Peter Wagner had already expressed a foundation of sand upon which his entire "apostolic" kingdom is built.  To back up his notions, he and his friends such as John Wimber, Paul Cain and many others began to get the cart before the horse.  They tried to create revival where there was none with unbiblical and even heretical ideas.  They imported occult ideas from false religions into the churches, such as "slain in the spirit" and called the results "revival".  The means they used were the counterfeit  revivals of the Word Of Faith Movement, the Vineyard movement, the Toronto "Blessing", the Brownsville "Outpouring" and on down the line to latest Todd Bentley "Lakeland Revival".  The proof that the means have all been unjustifiable is in the unjustifiable ends.  Lakeland has now come to an apparent abrupt end due to false healing and dead raising claims, many false teachings, a false "transferable" anointing, and sexual misconduct.  You can read about these things in our Todd Bentley section. Christians, and especially Christian leadership, are called to be salt and light in a dark world. Matt. 5:13-16  "You are the salt of the earth. "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Saturate 2020 is another in a long line of Latter Rain revivals which do not meet the criteria of a Biblical revival at all (Acts 3:19).  The Toronto “Blessing” and Brownsville “Revival” both came into towns all over the world with the promise that people were getting saved and nothing weird was going on at their meetings.  This was always a lie as the true Gospel was not preached but instead people were invited forward to have hands laid on them in order to transfer an impartation.  Meanwhile false doctrines were laid down in order to get people involved in churches like Bethel Church in Redding, CA.  We are warned in Scripture about this. Galatians 2:4 But it was because of the false brethren secretly brought in, who had sneaked in to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, in order to bring us into bondage. 2 Peter 2:1 But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves. The fact that some formerly Biblical churches have joined this circus is a testament to their lack of teaching discernment.  Some of these denominations were warned repeatedly about the Latter Rain, Word of Faith and the New Apostolic Reformation yet they apparently wanted to remain “willfully ignorant”.  The people advertised as being involved with this latest “revival” are almost all associated with Bethel in some way and promoters of what they teach.  This is not a true Biblical revival but rather a revival of the occult and New Age among Christians.  This meeting is actually hurting the cause of Christ and will not have any real beneficial effect on the culture of California, which has turned decidedly evil for decades.  These Dominionists will not be saving the planet, but are rather setting people up for the coming antichrist.  Nor will they rid the world of coronavirus, but rather likely add to it. Should biblical Christian churches be Christ-centered (Christocentric)?  Should the doctrines of the Father (Patriology) and the Holy Spirit (Pnematology) also be equally emphasized?  Can a church be Patriocentric or Pnemacentric and be biblical? The answer to these questions are quite simple from a biblical perspective.  There have been charges leveled at some movements such as the Pietist Movement in Germany and other movements that they place too much emphasis on Christ to the exclusion of the Father and the Holy Spirit.  This may be true to a certain degree.  The doctrines of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit must be taught with equal emphasis so that Christians will know what they believe. But should a church be Patriocentric or Pnemacentric?  No.  For instance, there are far too many churches today, having been influenced by hyper-Pentecostalism and the Latter Rain, that are Pnemacentric.  They spend most of their time focusing on the Holy Spirit to the exclusion of preaching the Gospel while, in fact, they don't even have a biblical doctrine of the Holy Spirit.  I believe that because classic Evangelicals, to a certain degree, dropped the ball in defining the Person and role of the Holy Spirit it gave an opening to Third Wavers to step in with their erroneous ideas of Pnematology. Rev. 3:14-22  And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. Much has been made of this passage, using it to point out what is happening today in the apostate churches around the world.  It is true that they believe they are rich in spiritual things when they are very poor.  It can be applied in one sense to the Word of Faith movement.  It is true that the "River" movement of Latter Rain teachings do think they are hot when actually they are cold. But this letter to the end times church of Laodicea is actually talking to biblical Christians who are born again.  The apostate movements of the Latter Rain, Third Wave, Toronto "Blessing", Vineyard, Brownsville "Outpouring", Word of Faith, New Apostolic Reformation, World Gathering on Indigenous People, Manifest Sons of God, Seeker Friendly, Church Growth, Emerging Church and many others have already had their lampstands removed (Rev. 2:5) because of their apostasy and have already been spit out of the Lord's mouth (Rev. 3:16).  