peter Wagner and a member of his International Coalition of Apostles. She heads Acts 29, which is variously described as "a think tank seeking answers to social and cultural issues through the marketplace" and the "Apostolic Council for Transformation in Society." (131) Prognosticators in the Land by Jackie Alnor, Apostasy Alert, 12/30/07
Every year around this time we see news features that look back at the year to size up the events that took place. In the church world, 2007 seemed somewhat typical – no big revivals, true or false, to report on. The biggest thing to happen this year were the killings that took place in Colorado at YWAM and at Ted Haggard’s former church New Life Church. We also had the 7-7-7 let-down of Lou Engle’s "The Call" that was hyped up to be the expectant "shift" in the heavenlies – a big dud! Then two scandalous marriage break-ups of Juanita Bynum and Paula White. Nothing earth-shattering there! And 2007 was wrapped up in the announcement of the televangelist investigation of Senator Grassley that is ongoing. But the year’s biggest dud is the prophecy record of the "Christian" prognosticators. These men and women in the apostolic/prophetic movement get together at the beginning of every year and publish their prognostications for the coming year. They already have their latest predictions for 2008 on DVD for sale so they can make a quick buck by selling you "hidden truth" all for $69.00. So-called prophets Chuck Pierce, Dutch Sheets, Stacey Campbell, Denny Cline, and Steve Shultz will tell us what God is doing in 2008, as if God is tied into our calendar!

(132) 2008: The year of the "Great Shift"? by Herescope, 12/31/07
Below is a selected list of New Year "prophecies," messages and conferences from the New Apostolic Reformation leaders in the evangelical world. You will notice the strong Dominionism themes which call for the transformation of culture and nations, bringing heaven to earth, perfecting the Bride of Christ on earth, training Joel's Army, taking over the neo-Kuyperian spheres of society, etc. These messages have little or nothing to do with the Gospel of repentance and the cross. The two-edged sword of the Word of God operating in the hearts of men for salvation is being replaced by these kingdom-building activities to transform the earth. There is an inexplicable and formidable silence on the part of evangelical leaders as these heresies sweep over the church unchallenged and unchecked, usurping the simplicity of the Gospel with the distorted doctrines in evidence below.

(133) The Roots and Fruits of the New Apostolic Reformation  by Bob DeWaay, Critical Issues Commentary, Issue 103 - November / December 2007
Church history has shown that whenever new claimants to the office of apostle have arisen, so have false teachings. The teachings of many such persons today, as we have seen, are shocking in the extremity of their error. Yet C. Peter Wagner claims that churches that he terms “apostolic” in this new sense are part of the fastest growing segment of the church in the world today.34 Perhaps he is right; but if he is, this is proof of massive end time apostasy and not the revival he claims it to be. The only binding authority in the church is that of Scripture. God does not bind us to mixture, error, or the musings of men. The false apostles and prophets of the NOLR and NAR have no power over the true, blood-bought church of God. Prophets that are less than inerrant have nothing to sell but fear: “When a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the thing does not come about or come true, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him” (Deuteronomy 18:22). The grandiose claims that span from Leade, to Warnock, to Branham, to Paulk, and to Hamon have never come to pass, and they never will. There will be no virgin born, many-membered man-child, Elijah company, new breed of man, new incarnation of the Christ on earth or any other such blasphemy. The role these terms describe is that of antichrist. The true Christ will return bodily and catch his church up to meet Him in the air (1 Thessalonians 4:17).

(135) Sickles Ready to Reap Nations? by Herescope, 1/10/08
Every year the leaders of the New Apostolic Reformation release their "prophecies" for the coming year. This year's prophecies are even more bold about proclaiming that the "church" will "judge" the nations.

(136) Seven Spheres of Influence by Herescope, 1/15/08
This blog has focused many posts on C. Peter Wagner's agenda, as part of the New Apostolic Reformation, to influence the 7 spheres or 7 mountains of culture, by actually changing nations and governments, cultural and social structures, in the name of "building the kingdom of God on earth." In C. Peter Wagner's "prophecy" above, he says that 2008 will have "The anointing for dominion" where "[e]ach sector of society will begin to be touched by the power of God in new fresh ways from government, education, the medical fields, media, the arts and other areas."

