Great Discernment Tools!

Karma (by any other name)
by Sandy Simpson

This DVD is a message based on this article.

According to Wikipedia:

"Karma means action, work or deed; it also refers to the principle of causality where intent and actions of an individual influence the future of that individual.  Good intent and good deed contribute to good karma and future happiness, while bad intent and bad deed contribute to bad karma and future suffering.  Karma is closely associated with the idea of rebirth in some schools of Asian religions.  In these schools, karma in the present affects one's future in the current life, as well as the nature and quality of future lives - or, one's samsara. With origins in ancient India, it is a key concept in Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism, Taoism, Shintoism, Ching Hai and others."(emphasis mine)

Mirram-Webster defines it this way:

the force created by a person's actions that is believed in Hinduism and Buddhism to determine what that person's next life will be like: the force created by a person's actions that some people believe causes good or bad things to happen to that person

Given the definitions of "karma" above, this same idea, usually without the reincarnation aspect in Christian circles, has been taught for decades in New Thought movements such as the Positive Thinking/Positive Confession teachings of Norman Vincent Peale & Robert Schuller, the Word of Faith ideas of Essex Kenyan, Kenneth Hagin, Kenneth Copeland and Benny Hinn, the mixture of Eastern Mysticism and Christianity by Korean false teachers such as the "force of faith" Paul Yongii Cho, and newer renditions and fusions by people like Joel Osteen, Joseph Prince, T.D. Jakes (recently agreeing with Oprah Winfrey who teaches karma on her WHO network), and others such as Ernest Angley, John Bevere, Markus Bishop, Juanita Bynum, Morris Cerullo, Kim Clement, Paul Crouch, Creflo Dollar, Jesse Duplantis, Marilyn Hickey, Brian Houston, Rodney Howard-Browne, Larry Huch, Bishop Eddie L. Long, Clarence McClendon, Joyce Meyer, Myles Munroe, Steve Munsey, Mike Murdock, Rod Parsley, Peter Popoff, Fred Price, Oral Roberts, R.W. Shambach, Robert Schuller, Karl Strader, Robert Tilton, Paula White, Ed Young and many others.

His Name, The Only Name
by Sandy Simpson

This DVD is a message based on this article.

Zechariah 14:9 NIV The LORD will be king over the whole earth. On that day there will be one LORD, and his name the only name.

The reason I wrote this article based on Zech 14:9 is that I was reminded of how many so-called Christians, who are influential in the churches, are promoting the worship of God in the names of other gods.

Replacement Theology On Steroids
by Sandy Simpson

This DVD is a message based on this article.

So, as you can see, the root of this teaching is that Israel no longer holds the distinction of being the tree from which the Root of David (Jesus-Rev. 5:5, 22:16) came.  They are no longer the "natural branches" (Israel-Rom. 11:21) on to which Gentile Christianity (the wild shoots-Rom. 11:17 or wild branches-Rom. 11:24) are grafted in (Rom. 11:17-24).  According to Replacement Theology, Christianity has now become its own branch apart from Israel (the natural branch) that produced the Root and all the promises of the Bible to Israel have been taken away from them and given to the Gentile Church.  This is why you hear so many false teachers taking verses out of context from the Old Testament and willy-nilly applying them to the Gentile Church.  This methodology has been going on for decades in liberal churches and has been popularized by many false teachers on TV. But the fact is that Replacement Theology is utter false doctrine.  It denies promises made to Israel, some of which have already been fulfilled and some which are yet to come to fruition. But when you add the fact that the Inclusivist WCGIP proponents are now saying that God planted hundreds of different trees, cultures all over the world, that are not connected to the natural branch, tree and Root, you have what can only be termed Replacement Theology on steroids!

Those Who Do Not Lead Christians to Maturity
by Sandy Simpson

This DVD is a message based on this article.

The Scriptural definition of maturity is to learn to discern truth from error so that the Christian will no longer be double minded, blown about by every wind of teaching and by the schemes of crafty people.  But the problem today is that so few Christian teachers are feeding their flock's solid food.  They are serving up milk and, because of that, people are starving. Yet they often don't even know they have been on a starvation diet.  Amos 8:11 "The days are coming," declares the Sovereign Lord, "when I will send a famine through the land -  not a famine of food or a thirst for water, but a famine of hearing the words of the Lord."

"... and all liars"
by Sandy Simpson

This DVD is a message based on this article.

Lying is a problem for all people (Ps. 116:11).  We are all sinners (Rom. 3:23).  Those of us who are Christians are "sinners saved by grace" (Eph. 2:8) indwelt by the Holy Spirit in our "new self" (Col. 3:10). But we still live in our "old self" which we must "put off" (Eph. 4:20-25) by taking up our cross daily and following Christ (Luke 9:23).  The difference between unbelievers and those who are truly born again is that believers no longer "practice sin" (1 John 3:9, see my Bible study on 1 John!)  They have the indwelling Holy Spirit (Rom. 8:11) who convicts them when they lie (John 16:8). True believers then repent (1 John 1:9) and go on to "practice righteousness" (1 John 2:29) with the Lord's help.  The unregenerate, the false brothers, or those who have fallen away (Gal. 5:4, Mark 4:17), practice lying.  They practice a lifestyle of lying because their consciences are seared (1 Tim. 4:2) and the Holy Spirit, when convicting them, cannot break through the hardness of their unrepentant hearts (Eph. 4:17-19, Heb. 3:13).

Four Books That the Enemy Has Used To Corrupt Christianity
by Sandy Simpson

This DVD is a message based on this article.

The four books that have changed the church by giving an introduction to the false teachings of the New Apostolic/Latter Rain (NAR), the Emerging Church/Contemplative/Catholic Mysticism (EC), pragmatic Church Growth (CG) methodologies of C. Peter Wagner, Robert Schuller and Peter Drucker, and the teachings of the World Christian Gathering on Indigenous People (WCGIP) are as follows:

Surprised by the Power of the Spirit by Jack Deer, Celebration of Discipline by Richard Foster, Purpose Driven Church by Rick Warren & Etnerity In Their Hearts by Don Richardson.

These four books were widely read by Christians from virtually every denominational background before their ramifications and the movements they would spawn were known.  They lay error alongside truth so were considered not to be a threat to churches.  Therefore these books then became part of the consciousness of many Christians and churches, thereby laying the basis for the introduction of the modern day false teachings of the NAR, EC, CG and WCGIP that have become part of the landscape of Christendom today.

Night Marchers and UFOs on the Big Island
by Sandy Simpson

This DVD is a message based on this article.

With the resurgence of the old religion of Hawaii and the continual invocation of Pelé and other "deities" for years in the secular culture and even in churches with regards to worshipping 'Io, is it any wonder that those beings are beginning to manifest again?  In a story called "Night Marchers" on the Kawaihae site and in a YouTube video on the same subject, eyewitnesses claim all kinds of sightings that they think are the warriors, ancestors and demi-gods of Hawaii coming back.  Interestingly the first book the Hawaiian Heritage site recommends in its "Suggested Reading" list is "Perpetuated in Righteousness" by Daniel Kikawa that we reviewed in our book "Idolatry In Their Hearts" by Sandy Simpson and Mike Oppenheimer. Since Kikawa claims that 'Io is the True God and one that the Hawaiians worshipped in secret, we have to wonder if Kikawa also thinks 'Io is showing up in these night marches? Since YWAM, Aloha Ke Akua and Hilo New Hope participated in worshipping 'Io at the "edge of Hale-ma'uma'u Crater" it sounds like they have all been inviting the old "gods" to return to Hawaii.

"They Will Believe
The Lie"
by Sandy Simpson

This DVD is a message based on this article.

I am doing a Bible study right now on what I would call "renewing our minds".  It is based on this verse:

Romans 12:2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - his good, pleasing and perfect will.

