Doctrinal Statement
of Deception In The Church

2 Tim. 4: 2-5 (NIV)    Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage -- with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.

1Cor. 4:6 (Wey) In writing this much, brethren. . . I have done so for your sakes, in order to teach you by our example what those words mean, which say, "Nothing beyond what is written!" [NIV - "Do not go beyond what is written"] so that you may cease to take sides in boastful rivalry, for one teacher against another.

THE TRINITY

Prov. 30:4 (NIV) Who has gone up to heaven and come down? Who has gathered up the wind in the hollow of his hands? Who has wrapped up the waters in his cloak? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is HIS NAME, and THE NAME OF HIS SON? Tell me if you know!

Matt. 2819 (NIV) . . in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

2 Cor. 13:14 (NAS) [May] the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all.

Luke 3:21-22  (NIV) When all the people were being baptised, Jesus was baptised too. And as he was praying, heaven was opened  and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: "You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased."

Ga 4:6 (NIV)  Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, "Abba, Father."

Joh 17:1 (NIV)  After Jesus said this, he looked towards heaven and prayed: "Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you.

Joh 14:16 (NIV)  And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you for ever--

CREATION

Gen. 1:1 (NIV) In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Ps. 33:6 (YLT) By the word of Jehovah the heavens have been made, And by the breath of His mouth all their host.

John 1:1-3 (NAS) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being by Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.

CHRIST JESUS

Col. 1:15-19 (NIV) He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him.

Php. 2:6-11 (NIV) Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death--even death on a cross!  Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Col. 2:9 (NKJ) For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.

INSPIRATION AND AUTHORITY OF SCRIPTURE

2 Peter 1:19-21 (Wey) And in the written word of prophecy we have something more permanent; to which you do well to pay attention - as to a lamp shining in a dimly-lighted place - until day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. But, above all, remember that no prophecy in Scripture will be found to have come from the prophet's own prompting; for never did any prophecy come by human will, but men sent by God spoke as they were impelled by the Holy Spirit.

2 Tim. 3:16-17 (Wey) Every Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for convincing, for correction of error, and for instruction in right doing; so that the man of God may himself be complete and may be perfectly equipped for every good work.

1Co 4:6 (NIV)  Now, brothers, I have applied these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, so that you may learn from us the meaning of the saying, "Do not go beyond what is written." Then you will not take pride in one man over against another.

Rev. 22:18-19 (MKJV)  For I testify together to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this Book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add on him the plagues that have been written in this Book.  And if anyone takes away from the words of the Book of this prophecy, God will take away his part out of the Book of Life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which have been written in this Book.

SIN

Rom. 5:12 (YLT) Because of this, even as through one man the sin did enter into the world, and through the sin the death; and thus to all men the death did pass through, for that all did sin.

Gal. 3:22 (NIV) But the Scripture declares that the whole world is a prisoner of sin, so that what was promised, being given through faith in Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe.

Rom. 3:9,23 (NKJ) . . We have previously charged both Jews and Greeks that they are all under sin. . . for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

Rom. 6:23 (NIV) For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

HELL

Matt. 25:41 (NAS) "Then He will also say to those on His left, 'Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels.'"

Rev. 20:14 (Wey) Then Death and Hades were thrown into the Lake of fire; this is the Second Death - the Lake of fire.

Luke 12:5 (NKJ) "But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear Him who, after He has killed, has power to cast into hell; yes, I say to you, fear Him!"

REPENTANCE

Matt. 4:17 (NIV) From that time on Jesus began to preach, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near."

John 6:29 (NIV) Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent."

Isaiah 55:6-7 (NIV) Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on him, and to our God, for he will freely pardon.

Rom. 2:4 (Phi) Are you, perhaps, misinterpreting God's generosity and patient mercy towards you as weakness on his part? Don't you realize that God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?

Acts 17:30 (NIV) In the past God overlooked such ignorance, But now he commands all people everywhere to repent.

THE CROSS

1 Cor. 1:18,21-23 (NIV) For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. . . For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles.

Luke 9:23-24 (NIV) Then he said to them all: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it."

Gal. 6:14 (Phi) Yet God forbid that I should boast about anything or anybody except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, which means that the world is dead to me and I am a dead man to the world.

Rom. 5:8 (NIV) But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

SALVATION, BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH

Rom. 10:9 (NIV) That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Titus 2:11 (NAS) For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men.

1 Peter 1: 9-10 (NIV) For you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls. Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come to you, searched intently and with the greatest care.

Eph. 2:8-9 (NAS) For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast.