(137) How to "Conquer the 7 Spheres"  by Herescope, 1/19/08
This quotation originated from an interview done by marketplace transformation "apostle" Os Hillman with Loren Cunningham, founder of Youth With a Mission (YWAM), who claims to have had a vision of 7 "spheres" of society conjointly with Bill Bright of Campus Crusade. In a previous post we challenged the credibility of this story, believing it to be revisionist history. One area of marketing emphasis is clearly youth. Another focus is the workplace.

(138) Does Jesus’ command in Mt. 25 mean we are to take care for the world? by Mike Oppenheimer, Let Us Reason Ministries, 1/23/08
Matthew 25:31-46 ... Many have this as their theme and a requirement for a social gospel, they have changed the text to a general principle that is applied to everyone. Jesus’ principle of We are to do unto others as we would have them do unto us is to be our lifestyle but in this rebuke it is more specific. Christians are to help in various ways but this is not our specific mission to solve poverty or disease. Of course, if people are starving they cannot listen to a spiritual message about their soul too well. We should be there for catastrophes such as earthquakes and floods... What of the poverty in the church, are we to feed the world and not the brethren? Isn’t this what Jesus said to do in Mt.25. Unfortunately Mt. 25 is often used for a general humanitarian effort of the church.

(139) Creating Heaven on Earth by Herescope, 2/14/08
The false gospel of building the kingdom of God on earth incorporates the age-old occult teaching that man's efforts and activities will bring Heaven to Earth. This teaching has been lurking off stage in the evangelical world for several decades. It is now building steam as the hottest new teaching to make the New Apostolic Reformation circuit. And it has gone mainstream with N.T. Wright's new book Surprised by Hope.

(140) Deliverance! - A Biblical Guide To Freedom From "Another Spirit" - The Possible Consequence Of The Unbiblical Practice Of "Slain In The Spirit" by Sandy Simpson, 2/08
The cases are legion.  Let's look at John (a psuedonym) as one case in thousands that I read through the years in the emails sent to my site.

(141) The "Dread Champion Army" by Herescope, 2/22/08
The false prophecy above has been touted by New Apostolic Reformation leader Bill Hamon for years. In keeping with this timetable, the pitch and intensity of the military rhetoric of this branch of the global Dominionist movement has substantially increased since the beginning of 2008. Hyper-esoteric language enshrouds the calls for warriors and warfare with increasing fervor and zeal. One can only wonder how long before this transforms into real warfare with actual warriors.

(142) The Dark Side of Jealousy by Herescope, 3/13/08
The teaching about creating heaven on earth can be found in both the New Age/New Spirituality and the New Apostolic Reformation/Emergent movements. The teaching claims that God's Kingdom will be built on earth, Armageddon will be bypassed, and Paradise restored. The biblical phrase from the Lord's Prayer, cited by Bill Hamon in his last sentence quoted directly above, now carries the meaning "as above, so below." This idea comes from Hermeticism; it is not a Christian, nor a biblical teaching. It should not surprise us that a doctrine imported into neoevangelicalism from the occult world would begin to bear evil fruit. Wherever one finds the utopian language of peace, love and harmony on earth, it quickly secedes into warfare and Dominionism language!

(143) Does Gen.1 28 mean we are to take “dominion” over all creation today? by Mike Oppenheimer, Let Us Reason Ministries, 3/08
Dominion does not mean we as the church or government are to rule over humans or nations. This wanting to rule over other people (dominion) is from man’s fallen nature. God made man to serve just as Jesus gave us the example as a perfect man- He came to serve.

(144) Let's take dominion NOW! by Mike Oppenheimer, Let Us Reason Ministries, 3/08
Peter Wagner's admission of dominionism and how he arrives at his justification for it.

(145) Elijah List False Teachings and False Prophecies Archive by Holly Pivec, Spirit of Error, 4/11/08
But others in the apostolic-prophetic movement believe that “apostles” and “prophets” are giving new doctrinal revelation to the church (new teachings not found in the Bible) and that all Christians must submit to the “apostles” and “prophets” — in fact, the whole world must submit to them. A well-known supporter of these teachings is C. Peter Wagner ... He calls the apostolic-prophetic movement the “New Apostolic Reformation.” I may also start using this term to clarify which part of the movement my blog is critiquing — the part that shares Wagner’s unorthodox views of apostles and prophets.

(147) Tinker with Theology, Tinker with Man by Herescope, 4/29/08
When neoevangelical leaders began concocting new doctrines and new understandings of old doctrines, they began tinkering with theology.