The only way to renew our minds is to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, confess our sins, and be saved, then to study the written Word and allow the indwelling Holy Spirit to teach us.  Our minds are corrupted by virtue of the sin nature and what we have learned in life because our filters are off. I gave an illustration of straining coconut to make coconut milk.  If you use a 1 inch screen everything will pass through.  Even if you use a quarter inch screen you will get mostly coconut meat in your milk.  You have to use a fine screen in order to separate the milk from the leftover.  Our filters are off and the first thing God begins to do is correct our worldview, because if your worldview is off you will not understand God's reality.  We need to learn to see things from His perspective.  This is why I started this study by going back to an original problem.

2 Thessalonians 2:9-12 The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie, and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.

This has always been an interesting passage to me for a few different reasons.  What is "the lie" that is talked about here in verse 9 and 11?  What are the ways that "wickedness deceives those who are perishing" and how long has this been going on or does this only begin to happen at the coming of the lawless one?  In what way does "the lie" cause those who do not believe the truth to "delight in wickedness"?

The First Nations Movement
Deceiving The Nations!
4-DVD Series

Critical Missiological Issue!

The "Indigenous People's" (IPM) or "First Nations" movement is an unbiblical movement teaching heresies and doctrines of demons. It is being spread worldwide by YWAM, Don Richardson, John Dawson, Richard Twiss, Terry LeBlanc, Daniel Kikawa and many other adherents.  The IPM or World Christian Gathering On Indigenous People is full of the false teachings of the Third Wave, New Apostolic Reformation (NAR), Word-Faith, Dominionism, Latter Rain and many other false theological systems.  But it does have it's own distinctives that are driven by the works of Daniel Kikawa, Richard Twiss, and Don Richardson in particular.  They are teaching Christians to "redeem" their cultures by worshipping their former gods, pretending they are YHWH.

"Christians" Who Try To Poke Holes In Sola Scriptura
by Sandy Simpson

This DVD is a message based on this article: "Christians" Who Try To Poke Holes In Sola Scriptura

There are a number of the leadership of the Emerging Church (EC) who do not believe that the Bible is the highest authority for the Christian faith.  Most do not believe that the Bible is inerrant in the original manuscripts and many do not acknowledge that the Bible is our highest revelation.  Yet this is a core doctrine over which true believers and false brethren must separate. Those who try to poke holes in Sola Scriptura make excuses like (1) we need to reinterpret the Bible through the lens of postmodern culture and religion (2) the Bible never uses the words "Sola Scriptura" therefore it is not a Biblical concept (3) there is new revelation for the church through the Holy Spirit apart from what is written and the precepts of the Bible and (4) the Bible just doesn't address our postmodern situation therefore we cannot rely on it for the truth and answers for our problems today.  I will prove that all the above arguments, and more, from EC leaders and others is exactly what they are teaching.  I will give you quotes from their teachings, videos and books. The postmodern church and its "movements" are abandoning Sola Scriptura in their rush to be like the Roman Catholic Church, which takes its authority from a mix of Scripture and tradition.

"As a result the Church, to whom the transmission and interpretation of Revelation is entrusted, "does not derive her certainty about all revealed truths from the holy Scriptures alone. Both Scripture and Tradition must be accepted and honored with EQUAL sentiments of devotion and reverence." (Roman Catholic Catechism, Given October 11, 1992, the thirtieth anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Ecumenical Council, in the fourteenth year of my Pontificate. Page 31).

The Question Of Dominion
by Sandy Simpson

This DVD is a message based on this article: The Question Of Dominion.

I am writing this article as an apologetic against the Third Wave, Latter Rain, Word of Faith and Reformed Theology teachings that the Church is to rise up and take over the systems of government, businesses and every other aspect of life. "See, the problem is, is that Satan has had too much of his way in our society because he has a government!  And the only way to overthrow a government is with a government.  It won't happen otherwise.  So therefore the government of the church has to get into place in the extended church just like we do have it very well in place, we haven't reached our goal yet ..."  (Transcript of C. Peter Wagner, Arise Prophetic Conference, Gateway Church, San Jose, CA, 10-10-2004) Wagner has substituted the "government of the church" for the coming government of Jesus Christ in the Millennial Kingdom.  Wagner is "Kingdom Now" while the Bible teaches "Kingdom Come". What I wanted to do with this article is put the issue of dominion to rest by studying the definition the Bible gives to dominion and ruling authority.  When we look at the subject we can easily ascertain what is going on today and what God requires of the Church.

Shepherd Or Hireling?
by Sandy Simpson

This DVD is a message based on the article: "Shepherd Or Hireling?"

The Bible lays out the definitions of both an overseer (under shepherd) and a hireling.  John 10:11-13  I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep. The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep. (KJV)  1 Tim. 3:1-3   Here is a trustworthy saying: If anyone sets his heart on being an overseer, he desires a noble task. Now the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of but one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. (NIV)  Titus 1:7-13  Since an overseer is entrusted with God's work, he must be blameless, not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain. Rather he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined. He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it. For there are many rebellious people, mere talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision group. They must be silenced, because they are ruining whole households by teaching things they ought not to teach - and that for the sake of dishonest gain. Even one of their own prophets has said, "Cretans are always liars, evil brutes, lazy gluttons." This testimony is true. Therefore, rebuke them sharply, so that they will be sound in the faith. (NIV) A hireling does not really care about being a watchman, but is more concerned with protecting his reputation, position and income.  A true watchman will guard the flock against wolves from within (Acts 20:30) and without (Acts 20:29) no matter the cost to his reputation, position or income. Following is a little quiz you can take to see if you are a true Biblical under shepherd as a leader in your church, are becoming a hireling, or are one now.

Testing Music In The Church
by Sandy Simpson

This DVD is a message based on these articles: Testing Music In The Church, Testing Music In The Church-Part 2, and Worship Song Ratings.

Too many churches today are allowing music to be used in their services that is not glorifying to the Lord and can actually be a hindrance to the teaching of sound doctrine. Pastors and leaders should be using their leadership role to test what is being played and sung in their churches. Though some are quick to test preaching and teaching from their pulpits, many ignore the music being used in the same services. This is a tragic mistake. Music is a powerful medium. It is something that effects deeply the body, mind and emotions. It is a proven fact that music often stays with a person far longer than what is taught or preached. Songs roam around in our heads, especially if the melody appeals to us. What is often overlooked is the serious impression music makes on people, and the teaching they are getting over and over again as they allow the song to repeat in their minds and on their lips. Music teaches things much more subtly yet sometimes far more effectively. That's why the lyrical content of music in the church, as well as its effect on the spiritual lives of those who perform and listen, should be vigorously examined by the leaders of the church.  This is a 2-DVD set.

Examine Yourselves & Hold On!
by Sandy Simpson

This DVD is a message based on the articles "Examine Yourself To See If You Are In The Faith" and "Hold On!"

2 Cor. 13:5  Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves.
Do you not realise that Christ Jesus is in you - unless, of course, you fail the test?

People who call themselves followers of Christ or "Christians" and claim they are born again must believe certain things.  If they do not then they fail the test of faith.  They can claim they are born again all they want and "once saved, always saved" but if they fail the test of faith there is no eternal security.  Only God knows who will be saved, from beginning to end, because of His foreknowledge and omniscience (Rom. 8:29, 1 Pet. 1:2).  God did not make an arbitrary judgment about who would be saved and who would not.  His Spirit is given to those He foreknew, when convicted of sin by His Holy Spirit, would choose to believe and commit themselves to Jesus Christ.  We are not God and we do not have His omniscience.  Therefore, according to Paul, we must be sure our belief system is in the right place once our eyes have been opened to the Truth.  I am not saying we do not have assurance of salvation, but our assurance comes not only because of His Atonement and promises of salvation but from our continuing in the Faith, which is always the Biblical criteria. Those who would be Bible teachers must teach according to the whole counsel of God's Word.  Let me be clear. There is only one way to salvation.  That is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone.  I will deal with a few of those issues following, but it is important to recognize that being saved is not just a matter of believing that Jesus lived, or that He was a man, or simply giving mental ascent to His existence in whatever form.