We can know this because of what the Bible says about those who teach false doctrines (1 Tim. 6:3-5, 2 Tim. 4:3) and make false prophecies (1 John 4:1). These false churches, false movements and false brethren (Gal. 2:4) are already under the judgment of the warnings of the seven letters, as all but two of the original first century churches are today (only the two who Jesus did not warn still survive today).  Therefore the letters to the churches apply to those churches who have not had their lampstands removed and been spit out of the mouth of God because of heresy and false prophesy.  So the warning to the true biblical churches today remains.  Why is this warning significant to us? It is significant because, by in large, it is the true Church today that has allowed the movements mentioned above to infiltrate and take over the agenda for what is called "Christianity" today. How To Find A Good Church by Sandy Simpson, 2003 Here’s how to find a good church.  What you need to find is a church that not only has orthodox doctrinal statements but teaches, both explicitly and implicitly, in line with the core doctrines of the Faith.  These are Bible-believing Christ-centered churches that are balanced in their theology.  Be sure to test all churches before you become involved.  It is acceptable to get involved with a house church or Bible study as long as there is someone who has the gift of teaching there to lead the study of God’s Word.  Hebrews 10:25 not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near. These ideas all coalesce in Dominionism.  If it were true that the Church needs to take over the planet, then we would be seeing the unstoppable plans of God’s physical Kingdom unfolding.  But we do not.  All we see are failed prophecies, empty edicts and declarations coming from false apostles and false prophets.  They love to fool Christians with talk of the “kingdom" when it is clear they are talking about a different “kingdom"; a Kingdom Now not a Kingdom come.  Jesus taught us to pray: “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven".  The implication is that we are to be about building His spiritual Kingdom while praying for and expecting His physical Kingdom to come.  The only way we can do that is to continue in the Great Commission till He comes, not attempt to rule where God has not given the Church the authority to rule.  Jesus will do that when He returns. If we go off on the tangent the Dominionists want us to go, we will not only miss out on the blessings of His Kingdom to come, but may well be deserving of judgment. Why do we have pastors? Are they supposed to rule the church and get everyone to support them and bow to their demands? They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness. Those who would be Bible teachers must teach according to the whole counsel of God's Word.  Let me be clear. There is only one way to salvation.  That is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone.  I will deal with a few of those issues following, but it is important to recognize that being saved is not just a matter of believing that Jesus lived, or that He was a man, or simply giving mental ascent to His existence in whatever form. At that time Christians who read the book were apparently satisfied that, though there was some questionable material present, it made for an interesting discussion on how to do cross-cultural ministry. The subtitle it has today, which was first published in 1984, is as follows: Startling Evidence of Belief in the One True God in Hundreds of Cultures Throughout the World.  This should have been a red flag for many Christians but then, who reads subtitles?  But how could the "One True God" be known to Gentiles who did "not know God". (7) Pope Says Mary "Collaborated In The Work Of Salvation" by David W. Cloud, 1997  "At his general audience in St. Peter's Square on April 9, Pope John Paul II said that Mary uniquely collaborated in the work of salvation. According to the Vatican Information Service, April 9, 1997, the pope stated that 'in union with Christ and yielding to Him, She collaborated to obtain the grace of salvation for all humanity." All around the world Roman Catholics are experiencing the charismatic's second baptism known as the 'baptism of the Holy Spirit.' Many are also being 'slain in the spirit' and are Speaking in 'tongues'. The Roman Catholic priesthood has embraced the 'charismatic experience' which has received the Pope's official blessing. But what does this all mean?" Although this article is from a KJV-only perspective, which I do not entirely subscribe to, it points out the fact that if Catholics and Protestants can both be "slain in the spirit', what is to prevent any other religion from sharing in this experience. And the answer is -- none. They are already experiencing it. Is this then the Holy Spirit or the great apostacy?  (9) Promise Keepers Changes Doctrinal Statement To Appease Catholics by David W. Cloud, 1997  "When Promise Keepers first published its brief statement of faith, it did not include the phrase "by faith alone." It was added because of the outcry of those who protested that the absence of this phrase leaves room for false gospels which mix grace and works, faith and sacraments. You see, false gospelers do not deny that salvation is by faith and by grace. What they deny is that it is by grace ALONE through faith ALONE without works and sacraments of any sort. Now we see that Promise Keepers has again modified its statement to remove "by faith alone" to please the Catholic leaders with whom they are fellowshipping. Promise Keepers vice president, Paul Edwards, tells us that PK's doctrinal statement is "dynamic" and "open to change." This is typical of those with an ecumenical agenda. They claim that sound doctrine is precious to them, but in practice they are incredibly flexible and nonchalant about the most foundational of doctrines." Mulholland, Jr., Founder and President of CICI."  By the way, this is on the OFFICIAL Catholic site at www.catholic.com, believe it or not.  Kind of says it all.  Notice how the nose grows longer.  Is it just me or is that a sign?  You will need to touch the picture with your mouse cursor to activate the morph.  It took me awhile to figure that one out.  Kind of confusing like Vatican II!  (15) Pope John Paul II Receives A Mark In His Forehead By A Pagan Shiva Priestess by Cutting Edge Ministries, 1998 "We received some very shocking, but revealing, information about Pope John Paul II from a sister Christian organization, "Former Catholics For Christ". In their newsletter, dated Jan/Feb/Mar, 1998, they reveal that Pope John Paul II allowed a Shiva priestess to create the traditional Shiva mark on his forehead.  Note:  We do not agree with all the conclusions in this article, but we present this information as proof that the Vatican and the Pope continue to steadily move toward total interfaith globalism, and that the Roman Catholic Church is spiritually bankrupt from the top down.  (16) Pope John Paul II - Vatican II and the "Bent Cross" by Cutting Edge Ministries, 1998 "Please notice the Crucifix that Pope John Paul II is holding up to the people, at left. According to the Religious News Service, Pat Robertson marched at the head of an ecumenical procession (which included Bright) to the papal altar and was seated with Protestant, Orthodox and other Christian leaders. Robertson is the Charismatic head of the 700 Club and Bright is the head of Campus Crusade for Christ." We call upon such men as Charles Colson, Richard Land, Larry Lewis, Richard Mouw, John White, and especially J.I. Packer, to rethink their position, and withdraw their support from a document that can do nothing more than cause confusion and "give aid and comfort to the enemies of the cause of Christ." (22) Faiths Heal Ancient Rift Over Faith - Catholics, Lutherans End Doctrinal Dispute by Charles Trueheart, Washington Post Foreign Service, 11/1/99  The "Joint Declaration On The Doctrine Of Justification" was, today, nailed to his church door by Cardinal Willliam H. Keeler, thereby allegedly ending the Reformation that Martin Luther died to support.  I dare say, if Luther could, he would be rolling over in his grave at the sight of this apostasy.  Fortunately, though 61.5 million Lutherans agreed to the accord, about 3 million rejected it.  You can read the Missouri Synod's "The Joint Lutheran/Roman Catholic Declaration on Justification: A Response" and see for yourself their good reasons for not signing this document. Bennett, 1999  "There have been numerous, alarming attempts over the past five years to declare Roman Catholics as "brothers and sisters in Christ" during the dialogue between Evangelicals and the Roman Catholic Church. Now something more sinister and authoritative has taken place. "The Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Justification" (JD), an official doctrinal statement jointly authored by representatives of the Roman Catholic Church (RCC) and the Lutheran World Federation (LWF), has been signed on October 31st, 1999, as a joint confessional agreement. On the 482nd anniversary of Martin Luther's pivotal posting of the yet unanswered "95 theses" that ignited the Protestant Reformation, the RCC and LWF vividly confirmed their position of the serious apostasy--to which ecumenism with Rome inevitably leads. Michael Scanlan of Francisan University.  This is sure to bring a heavy dose of the paranormal and occult teachings and practices of the Third Wave into more Catholic circles.  The sad part of this is that few Catholics have been taught to discern the false teaching, false prophesy and false anointing of this movement, let alone the true gospel message.  Heresy upon heresy!  (26) Pat Robertson & Rome by David W. Cloud, The Raden Report, Fundamental Baptist Information Service, 5/30/00  "Pat Robertson, founder of the 700 Club and Regent University, is an ardent ecumenicist who has long worked and fellowshipped with Romanists. (89) Vatican�s twisted priorities / Op-ed: instead of focusing on decline of Arab Christianity, Catholic Church chooses to demonize Israel at Understanding The Times, 3/25/12  In a special interview with Die Tagespost last week, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem Fouad Twal, named by Pope Benedict to represent the Vatican in the Jewish State, declared that �Israel's existence as such has nothing to do with the Bible.� He then compared Christians� condition in today�s Jerusalem with Jesus� Passion: �We Christians never forget that even our Lord himself suffered and was mocked in Jerusalem.