The Church Can Forgive SinsThere is no offense, however serious, that the Church cannot forgive. There is no one, however wicked and guilty, who may not confidently hope for forgiveness, provided his repentance is honest. Christ who died for all men desires that in his Church the gates of forgiveness should always be open to anyone who turns away from sin. (Page 278) It was not the Church that died for me, it was not my denomination, it was not by my good works. It was Christ who died for me, and redeemed me. How can sinful men forgive sinners? There is only one who is able to forgive sins, the Lord Jesus Christ. This sounds to me like a perverting of the Gospel.