"Blasphemizing" The Bible
by Sandy Simpson

This DVD is a message based on this article.

I am going to go over an article I wrote back in 2006 in preparation for the book I wrote with Mike Oppenheimer called 'Idolatry in Their Hearts'.  This book is an apologetic against the false teachings of the World Christian Gathering on Indigenous People movement, the Emerging Church and the New Apostolic Reformation which got their ideas from the book "Eternity in Their Hearts" by Don Richardson.  At the time that book came out no one really saw the dangerous ideas Richardson was promoting.  All they would have had to do was look at the two subtitles of that book to understand the implications.  The first subtitle in the 1981 edition read: The Untold Story of Christianity among Folk Religions of Ancient People.  Those who read this book found some interesting cross-cultural ideas but apparently missed the false premise of the book starting with the subtitle. How could Christianity be "among folk religions" where the Gospel had not been preached (Rom. 10:14-15)? At that time Christians who read the book were apparently satisfied that, though there was some questionable material present, it made for an interesting discussion on how to do cross-cultural ministry. The subtitle it has today, which was first published in 1984, is as follows: Startling Evidence of Belief in the One True God in Hundreds of Cultures Throughout the World.  This should have been a red flag for many Christians but then, who reads subtitles?  But how could the "One True God" be known to Gentiles who did "not know God".

Resources For Pastors
"Good English Bible Translations"
by Sandy Simpson

This DVD is a message based on this article.

I was talking with a pastor after a Wednesday night service and he mentioned that I said I had done an article comparing English Bible translations.  He called me up later and asked me to come back and present the contents of that article I sent out in about 2002 to my mailing list for the Pacific Waves Newsletter which, unfortunately, I can no longer afford to publish and mail.  However an archive of past issues of that newsletter can be found here. In that article I detailed a number of good and bad resources for pastors including Bible translations, concordances, commentaries, Bible dictionaries, etc.  I present an edited version of part of that article on this DVD, particularly dealing with English Translations of the Bible.  Translation is a very detailed endeavor and should only be undertaken by those with a proper education in that subject and a sound doctrinal background.  I read a few books on that subject and it helped me understand the complexities involved.  Hebrew is a rich language so it is hard to distill one Hebrew word down to one English word.  Greek is a very technical language and it is also not easy to translate.  This is why it is imperative to use the good English translations out there for comparison along with a good concordance and Bible dictionary.

Kingdom Now or Kingdom Come?
by Sandy Simpson

This DVD is a message based on this article.

There are two kingdoms being taught in many churches today. Teaching about one of the kingdoms is on the decline while the other is being promoted all over the place.  I am warning Christians that they need to check out who is using the word "kingdom", the books they have been reading and recommend on building "the kingdom", the people they have been hanging out with at conferences, and what they mean by "the kingdom".

From Church To Emerging Church DVD Series
by Sandy Simpson
The issue of the Emerging Church and it's introduction into many churches and mission organizations has reached a critical point.  Many do not undersand what is being leavened into churches by the EC leadership.  Many would be shocked to know their belief systems involve Universalism, New Age, defense of postmodernism, Interfaithism, and many other false doctrines.  In order to reach out to this generation the EC leadership is proposing a whole new "map" to deal with what they perceive is a lack of understanding on the part of the churches on how to communicate.  EC proponants believe the "scripture" for today is evolving and must change in order to reach postmoderns.

Idolatry In Their Hearts
Landmark Book!
by Sandy Simpson & Mike Oppenheimer
Does having eternity in your heart mean that you know God and are His child? Could Gentile cultures understand the Gospel from the stars? Did God create man's cultures? Has God always been in the process of redeeming cultures from the time of Babel by placing in them a true revelation of Himself? Is there the worship of YHWH in all cultures and religions through the names of supreme beings?  Have all cultures always had a way to make things right between them and God? These questions and many more are answered in this book that addresses the false teachings of The New Apostolic Reformation regarding missiological methods as being carried out by many agencies including the World Christian Gathering on Indigenous People, YWAM, and many Bible societies.

Lessons In Forgiveness
Great Study!
by Sandy Simpson

Through the years I have been presented with many opportunities to forgive. Sometimes the situation was so severe that it took me some time to forgive and start the process of healing for myself, and eventually for others. I learned that a Christian needs to forgive other people even if they have not repented of their sins. That can be really hard if we let it be hard. But if we give our burdens over to the Lord, He will carry them and that frees us up to treat other people with love, compassion, and be in the right frame of mind and heart to set them up for reconciliation with Jesus Christ. That does not mean we tolerate their sin. We simply forgive them for what they have done to us, whether perceived or real, and move on to looking for ways to redeem them. We can then present to them the "truth in love" even when we have to rebuke them.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK ... Archive!

"I’m asking you to consider with me one of the most familiar verses in the entire Bible, John:3:16 'For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.' It is a verse that we have known since earliest childhood. It is an inexhaustible store of treasures of grace. It comprises more of God’s grace in fewer words than any other statement in the Scripture, in my opinion. 'For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.' It is a verse that is little understood by us. Since its first truth [that God loved us] is so clear and is so needful to us, we have a tendency to feel that is all there is in it.  Christianity is true, for I have known too many people who call themselves Christians. If anyone goes into eternity lost and makes his eternal dwelling place in this place we have described as the penitentiary of the universe called hell, he will have to do it over the pleadings of the Word of God, and remonstrance of conscience, the warning of friends, and the ruling of the Holy Ghost. It is possible for a person to die unsaved, and many do, but it is impossible to die unloved." - Paris Reidhead (Missionary in Africa for many years, who later continued his effective ministry in the States pastoring and preaching)

Questions for Those Who Claim the "Supreme Beings"
Of the Nations Are the True God
by Sandy Simpson

This DVD is a message based on this article.

I have some questions for those of the World Christian Gathering of Indigenous People (WCGIP) adherents such as Don Richardson, Daniel Kikawa, Richard Twiss (deceased), Terry LeBlanc, Danny Lehman, Aloha Ke Akua, YWAM as well as many in the Emergent Church (EC) ... the questions arise from their claim that the "supreme beings" of the nations are all the True God, YHWH, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.  You can read more on this subject in our book "Idolatry In Their Hearts" or in the WCGIP section of my site. My main question for them is this: When did ANY of the Patriarchs and Prophets in the Old Testament and the Apostles or Jesus Christ in the New Testament EVER claim that the "supreme beings" of the nations were Elohim/YHWH, the one True God?  Let's look at some examples in the form of questions and you can check out the source links as well.

How To Discern, Test & Judge Rightly
by Sandy Simpson

This DVD is a message based on this article.

In running a web site with thousands of articles, 1-2 million hits per month from all over the world, and hundreds of e-mails per week, I have come to realize, with time, that there is a terrible problem in Christendom today. The problem stems from an existential subjective view of the world that has filtered into the church from secular society, but also from the teachings of heretical wolves who have taught an entire generation of churchgoers completely unbiblical methods of discernment or to get rid of any discernment altogether.

We need a firm foundation to weather the storm of false ideas
by Sandy Simpson

This DVD is a message based on this article.

Matthew 22:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God. (KJV)
Matthew 7:24 "Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock.
How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord,
Is laid for your faith in His excellent word!
© 1787 Joseph Funk & Robert Keene

A house built on the rock will stand.  The Rock is God and in particular, Jesus Christ.  Therefore His written Word is the teachings of the His Holy Spirit and a Rock we can depend on.  Anyone who wants to prove anything theologically, historically, scientifically or anything else needs to start with correct information.  If you start with a faulty foundation, as you build your arguments, they begin to fall apart because they are not supported in God"s truth.  If you want to build on a firm foundation, you need to start the process by a careful study of God"s Word in context of the verse and according to the whole counsel of God"s Word.  The Bible is the best commentary on the Bible.