�  (90) Cardinal Pell Says Adam and Eve Didn't Exist by The Berean Call, 4/20/12  In comments that may shock some staunch Catholics, Cardinal George Pell has described the biblical story of Adam and Eve as a myth. He appeared alongside renowned evolutionary biologist and atheist, Professor Richard Dawkins, on the ABC's Q&A program last night. Cardinal Pell said the existence of Adam and Eve was not a matter of science but rather a mythological account. "It's a very sophisticated mythology to try to explain the evil and the suffering in the world," he said. "It's a religious story told for religious purposes." According to Genesis, God created Adam and Eve as the first man and woman and all people are descended from them. Cardinal Pell's explosive comments came after he was questioned about evolution. Cecil notes that many �Christians have emailed me to say how much they appreciated what was said during the debate as I simply but clearly set before the priest the truth of God's Word.� "Mariology: Who Is Mary According to Scripture?" was broadcast on May 15th. Representing the evangelical Christian position was Cecil Andrews, founder of Take Heed Ministries. Supporting the Roman Catholic position was Jesuit Priest Keith McMillan. (93) From Darkness To Light Host: Jim Scneider Guest: Mike Gendron, VCY America, 7/14/12  Mike Gendron is the Founder and Director of Proclaiming the Gospel Ministry. (97) Catholic, Protestant Churches Sign Historic Baptism Agreement by Roger Oakland, 1/31/13  The pathway towards unification with Rome is becoming more and more apparent to those who can see the coming One World Religion with headquarters in Rome. Unfortunately, while this is taking place, there are fewer who are willing to point out this sign of the End Times and warn the sheep. For example, those who follow leaders, many of them who follow the Purpose Driven model promoted by Rick Warren, claim that "it is better to be known for what you are for than what you are against." (101) Can a Priest Forgive Sins? by Jason Hauser, 3/12/13  How tragic that priests have have gone so far as to believe that they have authority to forgive sins as mediators between God and man, the position of Christ alone (1 Tim 2:5) and give a false hope to those who are without Christ. Catholics must turn from trusting in their religion to save and forgive them and recognize that salvation and complete right standing is found in Christ alone (Acts 4:12). (102) Jesus With A Twist by Roger Oakland, 3/21/13  Everyone knows that the Catholic Church believes in an orthodox biblical historical Jesus, born of a virgin in Bethlehem, the Son of God, the Jesus who died on a cross and was raised from the dead. It faces a danger so grave that, although we have discussed this problem before, it must be addressed again with new insight and vigor. (107) Apparitions of Mary by Mike Gendron, 5/6/13  I am always amazed to hear of people traveling hundreds of miles and spending thousands of dollars to seek a message from an apparition of Mary when they can open their Bible and receive a message from Christ right where they are. Over 7 million Catholics make pilgrimages every year to the sites of Fatima, Lourdes, Medjugorje and other places where Mary has reportedly appeared. Marian apparitions and their messages play an integral part of worship in Roman Catholicism. Consider just one of the ungodly messages from a Fatima apparition that clearly diverts people away from worship of the triune God: "God is giving two last remedies to the world, these are the Holy Rosary and the Devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary...the two means to save the world are prayer and sacrifice....devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, our Most Holy Mother consists in considering her as the seat of mercy, of goodness of pardon and of the certain door by which we are to enter Heaven... plead for peace from the Immaculate Heart of Mary, for the Lord has confided the peace of the world to her." (108) God Gives Grace to the Humble by Jason Hauser, 5/9/13  Catholics often attempt to discredit the testimonies of former Catholics who come to saving faith by claiming "you must not have been properly catechized" or "clearly you were never much of a Catholic." This is said in response to the new believer humbly reflecting on past sin in their life from which they were saved. Often the Lord brings such people very low before they have clarity or He uses another individual to speak biblical truth into their lives that reveals a disconnect. Such humility is necessary for one to understand and receive the grace of Christ (Jas 4:6). In contrast, the religious man is convinced he is already right before God. There are many descriptions given by the apostle John that indict Roman Catholicism, such as being clothed in purple and scarlet and adorned with gold and jewels, holding a golden cup full of abominations and committing sexual immorality. However, the description that may be the most compelling is that she is a "mystery". As I researched the Catechism of the Catholic Church for the word "mystery," I discovered the word appears 235 times. This did not surprise me because I remember how priests would always respond to any question they could not answer with, "It's a mystery." Following are some of the teachings within Roman Catholicism that are called a mystery. Each