Rom. 5:15 (NIV) But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God's grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many!

THE GOSPEL

Rom. 1:16-17 (NIV) For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith."

1 Cor. 15:1-4 (NAS) Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.

Col. 1:5-6 (Phi) . . that hope that first became yours when you heard the message of truth. This is the Gospel itself, which has reached you as it spreads out all over the world. Wherever that gospel goes, it produces Christian character, and develops it, as it has done in your own case from the time you first heard and realized the truth of God's grace.

ONE WAY

John 14:6 (Phi) Jesus answered "I myself am the way, and the truth and the life. No one approaches the Father except through me."

Acts 4:12 (NIV) "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."

1 Tim. 2:5-6 (Phi) For there is only one God, and only one intermediary between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus. He gave himself as a ransom for all men - an act of redemption which stands at all times as a witness to what he is ...

GRACE GIFTS

Rom. 12:6 (NEB) The gifts [charisma] we posses differ as they are allotted to us by God's grace [charis], and must be exercised accordingly.

1 Cor. 12:4 (KJV) Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.

1 Peter 4:10 (TEB) Each one, as a good manager of God's different gifts, must use for the good of others the special gift he has received from God.

1 Cor. 14:12 (NIV) So it is with you. Since you are eager to have spiritual gifts, try to excel in gifts that build up the church.

1 Cor. 1:4-9 (NIV) I always thank God for you because of his grace [charis] given you in Christ Jesus. For in him you have been enriched in every way. . . Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift [charisma] as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed. He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful.

1 Tim. 4:14 (NIV) Do not neglect your gift . . .

SATAN

John 8:44 (NIV) "The devil, . . not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies."

1 Peter 5:8 (NIV) Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

Mark 13:22-24 (NIV) "For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform signs and miracles to deceive the elect - if that were possible. So be on your guard; I have told you everything ahead of time."

1 Tim 4:1-7 (Phi) God's Spirit specifically tells us that in latter days there will be men who abandon the true faith and allow themselves to be spiritually seduced by teachings of demons, teachings given by men who are lying hypocrites, whose consciences are as dead as seared flesh. . . You will be a faithful minister of Christ Jesus if you remind your church members of these things. You will show yourself as a man nourished by the message of the true faith and the sound teaching he has followed. . .

2 Cor 11:13-15 (Phi) "God's messengers?" They are counterfeits of the real thing, dishonest practitioners masquerading as the messengers of Christ. Nor do their tactics surprise me when I consider how Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is only to be expected that his agents shall have the appearance of ministers of righteousness - but they will get what they deserve in the end.

Ephesians 6:11 (NIV) Put on the full armour of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.

THE END OF THE AGE

2 Peter 2:1-3 (NIV) But there were false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, . . Many will follow their shameful ways and bring the way of truth into disrepute. In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up.

2 Thes 2:10-12 (NIV) . . They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.

1 Tim 6:3-5 (Phi) This is the sort of thing you should teach and preach, and if anyone tries to teach some doctrinal novelty and does not follow sound teaching (which we base on our Lord Jesus Christ's own words and which leads to Christ-like living), then he is a conceited idiot! His mind is a morbid jungle of disputation and argument, things which lead to nothing but jealousy, quarreling, insults, and malicious innuendoes - continual wrangling, in fact, among men of warped minds who have lost their real hold on the truth but hope to make some profit out of the Christian religion.

THE FUNDAMENTALS

John 8:31-32 (NEB) . . "If you dwell within the revelation I have brought, you are indeed my disciples; you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free."

Heb 2:1-3 (Phi) We ought, therefore, to pay the greatest attention to the truth that we have heard and not allow ourselves to drift away from it. For if the message given through angels proved authentic, so that defiance of it and disobedience to it received appropriate retribution, how shall we escape if we refuse to pay proper attention to that greater salvation which is offered us? For this salvation came first through the words of the Lord himself.

2 Tim 1:13-14 (NIV) What you heard from me, keep as the pattern of sound teaching, with faith and love in Christ Jesus. Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you - guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us.

ORTHODOXY

Mark 8:38 (NIV) "If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his Father's glory with the holy angels."

Jude 1:3-4 (NIV) Dear friends. . . I felt I had to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints. For certain men whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are godless men, who change the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord.

2 Cor 10:3-6 (NIV) For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapon's of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

2 Thes 2:15 (NIV) So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the teachings we have passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter.

Tit 1:9 (NIV)  He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.