3/11/15 - What I Fear More than Islamic Jihadists by Michael Youssef , 3/11/15
“I do not fear Islamic Jihadists nearly as much as I fear the Christian church in the West departing from biblical orthodoxy.” That was how I opened a speech I made recently to the National Religious Broadcasters convention in Nashville, Tennessee. What gives that fear such certainty is the knowledge of a historical fact—namely, throughout history, Islam grew when Christianity was weakened through its departure from biblical authority. There is no doubt that Islam grew out of a corpse of a church that was beset with heresy and apostasy. Immediately prior to the rise of Islam, viruses of false gospels had marred Christianity beyond recognition. Christianity dominated regions of the Middle East, North Africa, and Europe. But despite that strength, the founder of Islam was confused and frustrated when he listened to some Christian leaders casting doubt on the divinity of Christ—the very heart of Christianity. The falsehoods facing the church then are not unlike the ones the church in the West faces today. Then, they were known as: “Arianism,” “Nestorianism,” “Sabellianism,” “Ebionism.” Today, they go by names such as: “universalism,” “heterodoxy,” “emergent church,” “insider movement,” “hyper grace,” “Chrislam.”

Listen!  Episode 43 - November 2011, Sandy Simpson: The New Apostolic Reformation
"For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ." 2Corinthians 11:13 Sandy Simpson, of the Apologetics Coordination Team, joins me to discuss the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR). Sandy runs Deception in the Church, an extensive library of resources on the NAR and related movements and organizations. Sandy does a fantastic job of describing in just an hour a movement that really needs many hours to really understand properly. It is my hope that this episode will inspire people to dig deeper to learn more about the New Apostolic Reformation and the unbiblical practices that go on within the movement. Please check out the show notes and visit the additional resources section. The New Apostolic Reformation is a dangerous movement that is carrying many Christians away from orthodox, Biblical practices. This episode is available to stream or download here.
Listen!  Episode 55: November 2012, Sandy Simpson: The New Apostolic Reformation - Part 2
"Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are kravenous wolves." - Matthew 7:15 A year ago, for the November 2011 episode, I interviewed Sandy Simpson on the New Apostolic Reformation. Sandy heads up the Apologetics Coordination Team, and runs Deception in the Church, an extensive library of resources on the NAR and related movements and organizations. This episode is a follow-up to our previous discussion. We began with the assumption that those listening have heard the first discussion we had. If you haven't, that episode can be found here. We answer some questions people had from that episode, get into some further examination of the New Apostolic Reformation, and try to keep from repeating what was already covered as much as possible.

4/8/15 - Warning! Spiritual Deception Abounds! (MP3) by VCY America, 4/8/15
Today more than ever we seem to be bombarded with individuals who are intentionally attempting to get people to believe lies regarding Christianity, our Lord and Savior and His word, the Bible. One example is Reverend John Shuck, who ministers at Southminster Presbyterian Church in Beaverton, Oregon.  Reverend Shuck claims he doesn't believe in God yet defends his 'Christianity.'  He also claims that the Bible is a human product and that while Jesus may have been a historical figure, most of what we know about him is legend.  To Reverend Shuck, God is a symbol of myth-making and isn't credible as a supernatural being or force.  This is just one example that Vic presented of people today who, while standing in their pulpits wearing their religious garb, propose ideas that have nothing to do with the Bible. The result?  A survey of more than 4,000 adults shows that Americans are conflicted regarding Jesus, the central figure of Christianity.  The survey showed that the idea that Jesus is God just doesn't register well with 'millennials' (those born between 1984 and 2002). This edition of Crosstalk also mentioned a new Bible that replaces the name of God with that of rap star Kanye West, Vic retells the story of The Modernist Preacher Entering Hell and callers share their comments as well.

3/5/15 - Oprah Winfrey’s New Age “Christianity” and the Emperor’s New Clothes (Booklet) by Lighthouse Trails, 3/5/15
Oprah has done her job well. For nearly thirty years, she has enthusiastically and consistently communicated her New Age beliefs through countless New Age authors. All those in the “Aquarian Conspiracy” must be very proud of her. Thanks to Oprah’s high visibility and continued popularity, “the great heretical idea” that “God” and “Christ” are within everyone has been “widely communicated” and is fast becoming our “new consensus” and “what everyone knows.” This ten-week class that she was teaching with Eckhart Tolle was the culmination of all that Oprah has sought to teach her viewers over the years about the New Age and how to see the world anew. But like the Emperor and his “new” suit of clothes, Oprah has been greatly deceived by her New Spirituality. Sadly, if Oprah and her colleagues continue down the path of the New Age/New Spirituality, they will experience an “awakening” some day, but it will not be the “Great Awakening” they anticipated. Instead, it will be a rude awakening come Judgment Day. On that day, they will suddenly realize that God is God and they are not, and they never were. They will realize that Jesus Christ is Lord and that He is the one and only Christ, and there is no universal “Christ within.” They will see that they were deceived and that the Lord Jesus Christ really meant it when he said, “Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many” (Matthew 24:4-5).
3/10/15 - Exposed: The False Faith Healing-Prosperity Gospel (Book) by Danny J. Frigulti, 3/10/15
Author Danny Frigulti has spent more than 30 years reviewing "faith teachings." This book exposes more than 100 false teachings found in worldwide faith healing and prosperity gospel ministries. False teachings about sickness, healing, faith, positive confession, quantum faith, money, inner healing, Isaiah 53:4-5, 1 Peter 2:24, creative visualization and what the blood of Christ's atonement represents are refuted with Bible Scriptures. Also, some of these false teachings are shown to have an occult connection.
3/24/15 - The Gift of Righteousness by Orrell Steinkamp, The Plumbline, Christmas 2014
Long before Saint Nicholas started Christmas gifts and long before the medieval church started Christmass. God gave us the Unspeakable Gift of Jesus our Savior But more specifically the Gospel gives the gift that keeps on giving, namely “the gift of righteousness.” This is not my invention for Romans speaks of the “gift of righteousness.” Romans 5: 17 : “ because one man's (Adam) trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteogsness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ.” Indeed, we all understand about giving gifts at Christmas now let us also celebrate the “gift of righteousness.”A gift is a gift and the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus is a pure unearned gift. Mike Riccardi in the blog “Cripplegate” masterfully describes the “righteousness of God” that is at the center of the Gospel and the meaning of justification. The Greek word for “justification” is derived from the Greek word righteousness and can be translated as “being made righteous.”
3/24/15 - Who is Winning the Infiltration Battle? by Orrell Steinkamp, The Plumbline, Volume 20, No. 1, January/February 2014
Well Do I remember the halcyon days about 15 years ago when the Evangelical church first recognized the arrival of Post Modernism. I remember well a pastors meeting in southern
Minnesota. Two youth pastors were giddy thinking a new day had dawned and now we would have an unbiased ear from the culture. These youth pastors were about to attend a yearly annual Leadership Network Conference in San Diego. For them a new opportunity had arrived for evangelism. Now we didn't have to debate about such modernism ideas as creation etc. etc. Now the culture generally could not so easily dismiss our faith ideas and we would be free at last to dialogue with the non christian world without proving miracles, creation, etc. Now postmodern culture would have to respect our faith. Postmodernism declared everyone's truth was equally valid and now everyone had a right to their own truth claims. Whoopee! Now we can openly infiltrate the culture. But likewise, the culture can more easily infiltrate the Postmodern Church. It now comes down to the desires and whims of the people. Who will win the desires contest, the church or the pop culture? Who has the most confidence in their “truth” and win the ratings battle. Who will win the infiltration contest. The World or the Kingdom of God?
3/24/15 - If You Hold Hands with the World Long Enough, Don't Be Surprised If You Start Going Steady by Orrell Steinkamp, The Plumbline, Volume 20, No. 2, March/April 2015
In the last edition of the Plumbline, I and others detailed how the neo-evangelical experiment, now over 50 years old, has unfortunately resulted in the Gospel being infiltrated with cultural thinking and practice in ways that were surely not predicted back at the institution of the neo-evangelical experiment. Surely, there was a need for a new openness to the culture in order to reach the culture. 'I'he fundamentalists of the 30's and 40's had become unnecessarily inclusive and even separatistic. What was needed was a move to presenting the Gospel openly and without embarrassment. The fundamentalist legalism of no lipstick etc. was too separatistic and legalistic. The neo-evangelical move to open biblical and evangelical seminaries fulfilled a great need. But as the new evangelical movement progressed, speaking clearly became confused with joining the culture. In my view, however, the new movement went from friendly discussion to dialogue looking for accommodation. The Chuck Coulson initiated movement, “Evangelical and Catholics Together” (ECF), to me was some kind of watershed, which resulted in a great desire to unify and adapt the gospel we preach with the message of Rome which does not have a saving gospel. This ultimately opened the door for the new pope Francis to emotionally appeal to Charismatics at a pastors conference via a cell phone and getting a huge welcome from Kenneth Copeland the titular head of the Word/Faith movement with hundreds of cheering pastors in attendance. Later James Robison/Beth Moore and others listened to this same emotional ecumenical plea from pope Francis and also responded with joy.