one nullifies, opposes or contradicts the Word of God. Paragraph numbers are in parenthesis. (114) Pope Francis Rejects God's Word Again by Mike Gendron, 9/12/13  The pope said there is no such thing as an "absolute truth" if that means a truth can stand by itself "without any relationship." This postmodern pope is echoing the emerging church and contemplative spirituality - a theology that the devil is using to rebuild the tower of Babel under the papacy. The pope's remark is so deceptive because there is absolute truth and it is found in Christ and His Word. Jesus said, "I am the truth" and "thy Word is truth" (John 14:6; 17:17). The Lord Jesus came to testify to the truth and everyone who is of the truth listens to Him (John 18:37). Clearly, the pope is not abiding in the Word of Christ and he remains in bondage to religious deception (John 8:31-32). (115) Pope Francis assures atheists: You don�t have to believe in God to go to heaven by The Berean Call, 9/19/13  In comments likely to enhance his progressive reputation, Pope Francis has written a long, open letter to the founder of La Repubblica newspaper, Eugenio Scalfari, stating that non-believers would be forgiven by God if they followed their consciences. (116) The Pope's Surprise - Not Really, It Was Inevitable by Jacob Prasch, 9/23/13  To any saved Christian with an ounce of discernment and Holy Spirit illuminated scriptural insight, once the Vatican and the papacy abrogated the historicity of the Genesis creation narrative more than 15 years ago and began to cave in on the issue of Darwinism, it was only a matter of time before the Church of Rome compromised on moral issues such as abortion and homosexuality. (117) Roman Catholic Church's authority to interpret scripture violates scripture by Matt Slick, CARM, 10/2/13  The Roman Catholic Church is telling us that when it comes to faith, morals, and doctrine, Christians are not allowed to interpret Scripture in contradiction to how the Roman Catholic Church interprets it. This means there is no way for Catholics to know if the Roman Catholic Church is false, because they are obligated to never contradict the RCC when examining Scripture. (118) Pope Francis to consecrate the world to Immaculate Heart of Mary by Catholic Herald, 10/9/13  Pope Francis will consecrate the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on October 13. The consecration will take place as part of a pilgrimage that will bring thousands of members of groups promoting Marian piety to the Vatican. (119) The New Evangelization From Rome Or Finding the True Jesus Christ (Booklet) by Roger Oakland, 11/4/13  Are you willing to risk the chance of putting Jesus to an open shame by rejecting the biblical plan of salvation for the Eucharistic Christ? Keep in mind that Jesus was crucified once for sins. He shed His blood on the Cross one time for all. The sacrifice has been made. Our sins have been paid in full. (120) Pope Francis Prays for the Dead by Mike Gendron, 11/5/13  Pope Francis visited a cemetery in Rome last Friday in observance of the Roman Catholic holiday All Saints' Day to pray for the dead and bless the graves of the departed. He celebrated the blasphemous representation of the Eucharistic Christ during mass and ask the dead saints to pray for those who remain alive. "The saints who stand before the face of the Lord, pray for us, for this our city, and for the whole world, that everywhere the peace of Christ may shine brightly," he said. Roger has been stating all along that to do this the Papacy is using what they call �Eucharistic adoration.� The article below from the Vatican news agency is another current example of the reality of this happening. (123) James Robison: The Lord wants Protestants and Catholics to unite as one by Lighthouse Trails, 12/12/13  James Robinson sounds like the new spokesperson for Catholicism on his TV broadcast show Life Today. Robinson praised Fox News Contributor Fr. Jonathan Morris, claiming the Lord was upon him and we should listen to him. James and Betty Robinson promotes merger of evangelicals and Roman Catholics. (124) An Irishman cuts out the Middle Man (Video) by Berean Beacon, 12/30/13  In November 2010, Richard Bennett met John Callan, a Catholic man from Ireland. Richard explained to him our tract, �Are you right with God?� John told him that it all made great sense. He then returned to Ireland and after many telephone calls and emails he was truly saved. (128) Calvary Chapel�s Brian Broderson & Don Stewart Give Pastor�s Perspective Counsel That Roman Catholic Confirmation Is Not Harmful by Spiritual Research Network, 3/14/13  In  this  particular program, Brian Broderson  and  Don Stewart gave disturbing  counsel.  