A Whole Lot Of Wishful Thinking These Days!
by Sandy Simpson
This 2-DVD series is a teaching based on this article.
In this DVD series I want to detail a number of beliefs people have these days that have no basis in Scripture. I am going to roam all over the map, so to speak, and try to give fairly short answers on a number of topics and also give you useful links to articles that will help you deal with any particular issue. It is truly amazing how many false ideas people cling to without giving a thought to what the Bible has to say on the subject.

Featured Discernment Ministry
There is a "River" that is flowing into congregations all over the world. Deceptively beautiful, it gently carries you along after you've stepped into its teasing current for the first time, until the powerful undertow eventually pulls you midstream. Once there, while you plunge headlong into raging whitewater, the other shoreline is suddenly evident. Strewn with the wreckage of human lives and littered with the debris of false doctrine, this "River's" farther shore is at last visible, and it is frightening. They never told you about this part. They wouldn't. This website was born out of the need for the body of Christ to know about the dangers of the "River" movement. It goes by a lot of different names - the River Revival, Latter Rain, The Third Wave - and it is marked by bizarre manifestations, false prophecies and esoteric revelations. Warnings of divine retribution hold many adherents in a bondage of fear, making them afraid to speak out or even question those things they are taught and are witness to. But for the seeking heart, there is a way out, back into the freedom and simplicity of Christ Jesus, and to experience again the joy of following Him rather than the latest Christian fad. It is my hope to provide in this web site the Biblical knowledge and tools to help the seeker to honestly examine the teachings, practices, and beliefs of the "River," swim to shore, and get shed of its murky waters. Many have already done just that. I did.

Dear Friends,
What is being passed off a "normal Christianity" these days is far from it. Simply put, much of what is tauted as "Christian" today is actually a melding of paganism from secular culture with many churches. --- Please follow the guidelines on the donation link if you wish to help support this ministry. As always, you can see the DITC e-Newsletter archive here and sign up to receive this newsletter or unsubscribe there as well.

Postmodern Infiltration: The Neoevangelical Heretical Idea
| by Herescope, 12/28/12
Separation is not a passive activity. In these perilous times, believers are called upon more than ever to be on guard against the seductions of heretical teachings and their teachers. It is a defensive posture that requires standing firm on the Word, and continually filtering every teaching through the lens of the whole counsel of Scripture. To avoid heresy requires active resistance on the part of the believer. Sometimes a believer must physically flee from temptation and its circumstances.

Normal Christianity
|
by Jonathan Welton Reviewed by Spirit Of Error
Recently, a pastor I know received a provocative Christmas gift from a man in his church. It is a book titled Normal Christianity, written by prophet Jonathan Welton-a leader in the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) movement. The message of Welton's book is that the "normal" Christian lifestyle should be characterized by the performance of miracles: walking on water, calming storms, and even raising the dead. Yet-contrary to the book's title-Welton's version of Christianity is anything but normal. Beyond promoting the supernatural phenomena we see in Scripture, he also argues that every Christian should develop magical powers that historically have been practiced by psychics, witches, and occultists. The end result is that "normal" Christianity turns out to be an unholy marriage between Christianity and the occult.

The Post-Truth Transformation of a Wordless "Faith"
| by Tamara Hartzell, 12/24/12
In today's shifting Christianity, people think it is simply a matter of "moving the fence" in order to be more inclusive. They don't understand that we can't broaden the truth of Who the Lord Jesus Christ is any more than we can broaden the truth of Who God is. The Word of God tells us the truth of Who the Lord Jesus Christ is, and, again, the truth and faith that are in the Word of God give us the Christian faith, not the faith of another religion. In other words, the truth of Who the Lord Jesus Christ is gives us the Christian faith. This is the faith that is given to us by God in His Word. The Lord Jesus Christ does not "move the fence;" that is, He does not change the truth of Who He is to be more inclusive. The truth is what it is whether people believe it or not.