3/30/15 - 10 Questions For Those Who Claim The "Supreme Beings" Of The Nations Are The True God (Booklet) at Lighthouse Trails, 3/30/15

4/12/15 - A New Apostolic Reformation?: A Biblical Response to a Worldwide Movement (Book) by R.Douglas Geivett (Author), Holly Pivec (Author), 4/12/15
This critique provides a framework for understanding and interpreting the widespread but little-known New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) movement. As the authors state in the preface: "We write this book with two major goals in mind. First, to give people an idea of the sheer size and reach of the NAR movement. And second, to systematize its key teachings and practices and evaluate them on the basis of Scripture and careful reasoning … . In our judgment, the NAR perspective crosses these boundaries [that is, certain broad parameters, revealed in Scripture and practiced in the historical orthodox church], and it does so in part because of flawed theology rooted in a flawed understanding of Scripture. We wish to warn readers about a possible confusion: Some critics have linked the NAR movement with mainstream Pentecostalism and charismatics. We do not do this. In fact, it is our contention that the NAR movement deviates from classical Pentecostal and charismatic teachings. This movement has emerged out of independent charismatic churches and, thus, has gained a foothold in many of those churches in varying degrees."

Pornography, cruelty, sadism, violence, and occultism leaped out at me from the pages. In less than five minutes, I had skimmed through all I could take. In this booklet tract, I want to give you a brief overview of what young people are being handed today in the form of books and literature. 3/26/15 - Who is your Holy Father? by Richard Bennett, 3/26/15
Under the title of "Holy Father" Pope Francis is due to visit the USA in September 2015. Thus, we ask the question, “Who truly is your Holy Father?” A Christian’s relationship with the Holy Father is crucial. Thus, Jesus Christ prayed, Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.” Only those who have been placed in Christ Jesus by God’s grace alone have the right and privilege to call Holy God their Father. Nevertheless, the Vatican both teaches a different gospel and, on its website, claims a successive chain of 266 “holy fathers,” or popes, from St. Peter to Pope Francis.
4/9/15 - Do Catholics Possess Life Eternal? (MP3) by Richard Bennett and W. J. Mencarow, 4/9/15
In this message W. J. Mencarow and I with great sensitivity answer this question. Because I remember the grip that Catholicism had on my own soul for 48 years I speak with affection for Catholics. Yet while we analyze official Catholic teachings in the light of biblical faith an irrefutable conclusion is reached. Catholics who listen to this message may indeed be thankful that we have delicately pinpointed issues, of which they had been apprehensive for a long time. Some Evangelicals also may be thankful that we have exposed the false ecumenical movements such as “Evangelicals and Catholics Together” and “Christian Churches Together.” Kindly make this MP3 known to your family and friends.

3/27/15 - New Trend: ‘Radically Inclusive’ Churches That Embrace All Religions And All Lifestyles by End Of The American Dream, 3/27/15
If you want as many people to attend your church as possible, why limit yourself to just Christians?  All over America, “radically inclusive” churches that embrace all religions and all lifestyles are starting to pop up.  Church services that incorporate elements of Hinduism, Islam, native American religions and even Wicca are becoming increasingly common.  And even if you don’t believe anything at all, that is okay with these churches too.  In fact, as you will see below, one Presbyterian minister in Oregon is even inviting people to “bring their own god” to church.  But if these churches don’t really stand for anything at all, what is their purpose?  And what does the popularity of these churches say about the future of religion in America?

3/3/15 - "What is Renovaré / the Renovaré Bible?" by GotQuestions, 3/3/15
For these and other reasons, Renovaré is considered by some to be a theologically dangerous movement. Like many parts of the contemplative spirituality movement, Renovaré preys upon the spiritually hungry and points them not to the cross of Christ or God's inerrant Word but to man’s traditions and emotional human experience. The wise and discerning Christian will examine carefully all claims of the Renovaré movement and compare each with Scripture. That which contradicts the Word of God must be rejected.

3/20/15 - Why is Steven Furtick Acting Like a Cult Leader? by Crosswalk, 3/20/15
Charlotte pastor Steven Furtick and his Elevation Church are making waves this week as more is revealed about Elevation’s odd fixation on their “Lead Pastor” as well as some of the questionable practices of the church, including “spontaneous baptism.” Indeed, many people are sounding the alarm and calling Pastor Furtick a “cult-leader in the making,” though Elevation Church describes him as a visionary they need to unequivocally support. Reformation 21’s Todd Pruitt and Matthew Paul Turner both share a page from Elevation’s Sunday school coloring book that’s been circulating around. The image depicts the Elevation congregation looking up at Furtick in the pulpit. The text reads, “We are united under the visionary,” and “Elevation Church is built on the vision God gave Pastor Steven. We will protect our Unity in Supporting His Vision.” Of this, Matthew Paul Turner writes, “While the grownups are listening to Pastor Steven preach, the little ones are in Sunday school learning about “unity.” I actually cringed when I saw this. Not even the fundamentalist church I was raised in featured coloring pictures of our pastor. There’s nothing good or holy or trustworthy about this kind of b.s. It’s dangerous religion. It’s the kind of evangelical brainwashing that all of us should be calling out. This should make us angry. Because its wrong. And because it’s not Christianity.”