THE CHURCH

Mat 18:20 (Phi) "For wherever two or three people have come together in my name, I am there, right among them!"

Heb 10:25 (NIV) Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another - and all the more as you see the day approaching.

Rom 12:9-16 (Phi) Let us have no imitation Christian love. Let us have a genuine hatred for evil and a real devotion to good. Let us have real warm affection for one another as between brothers, and a willingness to let the other man have the credit. Let us not allow slackness to spoil our work and let us keep the fires of the Spirit burning, as we do our work for the Lord. . . Give freely to fellow-Christians in want, never grudging a meal or a bed to those who need them. . . Share the happiness of those who are happy, and the sorrow of those who are sad. Live in harmony with each other, Don't become snobbish but take a real interest in ordinary people. Don't become set in your own opinions.

Gal 6:10 (NIV) Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

EVANGELISM

Rom 10:17 (NKJ) So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Rom 10:14 (NIV) How, then, can they call on one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?

Col 1:25-26 (Phi) . . that I might fully declare God's Word - that sacred mystery which up till now has been hidden in every age and every generation, but which is now as clear as daylight to those who love God.

2 Cor 5:20 (NKJ) Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God.

Mark 16:15 (NIV) He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.

Sandy Simpson, being a full-time missionary with Liebenzell Mission USA, has also signed the LMA Statement Of Faith.  Though Sandy is a commissioned missionary with LMA, the mission does not necessarily endorse every article or viewpoint on this web site, nor is it their mandate to do so.  Sandy Simpson has placed himself in accountability to a number of individuals who are missionaries, pastors and others in the apologetic aspect of this ministry. The LMA statement is as follows:

Statement of Faith of Liebenzell Mission USA

We believe...

1....that the whole Bible is inspired by the Holy Spirit and is the divine authority and infallible rule for faith, life and doctrine.

2....in one God, eternally existing in three Divine Persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, equal in nature, power and glory.

3....in the Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, His miracles, in His shed blood as the only atonement for sin, in His bodily resurrection and ascension to the right hand of the Father and His personal return in power and glory.

4....in the Holy Spirit who convicts of sin, testifies of Christ, enables the believer to live a victorious life, and guides into all truth.

5....that man was created in the image of God, but fell into sin and is in need of regeneration through faith in Jesus Christ.

6....in the bodily resurrection. The believer shall arise to the resurrection of life and the unbeliever to the resurrection of judgment.

7....in the Spiritual unity of all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

8....in the commission of the Risen Christ, "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Matthew 28:19-20

For those of you who just can't stand a doctrinal statement based solely on Scripture (believe it or not I have had letters to that effect) I also endorse and believe the doctrinal statement of Biblical Studies Foundation.  In fact this statement embodies the Five Core Doctrines upon which our apologetics are based on this site.  Their doctrinal statement can be found at:

http://www.bible.org/docs/about/doctstmt.htm

and below:

The Bible

We believe the Bible to be the inspired Word of God, without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men, and the divine and final authority for all Christian faith and life. When we say inspired and without error, we mean we believe this to be verbal, plenary, infallible, and inerrant throughout.

God the Father

We believe in one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

God the Son

We believe that Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He died on the cross as the sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. Further, He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, where, at the right hand of the Majesty on High, He now sits as our High Priest and Advocate.

God the Holy Spirit

We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ and during this age to convict men, regenerate the believing sinner, and indwell, guide, instruct, and empower the believer for godly living and service.

Mankind

We believe that man was created in the image of God but fell into sin and is therefore lost. Only through personal faith in Jesus Christ and regeneration by the Holy Spirit can salvation and spiritual life be obtained.

Substitionary Death of Christ

We believe that the substitutionary death of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground for justification and salvation for all who believe, and only such as receive Jesus Christ through faith are born of the Holy Spirit, and thus become children of God.

The Church and Its Ordinances

We believe that water baptism and the Lord's Supper are ordinances to be observed by the church during the present age. They are, however, not to be regarded as a means of salvation.

We believe that the true Church is composed of all such persons who through personal faith in Jesus Christ have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and are united together in the body of Christ of which He is Head.

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Lord and Head of the Church, and that every local church has the right under Christ to decide and govern its own affairs.

Eschatology

We believe in the personal and premillennial and imminent coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and that this "Blessed Hope" has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of the believer who will be judged and receive rewards or loss of rewards at the Judgment (Bema) Seat of Christ.

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead; of the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord, of the unbeliever to judgment and everlasting conscious punishment.

"… if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them." Isaiah 8:20
