Benny Hinn is shown appealing for money, which he promised to a partially blind boy for his education. The father said no money was received, notwithstanding an emotional plea to millions on TV. Hinn claimed the boy was healed. The father and the boy denied it. “Suffer the Children” takes a look into the lives and lifestyles of some of the biggest names in tele-evangelism today. It explores the origins of the Word of Faith movement, also known as the Prosperity Gospel, and finds that its origins are not Christian at all.

Response:  Hardly. Dying on the Cross as the sacrifice for sin was the culmination of Christ’s purpose in being born into this world. The prophets had foretold it, and Christ himself had confirmed it (Mt 16:21; Jn:12:32-33 [32] And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. [33] This he said, signifying what death he should die.). Nothing and no one could have killed Him or otherwise prevented the fulfillment of His mission.

In his sermon, The Scream of the Damned, John Piper opined the following:  "Everything exists to magnify the worth of the scream of the damned. That’s the point of the universe. ... What we will do forever in heaven is magnify the worth of the scream of the damned. ... Calvary will not be forgotten. It is the most-horrible, most sinful, most agonizing event that ever was - it will be the center of heaven forever. ... Hell exists, the cross exists, sin exists, heaven exists, you exist, universe exists, in order to magnify the worth of the scream of the damned. ... What is the apex of the revelation of the grace of God? And the answer is the scream of the damned on the cross." Of course, the doctrine and the theology expressed in the two quotes above are not God's doctrine or theology. Jesus was not damned to Hell while on the cross, and He did not scream anything like what the truly damned will scream when they are subjected to their proper fate.

Long, Clarence McClendon, Joyce Meyer, Myles Munroe, Steve Munsey, Mike Murdock, Rod Parsley, Peter Popoff, Fred Price, Oral Roberts, R.W. Shambach, Robert Schuller, Karl Strader, Robert Tilton, Paula White, Ed Young and many others.

There are many false teachers on TV these days who peddle the word of God for profit.  They make promises of healing that do not come true by claiming if they are given a financial gift the person will receive healing and riches.  When what they promised does not happen the person is blamed that they did not have enough faith. This often destroys the faith of people who fall into the traps of these snake oil salesmen.  I have no problem with people charging for their materials if they cost to be produced, even though it is hoped that when a person cannot afford to pay for books and DVDs they will receive them free of charge.  But the charges levied on people for conferences and speaking engagements is often excessive.  A minister of God can ask for support and deserves it if they are being diligent in their study and proclamation of the Word.  But experiences and feelings often come with a price today and that is not right.

Conversely, and not taught by Bevere, Christians are also to mark, avoid and reject the divisive ones, heretics (Rom. 16:17, Tit. 3:10). Apparently Bevere wants to major on discernment among those who call themselves believers to the exclusion of rejecting heresy from the wolves in sheep's clothing. But what Bevere teaches that is false teaching is that it is wrong for Christians to be "critical". The Greek word from which we get the English word "critical" is kritikos. Strongs says it means discerner, relating to judging, fit for judging, skilled in judging. The Bible clearly teaches that Christians are to learn to discern.

Beginning on Feb. 28, the Panama City Church Life Center: A Spiritual Community, run by pastor Markus Bishop, opened its doors to the Spring Break crowd by hosting a week-long event, which has been labeled as "Spring Break Amnesia: The Tabernacle." According to a schedule for the tabernacle obtained by the Panama City News Herald, events hosted in the church included a "slumber" party with a dress code of pajamas and lingerie, an "anything but clothes" party, a "Mardi Gras" themed party where the schedule asks "what will you do for your beads?" The week-long event also included the "wet and wild" party, a rave-style event, and was capped off with an all-night-long party on Friday.

"The G650 MAX RAMP WEIGHT is 99,600# then add 4,000# for the G650ER. IT CANNOT CARRY 12 PEOPLE AND 1000,000 # OF FOOD AND SUPPLIES LIKE THE COMMENTER SAYS!!!! CREFLO IS A CROOK AND SCAMMIN (sic) HIS CHURCH IN THE NAME OF THE LORD!!!" wrote an incensed Graham.