4/13/15 - Christian Pastors and Leaders – Exchanging the Word of God for a “New” Way of Doing Things by David Dombrowski, 4/13/15
The church of today is very much astir. Everywhere we turn,  embellishments are being added to Christianity as if to improve it. The old ways do not seem to satisfy anymore. A great influx of new teachings and practices have exchanged the God of old as depicted in the pages of the Bible with a deity much more palatable to the post-modern mind. Brennan Manning illustrates this when he stated in one of his books, “ . . . the god who exacts the last drop of blood from His Son, so that His just anger, evoked by sin, may be appeased is not the God revealed by and in Jesus Christ. And if he is not the God of Jesus, he does not exist.”  This “progressive” contemplative/emerging church has gone so far as to place in pulpits men who blaspheme God and who deny the atonement. But let us step back for a moment to see how emerging thought has developed. Such a statement did not come out of the blue, but as Ray Yungen suggests, a “creeping” effect made it all possible.
4/15/15 - Mennonites Walk Ruth Haley Barton’s Mystical Bridge by Lighthouse Trails, 4/15/15
Ruth Haley Barton, founder of The Transforming Centre[1], was trained at the Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formation which teaches: “This mystical stream [contemplative prayer] is the Western bridge to Far Eastern spirituality … It is no accident that the most active frontier between Christian and Eastern religions today is between contemplative Christian monks and their Eastern equivalents.” —Tilden Edwards, Shalem Founder[2] Barton, who could not find peace or direction in her Baptist roots or through reading the Bible and praying, found fulfillment through spiritual direction. Now she incorporates a blend of Eastern and Roman Catholic contemplative spirituality and monastic practices in her retreats and books on practicing the presence of God in the silence and sacred rhythms of prayer. Lately she has been very instrumental in leading entire Protestant and Anabaptist church congregations and their leaders into these same practices through spiritual direction and discernment seminars. This year, the Mennonites have once again[3] brought in Ruth Haley Barton to help them make decisions in the silence regarding some very important upcoming issues that include LGBTQ and anti-Israel BDS resolutions. How tragic to see an entire church delegation over looking all that is necessary in their discernment process (the Bible), thereby shunning to declare the whole counsel of God (Acts 20:27) in seeking guidance from an apprentice of Thomas Merton and Tilden Edwards.

False Teachers & Prophets

3/23/15 - See, we told you he was a prophet….!  Really? by Mike Oppenheimer, 3/23/15
When God gives a vision it is connected to what he is or is going to do among his people, and it is to prophesy. It’s not like a psychic vision of disaster or of the future that has nothing to do with Israel, the church. William Branham said he experienced a series of 7 visions in 1933; this was the fourth one in the series. “The Lord Jesus spoke to me and said that the coming of the Lord was drawing nigh, but that before He came, seven major events would transpire. I wrote them all down and that morning I gave forth the revelation of the Lord.” One Sunday morning about seven o'clock it happened. And It said, "Then there would come to pass that they'd invent a car that they didn't need a steering wheel in it; it'd be controlled by some kind of a power." They got it now. They got it now, a magnetic power, radar control. They don't even... Just set your radar to where you're going, it takes you yourself; you don't have to steer it. (Ephesian Church age Jefferson Indiana 131 - 183, 60 – 1205)  Branham had received a message but from whom is the question? This was not a vision form the Lord because of how vague it is, besides its inaccuracy. Not to mention this was encased with 6 other visions Branham had. Seven Major events were revealed to him in a vision before he was to preach in a Masonic hall. What was he doing in a Masonic Hall is a good question to ask, as Masons hold Christ in disrepute.

Rodney Howard-Browne

3/7/15 - Elephant in the Room: Rodney Howard-Browne and America’s “Great Awakening” by Lighthouse Trails, 3/7/15
Lighthouse Trails recently published a booklet titled False Revival Coming: Part 1. The booklet expressed our concern that Holy Laughter/Holy Ghost bartender Rodney Howard-Browne was not only back—but had apparently never gone away! With discernment at an all time low in the church, Browne is traveling the world with what he describes as his God-mandated “Great Awakening Tour.” He hopes his tour will ignite a global transformation to the Christian faith. Partnering with New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) figures like Bethel’s Bill Johnson, Randy Clark, and others, Howard-Browne and his NAR colleagues would have the church believe they are bringing about the ultimate end-times “revival”—a “Great Awakening” move of God that will usher in a planetary Pentecost.

New Apostolic Reformation

3/10/15 - The Attack Of The Enemy On Churches by Sandy Simpson, 3/10/15
So much heresy is entering the churches these days.  As you would suspect, sometimes it is due to a pastor attending a conference or reading a book and becoming diapraxed with unbiblical ideas.  He then starts to weave those ideas into his messages and begins to invite speakers to the church who expound on those ideas.  Then when confronted by someone in the church who has reservations about the new stuff being taught, they are told to not talk about it and just go along with the program.  If that person does not they are ostracized, slander behind their back, and often told to leave (which is what they should do in any case).  But my observation is that it is not only the pastor who causes unbiblical changes to influence a church.  Often the pastor is blissfully unaware of influences coming into his church.  They often come in through (1) the worship team (2) women’s groups (3) bookstore (4) children’s programs (5) interdenominational prayer efforts and (6) relief and mission organizations.  If unchecked this type of infiltration is much more subtle and can become deeply rooted.
3/25/15 - NAR prophet Chuck Pierce gives ‘mantle’ to Mormon Glenn Beck by Spirit of Error, 3/25/15
On Sunday, Chuck Pierce–an influential prophet in the New Apostolic Reformation–presented a “new mantle for the future” to television and radio host Glenn Beck, a Mormon. The mantle was presented to Beck at Pierce’s Global Spheres Center in Corinth, Texas, during a church service Beck attended with his family.
4/1/15 - Two NAR Organizations to Watch by Spirit of Error, 4/1/15
Anyone who has concerns about the New Apostolic Reformation should keep an eye on two organizations: the International Coalition of Apostolic Leaders, led by “Convening Apostle” John P. Kelly, and its daughter structure, the European Coalition of Apostolic Leaders, led by “convener” Jan-Aage Torp. These two networks are energetically working “to build apostolic government in all cities and regions.” You may be surprised to learn just how extensively apostles in many nations are networking to promote NAR teachings.
4/5/15 - IHOP-KC Promotes Sexaholics Anonymous, Contemplative Spirituality, Alcoholics Anonymous by John Lanagan, 4/7/15
Despite proclamations about the love and power of Christ, when all is said and done, the International House of Prayer offers onsite Alcoholics Anonymous, Sexaholics Anonymous, and Codependents Anonymous meetings to those who are in bondage.[1] All churches and organizations associated with the New Apostolic Reformation are in error–but some far more than others.

4/16/15 - Will Christians Replace Commitment to the Gospel for Commitment to a Unified Dominionist Agenda to “Save the Country”? by Lighthouse Trails, 4/16/15
As America is fast approaching another presidential election year, Dominionist/Kingdom Now political and religious figures are joining forces with evangelical Christian groups. While having concern for the state of America is more than legitimate, will Christians replace commitment and loyalty to the Gospel for commitment and loyalty to a dominionist agenda? If they do, they will learn the hard way that compromise and a “whatever it takes” attitude will do more harm to the cause of Jesus Christ than good. This article is not a statement that Christians should not be involved in or concerned about the political state of their countries. Rather, the intention of this article is to exhort believers to use discernment in understanding the times in which we live. It is to show how a present ecumenical, dominionist movement (that is heading toward a one-world religion to “establish the kingdom of God on earth”) is operating and deceiving many Christians. As Christians, we are to be witnesses for Jesus Christ and His Gospel message of salvation. But today, many Christians may be on the brink of buying into a plan that will ultimately create a global religion and global government.
4/18/15 - Washington State Churches and Organizations That Promote the NAR by Spirit of Error, 4/18/15
My co-author, Doug Geivett, is headed to Washington state this weekend to speak about the New Apostolic Reformation at a large apologetics conference. In preparation, I’ve been compiling a list of churches, organizations, and individuals in the state that promote NAR teachings, practices, and/or leaders. I thought this list might be helpful for some of my readers who live in Washington or have friends who do. Here it is in PDF format. The list is not exhaustive. Let me know if I’ve left out any church or organization.