Both were in full agreement with each other as the audio and transcript and video show. Some good counsel was first given to direct an individual (and wife) to not force their teenage daughter to do something spiritually that she didn�t want to do. But then, bad �counsel� was given to the same concerned and confused parent, regarding Roman Catholic Confirmation not being harmful. Even though Broderson  clearly  clarified  that  such  a ceremony  would  include the participant (teenager) saying,  �Yes,  I want to  be  a Roman Catholic,� Broderson and Stewart were in agreement that it would not be harmful. (129) Protestants Who Don�t Unite With Catholics are Guilty of �Spiritual Racism� by John Lanagan, 4/12/14  LTRP Note: In March, we posted �The Unification of Hyper-Charismatics and the Catholic Church,� an article by Roger Oakland, discussing the recent hearty endorsement Kenneth Copeland gave the Catholic church via his public meeting with �evangelist� for the Catholic church, Anglican Tony Palmer (who claims Pope Francis is his mentor). (130) Question: Roman Catholic apologists such as Gerry Matatics, Scott Hahn, and Karl Keating claim that the apostles� oral teaching was as authoritative as Scripture, that it was passed down through history as �tradition,� that the Catholic Church has been its careful guardian and that evangelicals lack a full understanding of God�s truth because they reject tradition. How do you respond? by The Berean Call, 5/1/14  Response:  Not every word the apostles spoke was inspired of God. Catholics don�t even claim that for the popes, alleged successors of Peter. Moreover, without a written record, no one could be certain even 100 years later, let alone today, that orally transmitted teaching had been passed down accurately. Obviously, we must have an infallible written record, which is why the Holy Spirit inspired the apostles to write the New Testament. We are assured that all  Scripture  is inspired of God. No such assurance is given for  tradition . In fact, the opposite is implied. (131) Why the Catholic (and Emerging Church) �Eucharist� Does Not Line Up With Scripture by Roger Oakland, 5/26/14  The Catholic Church teaches that once a Catholic priest  has consecrated the wafer of bread during Communion, the wafer turns into the literal and real body, blood, soul, and divinity of Jesus Christ.1 Therefore, the Communion Host is no longer bread but Jesus, under the appearance of bread and is therefore worthy of adoration and worship. He said we should respect others' beliefs because "the worst thing of all is religious proselytism, which paralyzes." The word "proselytize" means to try to convert somebody to a religious faith. The pope said "the church grows by attraction, not proselytizing." (136) The Papacy Of The Roman Catholic Church by Ken Silva, 9/28/14  It�s vital for you to understand that the Roman Catholic Church sees its Pope as the head of all Christian churches everywhere; and this regardless whether they would be considered Roman Catholic or Protestant. Again, from Vatican I Session 4, it now becomes clear beyond any reasonable doubt that the Church of Rome is telling us this office of Pope is not simply a designation within their own communion. These evangelicals have been seduced by Rome's strategy to reverse the Reformation and bring "separated brethren" back home to holy mother, the church. (142) Christ Cathedral Receives $20M From Anonymous Donor; Catholic Diocese to Renovate Former Crystal Cathedral at Understand The Times, 12/8/14  A California Roman Catholic diocese that owns the property that once was the Crystal Cathedral has received a $20 million donation for its renovation work. The Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange announced that an anonymous donor gave $20 million to aid the estimated $113 million renovation of the former Crystal Cathedral. In a statement made by the donor and released by the Diocese of Orange, the person said, "I hope this gift will inspire other donors in our community to give as well. "I am blessed to offer my faithful and financial support to the diocese's efforts to restore and renovate the campus and make its vision for the Christ Cathedral a reality." For decades, the Orange County located Crystal Cathedral was the notable megachurch headed by the Rev. Robert Schuller and his family. However, financial scandals and in-fighting led to Crystal Cathedral Ministries filing for bankruptcy and eventually being compelled to sell their iconic property. In February 2012, the Catholic Diocese of Orange purchased the building and grounds, renaming the sanctuary Christ Cathedral. (143) Bowing the Knee to Rome by T.A. McMahon, 2/24/25  We live in strange times. When I became a born-again believer nearly four decades ago following thirty years as a Roman Catholic, not one non-Catholic Christian chided me for leaving the Church of Rome. In those days it was fairly obvious to evangelicals that the teachings and practices of Roman Catholicism were at odds with the teachings of the Bible. Yes, there were a few things, at least superficially, that Catholics and Bible-believing Christians held in common. The virgin birth of Christ, which involved the conception of Jesus by the Holy Spirit, is one example. Yet, regarding Christ�s miraculous birth, the Catholic Church added to the virgin Mary the dogmas of her Immaculate Conception, i.e., her having been conceived without sin, and her perpetual virginity. Although those extra-biblical teachings are serious errors, they do not directly contradict the gospel that is essential for salvation. (144) Who is your Holy Father? by Richard Bennett, 3/26/15  Under the title of "Holy Father" Pope Francis is due to visit the USA in September 2015. Thus, we ask the question, �Who truly is your Holy Father?� A Christian�s relationship with the Holy Father is crucial. Thus, Jesus Christ prayed, Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.