(148) Was Paul A Pragmatist? by Herescope, 5/15/08
From the very beginning the Leadership Network forged a brilliant dialectic process in order to facilitate the postmodern church era. On the one hand they created the mystical syncretistic Emergent movement. On the other hand they wrought the pragmatic, Drucker-driven, utilitarian, Megachurch model. These two creations would appear to be opposite extremes. One pole could then work off the other. The utilitarian megachurch could be accused of too much dry, dead pragmatism -- spirit-stifling numbers-driven, business results & methods-driven, impersonal franchises, etc. In a planned reaction against this, the hip, young Emergent would arise, claiming that the worse excesses of stale programmed structure inhibits spiritual growth and vitality, therefore we need something new. And the tenets and practices of the New (Apostolic) Reformation would arise as the perfect synthesis solution. Neither extreme is theologically sound, nor is the proposed third-way compromise of a new reformation. The New Apostolic Reformation/Transformation (in its many guises) would serve as a perfect vehicle in juxtaposition to the old orthodoxies, fundamentalism, theology and doctrine.

(149) Are we seeing the Latter Rain that the book of Joel predicted? by Mike Oppenheimer, Let Us Reason Ministries, 7/4/08
There are three facets to keep in mind to have a correct interpretation of Acts 2:17 which refers to Joel 2,3. 1) time 2) place 3) recipients. All three need to be accurate to determine if in fact it this outpouring has taken place. 1.Time- this occurs in the tribulation period near the end, so it is impossible for this to be happening now. 2.Place- It begins in Israel specifically Mt. Zion (Jerusalem). 3. Recipients- It is to the Jewish people primarily for them to be saved. If this is not taking place with all three elements then it has not happened as the Scripture records and it is not fulfilled prophecy.

(150) Kicking the Kingdom into High Gear by Herescope, 7/15/08
There is a massive re-"alignment" going on in the so-called "apostolic" realm these days, and most of attention is being concentrated on the United States. The focus of this new "alignment" is a virulent new form of patriotic Dominionism, and it is being championed by the charismatic leaders. C. Peter Wagner’s July 11, 2008 Global Harvest Ministries newsletter was titled “Alignment! Looking toward the Future. ” In it he announced that “our desire is that Chuck Pierce, our son in ministry, become the heir to GHM" (Global Harvest Ministries).

(151) CBN (Christian Broadcasting Network) Presents Soaking Prayer Seminar - Serious Problems with This Practice by Lighthouse Trails, 7/15/08
When CBN presents their Spiritual Gifts Seminar this coming Tuesday with Marguerite Evans, we pray that participants will have their eyes opened and see that soaking prayer is not biblical prayer but could put them into contact with realms that would endanger their spiritual wellbeing.

(152) God's Dream? A KINGDOM BUILDING DREAM by Herscope, 7/17/08
This Washington, D.C. Mall event described above is connected with the rise of patriotic Dominionism, described in the previous post. The organizers of this event have been working for several decades to create a youth movement that could fulfill their expectations for a “New Breed” and could function as a “Joel’s Army.” To recruit young people for their "bootcamps" and prayer "furnaces", these men have invoked patriotic fervor over the abortion issue especially, and morality generally.

(153) A New Obsession With Angels by Jackie Alnor, Apostasy Alert, 7/20/08
There are spirits in the material world and they’re not all good ones. In fact, there’s a recent obsession with angels in certain church circles, such as the emergent church and the apostolic/prophetic movement.

Landmark Book!

Does having eternity in your heart mean that you know God and are His child? Could Gentile cultures understand the Gospel from the stars? Did God create man’s cultures? Has God always been in the process of redeeming cultures from the time of Babel by placing in them a true revelation of Himself? Is there the worship of YHWH in all cultures and religions through the names of “supreme beings”?  Have all cultures always had a way to make things right between them and God? These questions and many more are answered in this book that addresses the false teachings of The New Apostolic Reformation regarding missiological methods as being carried out by many agencies including the World Christian Gathering on Indigenous People, YWAM, and many Bible societies.

