"Silence the noise of your songs"

Amos 5:21-27 "I hate, I reject your festivals, nor do I delight in your solemn assemblies. "Even though you offer up to Me burnt offerings and your grain offerings, I will not accept them; and I will not even look at the peace offerings of your fatlings. "Take away from Me the noise of your songs; I will not even listen to the sound of your harps. "But let justice roll down like waters and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream. Did you present Me with sacrifices and grain offerings in the wilderness for forty years, O house of Israel? You also carried along Sikkuth your king and Kiyyun, your images, the star of your gods which you made for yourselves. Therefore, I will make you go into exile beyond Damascus," says the Lord, whose name is the God of hosts. When I first reread this passage in Amos, a few things struck me. First of all the Lord is bringing judgment on Israel for carrying on religious ceremony without true dedication to the Lord. They sing songs and present their offerings while harboring idols. I was reminded of how the Lord must view the heretical apostate mega church celebrations of today. There is a lot of pomp and circumstance, yet little or no obedience to the Word of God. The Lord does not look favorably upon worship of that type, no matter the hype, no matter the noise, no matter the show. He actually "hates" it.

Dear Friends,
I want to thank many of you have been praying with me during my recent surgery. It took a little longer to be released from the hospital to come back home than I originally anticipated. Getting to go home was a very welcome occasion. Since then I have been setting things up at home for what will surely be a long rehabilitation. When they do a triple bypass they flatten out your lungs so it takes a long time to get them reinflated back to where they were. I am working on that as well a physical therapy. Please pray that my system will purge the remainder of fluid buildup soon. My legs remain very swollen as of this writing. I came back home to a whole lot of mail and orders to take care of, we site maintenance, and newsletters. Trying to take it slow but that stuff never seems to let up.

It is worth reading this article (written earlier this summer) because it is a glimpse of the face of today's emergent church and just how influential it really is. Roger Oakland laid it out in Faith Undone (2007) and Warren Smith defined it in A "Wonderful" Deception (2009). Both men were trying to warn the church of what was coming and how it would come, but few pastors and leaders listened. Now, as the church slept, the enemy has crept in - big time.

Listening to prophets instead of the prophecy in the Bible will mislead you. Listening to teachers distortions of the Bible will also mislead you. I can guarantee this is what will take place for many according to God's word. This is exactly what Jesus warned of taking place in the last days, this is why he said a number of times "see to it no one deceives," to his disciples which echoes down the corridors of time to us today. Is the majority of the church, a whole new generation about to be deceived? We have the new revivalism taking place all over again. This is a warning to all who will hear. It was Benny Hinn who started this whole flawed concept of impartation of anointing and revival to an already open Church seeking an experience. He introduce Rodney Browne who infected so many. From Toronto to Brownsville to Lakeland with Todd Bentley to what is taking place today at the send and the new revival fire of Brownsville The adoration of man has prevented the church from resisting the many false teachers inside. There is nothing wrong with admiration or respect of a person's work that is accordance with the word but when these men and their words become more important than the words of Jesus - watch out.

The Fading Light Of Pop-Christianity

Many Christians were shocked in August when longtime Hillsong songwriter, Marty Sampson announced that he was "losing his faith". In a Twitter post (that has since been removed), Marty claims that he is "not in anymore" and wants "genuine truth. Not the "I Just Believe It" kind of truth". His list of reasons that Christianity is "not for me", according to Sampson, read like a laundry list of teenage rebellions to Christianity during youth group:
- Christians are judgmental
- Science disproves Christianity
- Preachers fail morally
- The Bible has contradictions
Many Christians will read this news and wonder how God's power fits in to a Christian leader walking away from the Faith. Christians may wonder how someone so influential to modern Christianity can reject the faith he led others through.