� Only those who have been placed in Christ Jesus by God�s grace alone have the right and privilege to call Holy God their Father. Nevertheless, the Vatican both teaches a different gospel and, on its website, claims a successive chain of 266 �holy fathers,� or popes, from St. Peter to Pope Francis.  (145) Do Catholics Possess Life Eternal? Because I remember the grip that Catholicism had on my own soul for 48 years I speak with affection for Catholics. We look at the interfaith movement started by the Pope's and the new ecumenical revival that the Pope Francis has brought to Charismatics and Pentecostals through compromised teachers like Kenneth Copeland, James Robison, Rick Warren, Joel Osteen and Beth Moore are active participants in this ecumenical endeavor. Commentary is made on the recent Pope's emissary to evangelical Charismatics who have purposely ignored what they once knew as false teachers mislead them into acceptance of this religious system. We look at the message Video delivered by the Pope to word faith adherents.. This DVD has Catholic testimonies and explanations heard on the Eucharist, some shocking clips about what Roman Catholics believe, i.e. on the Eucharist (they believe is the hope of the world) and how it will save people in their new evangelization. . What evangelicals endorse their new evangelization. Catholics are on a mission to gain the church�s trust and accept them as fellow Christians, or, to join back to the church that they call the mistress of them all. Can it be proven that they are a church that promotes a false Christianity. Can one find salvation and the true gospel in the message of their church? (147) Rick Warren Will Speak At Papal Mass In Philadelphia by Marsha West, 7/5/15  Southern Baptist pastor Rick Warren will be a part of the ecumenical and interfaith gathering this September where Pope Francis himself is expected to appear. In the Catholic Herald piece we learn that the most important thing that can happen at the week long congress is conversion so that �families can become a force of change for good.� Obviously the conversion they�re referring to is placing their faith in Roman Catholicism. So it�s doubtful that the purveyor of pragmatism, Rick Warren, will share the true gospel of Jesus Christ during his speech, as that would certainly be viewed as divisive. But we shall see. The Catholic Herald�s report begins: More than 1.5 million people are expected for the Mass with Pope Francis in Philadelphia this September, said organisers of the next World Meeting of Families. A high-level delegation from Philadelphia, led by Archbishop Charles J Chaput, was in Rome as of Monday to meet Vatican officials, review some of the planning and promote the week-long congress. (148) Letter to the Editor: My Former Teacher, Scott Hahn�A Convert and Prominent �Evangelist� of the Catholic Church at Lighthouse Trails, 7/27/15  The person being discussed in this Letter to the Editor � Scott Hahn � is a convert from Protestantism to Catholicism, and today, he is one of the most prominent and outspoken Catholic �evangelists� on the scene, working to convert Protestants and evangelical Christians to Roman Catholicism. Roger Oakland discusses Hahn in his book "Another Jesus: the eucharistic christ and the new evangelization." (149) For Pope Francis, Mary's greatness comes down to this one virtue at Understand The Times, 8/29/15  On the feast of the Assumption of Mary, Pope Francis said that faith is the defining virture of her greatness and that the mysterious way she was taken into heaven is a foreshadowing of what awaits each of us. Dogmatically defined in 1950, the assumption of the Virgin Mary's body into heaven is celebrated Aug. 15 every year, and is one of the most important Marian feast days in the Catholic Church. Francis pointed to the famous canticle Mary uttered in response, called the "Magnificat," in which she praises God for the marvelous deeds he has done both in her own life and throughout history. In this prayer Mary expresses her joy, because she is fully aware of what all the great works in her life at that point mean, namely that through her the Lord will accomplish the salvation her people have long been waiting for, the Pope said.The prayer also shows us the full meaning of Mary's life, he added, explaining that "if the mercy of the Lord is the engine of her story (then) she who bore the Lord of life (could not be touched by) the corruption of the tomb." Perhaps you are thinking, �Well, I�m following the teachings of the Church on how to be right with God.� Then would you agree that those beliefs should match God�s written Word, the Bible? Was this just the work of a few mavericks and renegades, or did the church hierarchy sanction this practice? I really appreciate your presence, and in it I see a tangible sign of the wish to grow in reciprocal trust and in cooperation for the common good of humanity.� So the Pope prays to the same god as do Muslims. The event began with the reading from the book of Revelation, which describes �a woman, clothed with the sun, with the moon beneath her feet, and around her head a crown of twelve stars.