Discernment Link
The Other Side of the Riverby Kevin M. Reeves. There is a major doctrinal movement sweeping through the Church. Billing itself as the "River," it promises an incoming tide of blessing but leaves in its wake tsunami-like devastation. Marked by false prophecies, unbiblical manifestations and cult-like teachings and authority structure, this latest Christian fad has wooed a generation of unwary believers and led them into a substitute spirituality. While the Word of God has been placed on the back burner, personal experience reigns supreme amid a host of unscriptural visions and ecstatic utterances that have paved the way for a radical departure from the apostolic Christianity of the early Church. In this deeply personal account, Kevin Reeves explores the inner workings of this worldwide phenomenon.

DITC e-Newsletter Volume 34, Issue 7 |
Dear All,
If you don't think Dominionism and the false spiritual warfare that comes with it have invaded your state or church, think again. The question is: how can people who call themselves Christians honestly think that they can solve the problems of a sinful nation by making up stuff like "divorcing Baal"? This is a direct result of decades of the teachings of people like C. Peter Wagner and Anna Mendez Ferrel, which they got from John Dawson who, with Joy Dawson and Lorren Cunningham, started YWAM. Did Anna and Doris Wagner kill the "queen of heaven" and "the devil" by stabbing the snow with knives somewhere in the vicinity of Mt. Everest? Someone has to talk to these people to tell them they are crazy and are turning a whole generation of Christians into nut jobs. They would actually accomplish something if they "divorced" all the false prophets and false apostles that are leading them astray. --- Please consider ordering one of our products or making a donation. The Warning
| by Roger Oakland, 7/26/11
There is a pattern we find throughout the Word of God. God always warns before He brings judgment on sinful man. God is merciful and never reacts quickly without giving sinners a chance to repent. While He hates sin, He has often allowed men to carry on even if they do not respond. However there are always consequences of sin. The Bible states that the wages of sin is death. Often sin is exposed publically, and others are reminded to get right with God. Click here to read this article! |
The Response
| Host: Vic Eliason Guest: Brannon Howse VCY America, 7/26/11
Texas governor and presidential hopeful Rick Perry will be part of an upcoming prayer gathering called, The Response (www.theresponseusa.com). On the leaders page Brannon notes that there are leaders from the International House of Prayer, an organization that has its roots in the heretical Latter Rain movement as well as the Kansas City Prophets. Brannon also looks at movements with a similar theology such as the New Apostolic Reformation and the Word-Faith movement. These groups and individuals are gaining converts partly because they've successfully tied themselves to and tapped into the frustration of pro-family, pro-liberty Christians who are hoping to bring positive change to America. Brannon features a number of audio clips that highlight the heresies prevalent within such groups. For example, evangelist Creflo Dollar is heard speaking to a crowd and telling them why he thinks the Bible teaches that we are "gods", a teaching found within Mormonism as well as the New Age movement.

Divorcing Baal
| by Dr. Orrel Steinkamp, 7/27/11
Four years ago this Wednesday, at the Call Nashville on 07-07-07, the Spirit-breathed focus on divorcing Baal and resetting covenant with Christ was introduced across the body of Christ. Dutch Sheets shared how the number seven biblically symbolizes covenant. And that the Lord wanted us to divorce Baal and return to covenant with Jesus Christ. The Call became a catalyst for all that was to come as we all declared our intentions for divorce. Progressive revelation from the Lord showed that, though we stated our case before God's court, we also needed to actually receive His verdict for the divorce to be legally binding. Eighteen months ago, almost to the day, leaders from all 50 states gathered at the Lincoln Memorial to begin the process of divorcing Baal in Washington DC and at lodges across the nation. Led by Apostle John Benefiel, we stood on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial and together received God's verdict of justice. Through the body and blood of Jesus Christ, the verdict of divorce was granted!