New World Order

4/16/15 - Conforming the Church to the New World Order by Berit Kjos, 4/16/15
The church-state partnerships touted by candidates Bush and Gore fit the picture. These political alliances are already being established from coast to coast, not by law, but by an army of willing and often well-meaning religious leaders.  Those who share the UN vision of the 21st Century community usually lead the parade. They seek a global village of peace and social equality – unified, not by faith in the Biblical God, but by faith in human nature and a pluralistic god-spirit operating in and through each person.  Christian evangelism doesn’t fit this utopian vision. It offends people of other faiths. It threatens the religious leaders who have built their platform on humanitarian ideals rather than the Bible. And it clashes with the international standards for tolerance and mental health.  This spiritual shift didn’t start in the nineties. Liberal ecclesiastical leaders realized more than fifty years ago that Biblical absolutes, separateness, and evangelism would block their agenda. To clear the way, they built the foundations for today’s worldwide movement that would

  • Equate Biblical truth and evangelism with hate and intolerance
  • Redefine Christianity
  • Hold Christians accountable to global standards for mental health
  • Conform churches to the demands in UNESCO’s Declaration on Religion in a Culture of Peace
  • Build the framework for global control
  • Establish the one world church

3/4/15 - Self: Mankind's Number One Problem by T.A. McMahon, 3/4/15
Views about "self" today are confusing at least. The world has a number of them. All teach the importance of one's having a positive regard for one's self. The Bible, on the other hand, has nothing good to say about self. Nevertheless, the church, particularly in the last one hundred years, has increasingly reflected what the world preaches rather than what the Scriptures teach. As Dave Hunt reminds us, "Although we cannot define self any more than we can define soul or being or beauty, we can clearly see where self was first manifested, how it happened, and the eternal result. We can also see that self not only defines one person as distinct from all others, but it also defines man as distinct from God. What the Bible seems to mean by self is man cut off from God, acting and possessing independently" (Hunt, Beyond Seduction [Eugene, Oregon: Harvest House Publishers] 153).
3/7/15 - Spiritual Warfare Part 6 - The Misguided Aims of the Counterfeit "Church" by Berit Kjos - January, 2012
Almost two millennia ago, Jesus called His Church to follow Him, treasure His Word and spread His gospel. Countless thousands did. By faith, they faced torture and persecution, hatred and death. Yet they rejoiced, for they knew they were sharing the life and suffering of Jesus!  His eternal Kingdom was far more precious to them than any earthly treasure.
3/14/15 - Ex-Mars Hill pastor Mark Driscoll returns to evangelical orbit by Joel Connelly, 3/14/15
Controversial ex-Mars Hill Church senior pastor Mark Driscoll will resurface at Hillsong 2015, two summer conferences in Sydney, Australia and London sponsored by an Australian-based, multi-city mega church. Joined by his wife, Grace, Driscoll will not be in the pulpit but in the interview chair before an audience expected to number in the thousands. Brian Houston, Hillsong Church senior pastor, delivered a statement Thursday night to Warren Throckmorton, a Pennsylvania college professor who followed Mars Hill’s 2014 meltdown for the Patheos website.  Said Houston: “Well in advance of his resignation as senior pastor at Seattle-based Mars Hill Church, we invited Mark Driscoll to be one of our speakers this summer. “Rather than having Mark preach or teach, I am excited about interviewing Mark and Grace from our main platform during our Hillsong Conference 2015.
3/15/15 - Beyond Seduction - Does a Positive Self-Image Make You a Better Person? by Dave Hunt & T.A. McMahon, 3/21/15
Our topic for discussion in this segment of our program is, and has been for the last few weeks, what the Bible has to say about self in contrast to teachings about self promoted in the world, and, to a large degree, in professing Christianity. Self is the solution to all humanity’s problems according to the so-called wisdom of psychology. It is the key to fulfilling human potential - that without a good self-image or loving one’s self adequately, humans will never improve their status or situation in life. On the other hand, the Bible says that self is mankind’s problem, and gives a prophetic warning about it in 2 Timothy:3:1This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come., 2: “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves….” That says it pretty clearly, doesn’t it, Dave? I think anybody could look around and see that’s where we are today. Dave: On the other hand, Tom, a person could say, “Well, haven’t human beings always been narcissistic lovers of self?” So, yes, that is true, but today it’s gone beyond that. It’s no longer looked upon as wrong, but it’s a virtue.

3/26/15 - Number of Americans Who Say They Have No Religion Hits Record High, Survey Finds at Understand The Times, 3/26/15
New data analysis on the 2014 General Social Survey conducted by NORC and the University of Chicago has found that although Americans are abandoning specific religions at record high numbers, the rate of those who said they believe in God has remained steady. The Associated Press identified it as one of the major findings of the survey, which asked a number of wide-ranging questions of the American public. The data found that back in 1972, only 5 percent of respondents said that they have no religion, but by 2014, 21 percent said the same, which is a record high.
3/28/15 - 1 in 4 Americans Don't Believe in God; Lack of Trust in Local Churches Cited as a Reason Why Adults Are Leaving the Faith at Understand The Times, 3/28/15
Barna Group has released its 2015 study on the state of atheism in America, and has revealed that one in four unchurched adults in the country now identify as atheists or agnostics. The study also found that rejection of the Bible and lack of trust in the church are two main reasons why people are turning away from faith. The study was focused on those who have not attended church within the past six months, and found that the majority of such people identify as non-practicing Christians. One in four, or 25 percent, however, were classed as skeptics, which Barna defines as people who "either do not believe God exists (atheists) or are not sure God exists, but are open to the possibility (agnostics)." Of that number, nearly one-third said that they have never attended a Christian church service in their lives. Barna found that the three main reasons people decide not to believe in God stem from rejection of the Bible; lack of trust in the local church; and the "cultural reinforcement of a secular worldview."
4/4/15 - Persecution at the Door - Are You Prepared? by Anton Bosch, 4/4/15
While reviewing church history recently I was reminded of some of the things we should learn from history. But before I share those with you, I want to remind you that what normally passes for church history is the history of the apostate church (lower case “c”). The history of the true Church is not normally taught in Bible schools and seminaries except for a passing mention to the little groups of true believers that were a thorn in the side of the institutional churches.
4/8/15 - Most Americans now say Jesus actually a sinner at Understand The Times, 4/8/15
Despite more than nine out of 10 Americans agreeing Jesus was a historical figure, what they believe about Him diverges widely, according to a newly released survey from the Barna Research Group, a nonprofit organization that has been analyzing cultural trends related to religious belief since 1984.
4/10/15 - Report: Christianity Most Persecuted Faith Worldwide at Crossroad, 4/10/15
Christians continue to be the most persecuted faith, though the gap has dropped over time. In 2007 Christians were penalized or harassed in various ways in 107 countries. That peaked at 111 in 2010, dropped and then rose again to 110 in 2012, and dropped to 102 in 2013. Muslims were mistreated in the second most number of countries. They were at 96 in 2007, peaked at 109 in 2012, and dropped to 99 in 2013. Jews suffered in 51 nations in 2007 and have steadily increased, with a large jump from 71 in 2012 to 77 in 2013. Persecution of others stood at 38 in 2013; Buddhists were at 12 and Hindus at 9. The second group facing persecution in more countries in 2013 than 2012 was folk religions, rising from 26 to 34. What makes Jewish persecution numbers so striking and frightening is that Jews make up just .2 percent of the world’s population.