Oneness Pentecostal heretic and Word Faith mogul “Bishop” T.D. Jakes, fresh off his stint preaching for Southern Baptist pastor Ed Young, Jr again, appeared along with Ed Young, Jr and Andy Stanley, for a second time at the Hillsong Conference 2010 in July at that heretical Word Faith church.
Jakes was also a featured speaker for Bill Hybels and Willow Creek Church this past summer as well. Despite his denial of the Trinity, i.e. the very nature of God, there right alongside Hybels, Andy Stanley, and some others, T. D. Jakes spoke at The Global Leadership Summit 2010 last August 5-6.

Long who once wore a Jewish star necklace around his neck instead of a cross and had a handkerchief sticking out from his suit pocket in the shape of a crown (TBN Sept. 7, 2003) is adorned with expensive tailored suits, a Rolex watch, gold necklaces, and diamond bracelets he steps up to the pulpit to show them how it works. “The Atlanta Journal-Constitution published tax records showing that from 1997 to 2000 Bishop Long had accepted $3 million in salary, housing, a car and other perks from a charity he controlled” (Sex Scandal Threatens a Georgia Pastor’s Empire By James C. McKinley and Robbie Brown: Sept. 25, 2010). In Nov. 2007 Long was named as one of six well - known tel­evangelist ministries to be investigated for possible financial misconduct by Sen. Charles Grassley. Recently Long made the news because four former members of his youth group, his own church members are bringing suit against him accusing Long of sexual relationships that I will not mention (this can be read by news services).

We’ve also seen Furtick develop a close working relationship with Word Faith mogul Joel Osteen as well, e.g. Steven Furtick As Televangelist At Lakewood Church Of Joel Osteen. Now Furtick would appear to be doing the same with Word Faith queen Joyce Meyer.

And as such, they do not represent the Christian Church and are definitely not worthy of the support of true Christians.

Parents have been told they may NOT opt out their children. Joel Osteen's betrayal of the Word of God when asked about gay marriage was made all the more egregious when you consider how desperately that state needs to hear the truth. Instead the papers reported that Osteen, as a pastor, likes to "stay positive". Meanwhile, the children of the state are indoctrinated in the varieties of gay sex in their public school classrooms. Hats off to the Americans there who are fighting for decency and protection of children. I want to direct you to the website of Article 8 Alliance, a group of American parents who have had enough of Sodom's foot soldiers marching over their children and who don't need simpering evangelical celebrities making their job harder. Take five minutes on this website to get a feel for the scale of the battles in that state. It's really this bad.

The signature quote from this snippet is, "What I try to do is just preach practical principles and I may not bring the scripture in til the end of my sermon and I don't feel bad about that." Well I guess if you think Christian Pastor's should be teaching from the scriptures, don't bother Pastor Osteen. He feels no guilt for preaching something else. At least he's honest about it.

Many times we intuitively know that a sermon that we've heard was 'off'. But, we don't know how to quantify that feeling There is a little known Christian radio host who broadcasts on a small station in St. Louis that regularly reviews sermons. The host's name is the Rev. Todd Wilken and he critiques sermons using a set of diagnostic questions that determines whether or not a sermon is Christ-Centered and Cross-Focused. I find his sermon reviews to be extremely insightful. Here is a link to a sermon review that he did on Joel Osteen's sermon entitled "How to Improve Your Self Image With Words'. I think you will find this to be VERY interesting.

Most have not listened carefully or long enough to hear Osteen's heresy by Osteen. But give him time and those word faith statements will become apparent. In my opinion, if you have listened often enough you have heard nearly all the subject matter he conveys. He says the same type of message in different ways, or maybe it's his voice and delivery that makes it all sound the same. At best, one gets milk from him; at worst they get positive thinking and word faith heresies. A pastor is called to feed the flock the whole counsel of God- from Genesis to Revelation. Unfortunately, people will interpret his soft-spoken manner as exhibiting a Christ-like spirit and ignore the non-Biblical content expressed, which has been traded in for a motivational spiritual pep talk. Again his fantasy of Jesus going to hell and being under the power of Satan is no small teaching to ignore. It deals with the gospel itself, the nature of Jesus, which does not qualify him as a good teacher or minister by any Biblical standard. It is another gospel.