� (Rev. 12:1). The theme for the day, �Entrusting Oneself to the Merciful Jesus like Mary: �Do whatever he tells you,�� is especially fitting for the Jubilee of Mercy, the Pope said. Due to the fact that the main festivities will be held in the places that Christ lived and carried out his ministry, including many miracles, Francis said he decided to center his message for the day on the Gospel account of the wedding feast of Cana, where Christ performed his first miracle through the intervention of his mother. With Mary's attentiveness and personal involvement with the newlywed couple in mind, as well as her and docile attitude toward her son, the Pope asked what the scene can teach us about the World Day of the Sick. The Wall Street Journal reported Sept. 7 that Pope Francis has trimmed the powers of Cardinal George Pell, who was charged with cleaning up the city-state�s muddled accounts, in a setback for broader overhaul of Vatican bureaucracy. Late last year, Pell hired PricewaterhouseCoopers to undertake a comprehensive audit of the Vatican�s finances. Accounting at the Vatican has never followed unified policies, according to the WSJ article. Annual reports aren�t released, different departments use different accounting principles, data are inconsistent and not comparable. Before Cardinal Pell�s appointment, a panel of cardinals charged with economic oversight met just twice a year. Budgets didn�t exist, and expenditures weren�t itemized. Already Pell had found about $1.6 billion �tucked away� off the books. Other officials, led by Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Secretary of State, known as the pope�s prime minister, let Pell know the audit wouldn�t fly. Letting the facts speak for themselves, Ms. Reilly suggests that “the centrality of sex and gender to his way of thinking about the New Testament�? significantly colors the way that Professor Liew presents Jesus Christ to students at the Catholic College. (175) Did Hell Disappear? by Herescope, 5/31/18 The Wall Street Journal wrote last week that “Italian journalist Eugenio Scalfari, a friend and frequent interviewer of the pope, reported that the pontiff had denied the existence of hell.�? Sinners who die without achieving eternal salvation “are not punished,�? the pope said, according to an article by Mr. Scalfari in the Itlaian newspaper La Repubblica. “There is no hell; there is the disappearance of sinful souls.�?[1]   Predictably the Vatican would later release a statement that partially denied the report, but also “stopped short of a specific denial.�?[2] This clever dialectic maneuver is a perfect example of two steps forward, one step back. Now the issue of hell is on the table and up for debate, once again illustrating how the Pope Francis has “shaken up perceptions of Catholic doctrine.�?[3]  The Pope is merely following in the steps of other theologians and leaders who have professed orthodoxy out of one side of their mouth while teaching new doctrine.[4] (176) Purgatory — A Place of Torment for Dying Catholics to Anticipate by Jackie Alnor, 6/23/18 Purgatory: a cruel invention of the Roman Catholic Church – A false dogma that lays a heavy burden on every Catholic.  They hold men captive to a system that claims the keys to heaven. (179) Entertaining Devils Unawares by Jackie Alnor, 8/18/18 The Bible instructs us to be kind to strangers because we could be entertaining angels unawares. But the flip side to that is that we could be entertaining fallen angels unawares. Nowhere in church history is that more evident than in the Roman Catholic Church. (180) Pope in Knock: I Am Happy to Be in Mary’s Home at Understand the Times, 8/29/18 Comment from UTT: Another example of a "Mary" centered Christianity occurred when Pope Francis visited Ireland. Where in the Bible do we find justification for praying to a statue? “I’m happy to be here with you. I am happy to be with you in Mary’s home.�? On the second day of his Aug. 25-26, 2018, visit to Ireland for the occasion of the World Meeting of Families, Pope Francis stressed this during his Angelus address which he gave in the northwestern town of Knock. Knock is a beloved pilgrimage site for the Irish. In 1979, Pope St John Paul II visited the site, located in the Irish County of Mayo, for the centenary of the Marian and Eucharistic apparition that took place there. The apparition was witnessed by 15 people independently and verified by the Church. The news story below (released this week by Vatican News) is yet another example of how the world’s religious leaders are seeking to bring about “God’s Dream�? into the world. When you begin to understand what “God’s Dream�? is really all about (i.e., God’s dream for man to realize his divinity and oneness), you will see the urgency in this. This term is showing up more and more in evangelical circles as Warren Smith points out. Just last week, yet another instance where we learned of an evangelical mega-church pastor using the term: Pastor Doug Sauder, the lead pastor at Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale (the former church of Bob Coy), wrote a sub-section in his book The One Factor: How One Changes Everything titled “God’s Dream.�? And there are many other evangelicals pastors, authors, and leaders now using the term, whether they understand the full implication or not. As you can surmise from the following quote by New Ager Neale Donald Walsch, there will be no place for the Cross in “God’s Dream�? because man will believe that he himself is God.