Rightly Handling The Word

3/12/15 - God's Method of Consistently 'Warning' and 'Teaching' (Video) by Chris Lawson, 3/12/15
One of the ways God expresses this is through his consistent warnings against satanic spiritual deception, false teachers, false prophets, deceivers, the enemies of Israel, liars, deceivers, spiritism, sorcerers, the tools of the occult, the enemies of the Church, false gospels, counterfeit "Jesus's," false apostles, false brethren, doctrines of demons, the antichrist spirit that dominates each age and the world's system, Mystery Babylon, end-times deception the coming personal Antichrist and his false prophet (Rev. 13) and more.
3/15/15 - They will reject truth and believe The Lie! by Mike Oppenheimer, 3/15/15
John 14:16-17 "And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever-- "the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. This is what separates believers from the world, keeps them from the world and the enemy who rules over it, TRUTH. We are kept by the Spirit of truth.
3/15/15 - The Danger of "New Revelation" by Mike Oppenheimer, 3/15/15
Paul writes in 1 Cor. 4:6, “that you may learn in us not to think beyond what is written that none of you may be puffed up on behalf of one against the other. Once someone is allowed to tell people stories like; Jesus appeared to them in their room or they visited heaven and they were given new revelation, the rest comes easy. They become as if lost at sea, adrift with their fantasy revelation that makes them more important. They have something to say that no one else does because they were chosen.
3/18/15 - Those Who Are Spiritually Deceived Are No Longer Able to Think for Themselves by Kevin Reeves, 3/18/15
Some may think it is extreme to compare the spiritual deception and control tactics within the church today to that of the Nazi regime and the death camps, but we should remember that the church in Germany in the 1930s was very much like the church is today—having a head in the sand mentality about spiritual deception and turning religious leaders into super-human heroes who can do no wrong. Perhaps we are not all that different than Christians in Germany back then. We should not fool ourselves and think we would never be duped like that.
3/29/15 - The Old Rugged Cross by Crossroad, 3/29/15
"...the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are saved it is the power of God." (1 Corinthians 1:18) To a world bent on social unity and moral laxity, the cross stands as a divisive and humiliating obstacle. Attempts to minimize its offense through laws and intimidation have bullied both secular and church leaders into continual compromise. Public crosses are demolished or hidden; Bibles are forbidden in schools, the traditional days for celebrating the resurrection have been renamed "spring break;" and countless corporations and government agencies ban cross-shaped pins or jewelry. Even Jesus Himself has become a popular target for media mockery and ridicule!
4/1/15 - Noah’s story...will it become our story? by Mike Oppenheimer, 4/1/15
Noah’s story is one of separation as he kept himself and his family from the defections and corruption of the society he lived in. He gave a testimony to all those who would ask about the boat he was building, not doubt being mocked as it was being built. The people watching him do this year after year for their whole lives until it was completed.

Word Of Faith

3/14/15 - Dollar Insanity… Treasures on Earth by Trinity Foundation, 3/14/15
Way back in 2005, Creflo Dollar’s ‘blab-it-grab-it’ mentor, Kenneth Copeland, convinced quite a few donors to contribute to his ministry’s purchase of the world’s then-fastest private jet, the Cessna Citation 750 a/k/a the “Citation X” for only a cool $20 million—which Copeland uses regularly to travel to his Steamboat Springs resort home. Now the ‘name-it-claim-it’ doctrine has struck again!  The aptly named Dollar is ‘believing’ for a whopping $65M to buy one of the now-world’s fastest, longest range, most luxurious private jets, the Gulfstream G650—if only 200,000 donors will give his ministry $300 each!??  Check out Christian Post reporter, Leonardo Blair’s article …
3/17/15 - Pilot Rips Claim by Creflo Dollar Ministries That It Needs $65 Million Luxury Airplane to Carry '100,000 Pounds of Food' by Leonardo Blair, The Christian Post, 3/17/15
David Graham, Global Express aircraft captain with Advanced Air Management, which "specializes in the management of long-range business jets owned by individuals and entities desiring the opportunity to offset the cost of ownership through private charter," decried the explanation by Dollar's media representative as nonsense in an email message to CP late Friday. "The G650 MAX RAMP WEIGHT is 99,600# then add 4,000# for the G650ER. IT CANNOT CARRY 12 PEOPLE AND 1000,000 # OF FOOD AND SUPPLIES LIKE THE COMMENTER SAYS!!!! CREFLO IS A CROOK AND SCAMMIN (sic) HIS CHURCH IN THE NAME OF THE LORD!!!" wrote an incensed Graham.

3/17/15 - Florida Church Popular for Hosting Nude Spring Break Parties With 'Sexiest Ladies on the Beach' Loses Tax-Exempt Status by Samuel Smith, The Christian Post, 3/17/15
A church on the gulf coast of Florida has lost its tax-exempt status after authorities discovered that its building was being used to host nude parties with "the sexiext ladies on the beach" and served as an after-hours nightclub to avid college party-goers visiting the town while on spring break. Beginning on Feb. 28, the Panama City Church Life Center: A Spiritual Community, run by pastor Markus Bishop, opened its doors to the Spring Break crowd by hosting a week-long event, which has been labeled as "Spring Break Amnesia: The Tabernacle." According to a schedule for the tabernacle obtained by the Panama City News Herald, events hosted in the church included a "slumber" party with a dress code of pajamas and lingerie, an "anything but clothes" party, a "Mardi Gras" themed party where the schedule asks "what will you do for your beads?" The week-long event also included the "wet and wild" party, a rave-style event, and was capped off with an all-night-long party on Friday.
3/19/15 - Creflo Dollar Shuts Down Campaign for $65 Million Jet; Will Now Focus on 'Spreading the Gospel' by Leonardo Blair, The Christian Post, 3/19/15
After a bruising weekend handling ferocious backlash over his campaign to acquire a $65 million Gulfstream G650 airplane with planned donations of $300 or more from 200,000 people, controversial televangelist and founder of World Changers Church International, Creflo Dollar has completely abandoned the idea and will only consider acquiring one in the future if it's "properly priced."

Christian Television Set to Blanket United Kingdom with January 5th Launch of TBN UK on Freeview"The Launch of TBN UK on Freeview Channel 65 will represent one of the single largest increases of faith television coverage in history." -- TBN Vice President Matthew Crouch “this will be the first time that over 65 million individuals across the British Isles will have access to a broad range of faith-and-family programming 24 hours a day.” If you thought Christianity had false teachers before, now comes even more opportunity from the ones that brought it all to your homes in the USA. This will increase the falling away exponentially as so many are exposed to false Christianity like never before.

Important! "His Name, the only Name" by Sandy Simpson, 9/5/14
Zechariah 14:9 "The LORD will be king over the whole earth. On that day there will be one LORD, and his name the only name." What are the implications of this prophecy in Zechariah?  (1) That before the return of Christ there have always been many "gods" worshipped in many names.  (2) That the saints who return with Christ (Zechariah 14:5), those who were Raptured, are the ones who had already believed in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Those remaining are forced to acknowledge that there is "no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved" because they were left behind in the Rapture and survived the Tribulation.
UPDATED! Questions For Those Who Claim The "Supreme Beings" Of The Nations Are The True God by Sandy Simpson, 3/17/15
4/9/15 - God and Satan: Unequal Contenders in the Spiritual War by Nanci Des Gerlaise, 4/9/15
God and Satan are not two equal powers in a dualistic battle between good and evil. God’s power is infinite whereas Satan can only do what the Lord gives him permission to do, as evidenced in the Book of Job. Therefore, Satan’s power is limited whereas God’s power is without limit. Our Lord reigns as the supreme Creator and King of the universe, and His purposes are being accomplished in the world whether or not His creatures accept Him as Lord.

Check It Out!  You can now look at a list of authors linked from the DITC site.  This list represents the best articles available to Christians regarding issues having to do with the Third Wave/New Apostolic Reformation and its influence on Christendom.  ACT does not endorse everything written by these authors, but the articles on the DITC site represent sound biblical apologetics and every one of these authors are teaching, both explicitly and implicitly, the core doctrines of the Faith.  They are all good resources for information on what is happening in the churches today, and so their contact information is presented for your edification.  We hope this will help those who oppose the truth realize just how many biblical Christian authors, missionaries, pastors, teachers, professors, and thousands of others OPPOSE the heresy being taught in the Third Wave movement today.  We also hope that those who still love the truth will use the vast resources available via this page to study to show themselves approved workmen for the Lord Jesus Christ.  That means, pick up your Bible, dig deep into the Word of God, and find out what is being taught and done in opposition to those truths and who is doing it.  Be a Berean (Acts 17:11)!