He quite questionably cites a small segment of Thayer's Lexicon out of context in an effort to say that repentance is only a change of mind to believe the good news about grace (in effect saying repentance is another word for faith). Repentance involves turning from sin (Mt 3:8, 2 Co 7:9 etc.) Most online versions of Thayer's are abridged. Compare Prince's assertion to the full text of any Thayer’s lexicon which unequivocally says repentance includes godly sorrow for sin and turning away from sinful deeds.

Note: Though technically Robert Schuller is not of the Word-Faith camp out of RHEMA of E.W. Kenyon and Kenneth Hagin, his roots from New Thought and Norman Vincent Peale are much the same. Schuller's gospel has been termed "Possibility Thinking" while Word-Faith is termed "Prosperity Gospel".  Both ideas have much in common.

Many look to him as an expert on Christian doctrine and living, but are the teachings of Dr. Schuller in line with what the Bible teaches? I could continue on documenting Schuller’s reworking of biblical terms and theology statements, but the reader gets the point.  By using the cherished words so precious to those who love biblical Christianity, he identifies with evangelicals.  By infusing those words with new meanings, meanings not in line with their Holy Spirit-inspired original intent, he changes the Christian faith to a man-centered belief wrapped around the core of self-esteem.  Through the manipulation of truth Schuller makes Christianity more palpable to the world, but at the same time he guts it of its true meaning. Schuller’s new reformation plays well with the unbeliever and the undiscerning Christian, but it does not line up with biblical truth.

From that "Dr." White (she uses that title, though her doctorate is honorary from some unknown, and no doubt unaccredited, institution) concluded that if Christians would only learn the wisdom of this world, they too would prosper in every endeavor as well.

In a newsletter emailed to supporters this week, Florida pastor Paula White claims that God has shown her that "this is a season of victory for His people." The Christian minister also reveals a strong feeling "that a seed of $229 in accordance with 1 Chronicles 22:9 is a breakthrough seed for the month of July," and declares to recipients of her newsletter, "Do not hesitate to follow a prophetic instruction!"

Paula White just got married to Chicago-born rocker Jonathan Cain. He is perhaps best known for his days with the band Journey and Bad English. White, a controversial pastor was divorced from her last husband, Randy White, in 2007. White married her first husband, Dean Knight, when she was a teenager. Together, they had a son named Bradley. She divorced Knight after she got saved. White stirred controversy in 2011 after she was appointed senior pastor of the late Zachery Tims' megachurch, New Destiny Christian Center (NDCC) near Orlando. At the time, White was also senior pastor of Without Walls International Church. She later handed the reigns back to her ex-husband, Randy.

In my article “Blasphemizing the Bible” (http://www.deceptioninthechurch.com/blasphemizingthebible.html) I give a number of examples of how a lot of modern Bible translation societies are putting the names of “supreme beings” in the Bible in the place of God or YHWH. In this article I'm going to examine two of the excuses they make for making those substitutions in the Bible in many hundreds of different languages today. 

(1) They claim that God has many different names and therefore they think they are justified in putting the names of various gods of various cultures in Bibles, as long as they are considered “supreme beings”. 

(2) The second excuse they give is that the names of the “gods” they are placing in the Bible are generic terms for God, like the words “God”, “Theos”, “Dios” and “Elohim”. By generic I mean a word that can be used for any deity whether of the one true God or other false gods who claim to be God. 

I will go through both of these excuses and show that they are both unbiblical, therefore the Bibles they have translated with names of other gods in them, or names they claim are generic, prove that they have “blasphemized” those Bibles.