(1) Todd Bentley’s Diabolical Signs by Jackie Alnor, ApostasyAlert, 5/11/08
If you’ve been watching the news on "Christian Television" in the past couple of weeks, you could not have missed the glowing reports of a "revival" breaking out in Lakeland, Florida. It is headed up by a certified false prophet/teacher by the name of Todd Bentley, one of the guys from the infamous Elijah List, an umbrella group that markets all the bogus "prophetic" junk their many seers sell. Many of these forerunners for the antichrist are heralding this outbreak as the much-touted outpouring of the latter rain. {If you think I'm speaking harshly, keep reading to understand why I can't mince words.}

(5) Todd Bentley - The New Simon Magus by Pastor Bill Randles, Believers in Grace Ministries, 5/26/08
It seems to be happening again, The false prophets are once again ‘making God’s people trust in a lie’, the people are not blameless, for once again as in Jeremiah’s day;”  The prophets prophesy falsely, the priests bear rule by their means, and my people love to have it so, people love to have it so, but what will you do in the end?” (Jer. 5:31)

(9) Lakeland’s Recycled Revival by Gary Osborne, 6/08
There is no doubt in my mind that the “Lakeland Outpouring”, as it is now being called, is nothing more than a recycling of previous movements that stretch back decades.  Whether it was meetings held by people like William Branham, Kathryn Kuhlman, Benny Hinn, Rodney Howard-Browne, Steve Hill, or any of the so-called Kansas City Prophets, the spirit and basic doctrine are the same.  There’s a common thread of specific heresies that go back a long way.  That’s why I call it recycled revival.  It’s nothing new at its core.  In addition, this revival and ones similar to it promote ideas that are contrary to what the Bible tells us about the end times.

(10) Roaring Revival / Distress of nations with perplexity by Tony Pearce, 6/08
The laying on of hands is used in Acts in order to commission ministry and to give spiritual gifts and in working miracles. Nevertheless the kind of manic laying on of hands on everyone who comes up at a meeting pushing them over as a sign of the power of the Holy Spirit is not to be found in Acts or the Epistles. In fact Paul counsels Timothy ‘Do not lay hands on anyone hastily.’ 1 Timothy 5.22. The fruit of Paul laying hands on Timothy was the very opposite of the frenzy and manic behaviour we are witnessing today in Lakeland: ‘Therefore I remind you to stir up in you gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.’ 2 Timothy 1.6-7. Far from some magical power been transferred by the touch of one anointed person to another, the message of the Christian faith was to be spread by teaching its content from one to another: ‘And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also.’ 2 Timothy 2.2. How much we need this today.

(11) The Modern Church's Golden Calf by Randall Sortino, 6/5/08
Today many Christians have grown impatient waiting for the return of our Lord Jesus. They have begun to look for other ways to God. They have embraced emerging church metaphysical techniques, some subscribe to a kingdom now philosophy, they have chased after Oprah's false gospel of self, they pursue yoga and meditation to obtain contact with the spiritual guides, and in Lakeland Florida they pursue Todd Bentleys’ god of violence and error.

(13) Todd Bentley: The Culmination of the False Charismatic Revival by Joseph Chambers, Pawcreek Ministry, 6/08
Can you imagine a prophet of the true Jehovah God who is almost totally covered in tattoos which his “god” told him to get? He has rings in his ears and on his chin. As he prays for people, his main words are, “Bam, Bam, Bam.” The results are ecstatic, bodily motions that range from sexual gyrating to insane stupors. This spirit does not make you wise; it makes you unwise.

(14) Todd Bentley Caught Infecting People With Spiritual Diseases! by Chris Pearson, Cutline, WordPress, 6/08
Todd Bentley carries a vile spiritual disease which can infect you and corrupt you eternally if you so choose to follow after his false gospels, false miracles and false revelations. Todd Bentley is one of the most vile and perverted blasphemous heretics that has ever made himself known publicly in the last 2000 years. We are living in a terrible time, put on the whole armour of God through the sound doctrines of the Bible so that you may stand in this evil day against all that would come to deceive you away from the truth into doctrines of devils and fables.

The second portion of this article will deal with 7 issues that need to be addressed concerning this “Revival” and will include some of the more salient teachings of Todd Bentley.

(17) Defending the Indefensible… Todd Bentley Apologetic by Jacob Prasch, Moriel Ministries, 6/21/08
For these reasons alone, may no one be taken in by this apologetic, regardless of the obvious credentials and experience of professor Grieg. Open Letter to: Brian Olynick, Stephen R. Strader, Gary S. Greig, Todd Bentley and Fresh Fire Ministries Staff, I am responding to your charges that we are “judging the Bride of Christ.”  If you had bothered to read the testimonies you would see that we are not judging the Bride of the Christ, as only Jesus Christ can do that at the Bema Judgment Seat.  But we are commanded to judge the teachings of anyone who claims to be part of the Bride of Christ.  So in one broad stroke you have already borne false witness against us.
